>oh this shows seems interesting, i love cyberpunk >the writers literally trying as hard as humanly possible to cram as much in your face nudity into the run time as possible.
what the fuck is this garbage? Did they think no one would want to watch a sci-fi show without tits and hamfisted sexual bullshit in your face every 5 minutes? if i wanted that, id just go wack it on the hub for fucks sake. At least on there no one pretends to be deep and contemplative while basically rehashing bladerunner
>inb4 "buhh, the nudity is supposed to be a narrative device to show how the people of this universe lack modesty and treat the body as disposable buhhhhh"
This show is good. Maybe if you didn't watch it with your mommy and daddy the nudity wouldn't make you so uncomfortable? Maybe every time the MC comes on screen you are reminded of how fat and gross you are

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say AC is gonna become one of those shows that are popular because enough people are in the "I think it looks really good so it is really good". And don't get me wrong, AC can be really very pretty indeed, but it falls flat in telling a sci-fi story. In the last thread I drew a comparison to Ghost in the Shell: Ghost in the shell displays transhumanism on a very neutral to positive ground. It shows us realistic downsides in cyber-brain disease, hacking attempts as well as corporate greed and other such things, but it also shows us the upside, a functioning society and all in all a decent world to live in. It doesn't make a decision for us to judge weather it is right or wrong to replace the human body (in part or totally) with machines. It shows you the possibility and the implications, it leaves it up to you to want or to reject these implants, but it doesn't pre-judge them.
Altered Carbon on the other hand goes another way. It CLEARLY and often says: "Transhumanism is bad!" The "creator" of stacks regret it, it is shown that ABSOLUTELY everyone who has lived multiple lives turns into an absolute fucking asshole, it throws the "We don't have the right to hold of death / only god should decide death / it isn't right to life this long" shit right in our face. But why? She said "we'll make it so everyone has a 100 years and then it's over" but why? Where is the reasoning? What makes 100 ok, but 200 is bad? It is completely arbitrary, based solely on this unfounded idea that transhumanism is, accord to AC inherently a bad thing. But why? Because really old people get really corrupt? So what? Are you saying we are in a society without manipulative assholes right now? Clearly this is not the case, so who are you to make a cutoff at 100 years? Who's to say that knowing their exact death date wouldn't have an even worse effect on humans? Trying to cheat the system, going on stack-kill sprees because they're 99 and doomed?
Liam Evans
Only watched the first episode and it felt like it was written by some dumb and edgy 14 years old's own self insert fantasy nonsense.
Mason Stewart
Cringe inducing dialog over cringe inducing dialog delivered by flat characters. No thx.
Alexander White
Other than angry latino cop, no one has a personality. They're skin changers, not robots. Main dude is the worst, he's a mannequin.
Dominic Thompson
good show 7.5/10
Jeremiah Rivera

Daniel Gonzalez
>blowing people up and chopping their heads off is ok >tits and ass aren't
Was there a bigger mistake in history than America?
Julian Sanchez
>Ortega >Personality Have you been watching a different show than me? She, like everyone else is a pure trope: "Hardass girl that just needs a good dicking by the MC" Just because she swears a lot, doesn't give her a personality. I'd be hardpressed to say what kind of person she is. What she enjoys, what she hates. She's also "the only non corrupt cop in the corrupt police force". Fuck literally her WHOLE motivation for that whole show is: "this guy is using my BFs body so I'm gonna follow him but then I follow him because I love him". fucking hell. And even Kovacs sister is just such a fucking Yandere with an Incest boner that even Sup Forums would say "that's a bit much desu" Fucking hell, literally going: "I'll kill EVERYTHING if you don't love me!!!!" This whole show is a bad anime Harem plot, I swear to god.
Juan Harris
Well at least she shows emotion even if her personality is shallow. Everyone is lethargic and apathetic, completely dulled emotionally.
Christian Foster
>I'd be hardpressed to say what kind of person she is Tsundere, but only for the body.
Cooper Brown
Just give up all hope for The Witcher right fucking now if they can't adapt a basic fucking book like this what hope do the female writers for the witcher have?

We can all agree Rei was the best girl, right?
Jeremiah Russell
Has Dichen whopped her fun bags out?

Spicy latina is what you're trying to say
Anthony Gray
being a non-faggot i tend to enjoy gratuitous nudity
Nathaniel Hall
There are several full nude scenes and you know that they only put them in just for the marketing and articles being made calling it the game of thrones for netflix just because normies love nudity
Elijah Johnson
Aside from visuals, what's actually good about it?
Not him, but how do you expect people who've lived hundreds of years to behave? It's a natural tendency to get desensitized to things. Do you expect them cry every time someone dies or something? Like give me an example what you'd change in the show exactly
Robert Myers
Ah, yes, the classic >muh burgers hate nudity meme. You see, euro friends. I have no problem with nudity, if it serves ANY narrative purpose. Have you even watched the show? Its highschool harem anime levels of "guys theres plot and interesting universe behind the sex appeal i sware". Nudity can be used in unsettleing ways to set a theme. Frameing nudity in a non-sexual way COULD have helped set a theme and actually done what i said in op with: >inb4 "buhh, the nudity is supposed to be a narrative device to show how the people of this universe lack modesty and treat the body as disposable buhhhhh" But thats not at all how its used in the show, its just throwing in tits and abs into as many shots as possible to keep people paying attention. It honestly comes off as patronizing more than anything and you know it. 2/10 i replied
Asher Bennett
she looks like a sphinx
Daniel Diaz
It's a pretty entertaining show. The tits and the violence honestly are not distracting to me like it apparently is for everyone else.
I do think it's a little hammy and over the top though. Not sure why the protagonist needs to be a "last of his kind" super soldier kung fu badass when the plot really only demands him to be a futuristic gumshoe. Feels a bit like a childish power fantasy, sci-fi really needs to cut that shit out.
Brandon Bell
>1. its a netflix original >2. its made in Canada
that is a recipe for instant garbage
t. vancouver film industry worker
Jayden Flores
Like I said here: That's all part of the shows inherent opinion of "transhumanism is bad" it portrays all the sleeve users as barely caring dickheads.
Like I said, pure trope/archtype, no real personality. Would it have been so hard to give us ONE scene in which we see shit she likes to do in her free time? Would it have been so hard, to show her doing some hobby in VR? Nah, all she cares about is Kovac and her case. She's pretty cute, but ultimately, bland.
Mason Williams
There's a fight scene where her fully naked clones are literally jumping out of the walls.
Christopher Hill
Maybe.
Jeremiah Green
These days you can never be sure, could just as well be a body double with her head put on, supposedly they do that a bunch for actresses that don't wanna get nude.
Alexander Fisher
They used to make all the bad shows in Australia and New Zealand, now they're all in Canada. You can just tell a Canadian production from the low quality and bad acting.
It's legit, my man. And so is her incestuous thirst.
Bentley Sullivan
Honestly, I don't find her attractive at all, she reminds me heavily of someone I knew in my youth that I very much wasn't into.
I mean, I have a huge fetish for asian girls, but somehow she doesn't do it for me, at all. Even the latino cop was more attractive (better tits, for sure)
Jason Ramirez
Oh and another thing: that scene would have been a perfect opportunity to show something real: a clone just waking up, inherit dizziness, disorientation, fuck anything. But no, instead she comes out of the pod not only combat ready, fuck she comes out WITH MAKEUP ON. who the fuck PUTS MAKEUP AND HAIRDYE ON CLONES??? That would have been a fucking great opportunity for her or any other female for some decent world building. >huge titted super sexy girl activates a new clone >it has her bodies inherent natural hair and flat tits / no ass because she hasn't modified it yet. I would have really liked that. But nah, apparently they clone you with makeup and a hair stylist.
Hunter Cruz
It's pretty clear the writers priorities were never world building
Zachary Baker
>“Societally we associate female nudity with shame, vulnerability, and with sex,” says showrunner Laeta Kalogridis. fuckin what? The Female form is associated with fertility, motherhood, love and elegance. as well if not more. Fucking shame? Maybe in some parts of 'murrica and backwards ass mudslime countries. And sex? It can be associated with eroticism, sure, but it is only associated with sex if shown in a direct sexual way. Fucking hell what world does this person life in?
Pic related, look at all that shame! look at that vulnerability and the heaps of sex!
>look up Laeta Kalogridis >30 but looks like 50 WHY am I not surprised? Fucking hell. Why do people get away with being this full of shit?
Eli Torres
>30 but looks like 50 >born in 1965
Impressive math skills.
Jason Reed
i dont even remember any nudity in it until second half
Mason Garcia
Oh, My mistake, I was doing 3 things at once, was just flying over the article and read 30, which in fact is her birthday, not her given age. She is in fact 52, (hey good guess at least eh?) and I'm just too dumb to breathe.
the point still stands though, HER association with the female form is absolute fucking bullshit.
Orange is the new Black did nudity best. People often were nude because they shower, they wash and guess what? They're not all pretty with makeup and perky tits. So I don't get why she is showing us nudity in a very sexy way to dispel the image of "the female body" linked to sex.
Christopher Baker
Sex + Science Fiction = bye bye
That's why nobody likes Battlestar Galactica
Jonathan Bell
>"last of his kind" super soldier kung fu badass I find it more funny and worse for the plot is that the show really doesn't show what makes the Envoys so great.
You get presented this facade that they're fucking ubermensch and there's all this hype about some wishy-washy philosophical bullshit and they just explain everything with "details".
Then, it quite clearly shows the Envoys a bunch of innawoods rebels squatting in a forest and get their assholes stomped so hard by the Protectorate, the Praetorians were wearing Envoy colons for slippers.
Jace Wright
Are they ever going to explore the mythical alien technology that created stacks, and who this race were?
Landon Ross
el trabajo del diablo...
Carson Robinson
>comparing jap kino and murican trash japs rarely portray dinsey'esque black and white morality but usually just focus on people in situations (and possible resulting conflicts)
Joseph Ramirez
yeah, keep saying that bullshit. thats why most of the nude shit was in the second half?
Henry Russell
kinda felt bad for her she did all this fucked up shit to get her brother back and he is the one who takes her and her shit down as a sub plot to the show. if she had left him without a body she would be on track to ruling the future of mankind herself.
Elijah King
He was butt naked in the first scene being unzipped? Then you had purefoys dick hanging out in the 2nd(?) Episode
Brody Butler
The point is: the good guys lost. The world is supposed to be as depraved, violent and chaotic as possible. Nudity everywhere serves that narrative.
Joshua Hernandez
I think really over the top sex-sells is a major theme of the dystopian futuristic cyberpunk world
Nathan Mitchell
the nudity is supposed to be a narrative device to show how the people of this universe lack modesty and treat the body as disposable
Isaiah Lewis
nothing of value is being made anymore, just read old books honestly there's gons of great cyberpunk books made in the 90's that blow this trash out of the water
Josiah Bell
Sort of reminds me of Kelly Balthazar
Carson Jenkins
I liked it a lot. Better than most series I watched in recent years. Last few episodes were great, and I loved poe.
It didn't feel like there was a lot of nudity, but I'm european so I'm not triggered by it.
Hunter Miller
Is it some marvel adaptation, where the terms 'good guys' and 'bad guys' exists?
Isaac Bennett
There's a POV character. And he narrates the story. According to his point of view, that's what happened.
Luis Collins
i dont even know what could be the story in season 2, this bro-sis team-up was kinda the most unique shit hollywood came up with recently. Blood above shity "i do it for muh replacable cunt luv"
Zachary Anderson
Purefoy's dick is like in his contract at this point
Adrian Morris
When i started the show i thought the plot twist was going to be that Jaeger was Bancroft.
Samuel James
>Purefoy more like Pureplayboy
Jordan Perry
Are you a believer, Sup Forums?
Jaxon Long
What ever happened to Jaeger? He was in the same body when he was a kid as when he killed him, so he must be like commander of the intergalactic SF for life and have clones on each planet.
Colton Green
Kind of a cheap red herring. Why would one key henchman have this unheard of tech instead of someone more significant? Especially since his sister was bodyswapping around and following him (Though arguably wouldn't need it as long as she kept jumping sleeves)
Jaxson Perry
I believe in bra-less see-through dresses
Nathan Butler
I'm at the episode number 5. As a Tv serie I don't know how to value it, because I'm not an expert of that. But still, I'm enjoying it. But from a cyberpunk point of view ( so comparing it to other works in other forms of media) it's really low and normie tier, almost trash compared to things like Ghost in the shell(1995) and Neuromancer
Nathan Moore
Well the comparison begs to be made with the parallel between the cyborgs and full body stuff in Ghost in the Shell and the sleeves in AC Though GitS asked important questions about self image, identity and what it means to be human in world like this, while all AC did was yelling "This was a mistake! People shouldn't live this long!" It's a missed opportunity, really.
Blake Rivera
Why does having a message make it bad? Is it because you don't agree with the message?
Gabriel Fisher
so did /our guy/
Brody Rivera
>that scene would have been a perfect opportunity to show something real: a clone just waking up, inherit dizziness, disorientation, fuck anything. But no, instead she comes out of the pod not only combat ready, fuck she comes out WITH MAKEUP ON.
She's an ENVOY Being instantly combat ready is part of their setup
And why wouldn't you have your clones made up and modified how you like? Why do it after? What would be the point? What's wrong with you?
Nolan Baker
But the bro-sis love is what eventually killed it for me. Sure it's one hell of a motivation, but then again they have been apart for HUNDREDS of years at that point. He was on ice, I would buy it if he still wanted her, but she was UP in that time, apparently non-stop obsessed with her onii-chan? To the absulte retarded point of: "I'll kill everything including my brother to get that sweet sweet brother love"? Fucking UGH, the whole show is a god damn Harem anime where everyone wants to suck Kovacs dick for some reason.
Probably for the sequel, he uses Takeshi to find nadia or something.
Alexander Anderson
A sci-fi show that tells us it's whole "big thing" is bad? Yes. Once again GitS: Imagine that show would have constantly said:"cyborg bodies are inherently bad, we need to stop this!" Well you don't have to imagine, that's exactly what the live action did. And it is worse off for exactly that reason. You should let a viewer decide for himself if he'd like that or doesn't, you shouldn't have the movie say outright it is bad because it is not. I mean think about it: the stacks are not inherently bad, how could they? Some super rich people abuse the fuck out of them and their solution is what? "Well lets fuck the stacks then" instead of guillotines? Are you high?
Adrian Fisher
Are they going to replace her with a latina that isn't so stereotypical and whose face isn't made of plastic?
Ryan Watson
The people working at the clone facility must have one hell of a job, trimming pussy hair and putting on make-up all day so the bodies are perfectly ready for use. They probably bathe them too.
John Sanders
Well, what else would you describe such an anime level fucking moitvation?
Ian Wright
Can't wait for season 2 when his sleeve is going to be a nigger.
Aiden Wright
h-ha ha yeah, I would hate that job, bathing and caring for the naked bodies of unconscious women
Tyler Sanders
she won't be in the next season.
It'll be an anthology series with Kovacs as the only character staying the same(but changing sleeves as needed)
Carter Martin
why would that matter?
Bentley Murphy
Wait, there'll be a second season? Nothing in the first season hinted at that.
Isn't it based on some book or something.
Leo Reed
Good. Hope Purefoy shows up again though.
Hunter Morales
using a real word for starters like nice
Robert Gray
What he said: Why WOULD you keep your clones in perfect style? They're essentially "sleeping" and you don't know when you're gonna use one. You wouldn't keep "going out" makeup on a coma patient and style her hair, "in case she wakes up". It's a clone, they would be "default"
reminder that would also include males, and uglies. Also, the novelty would probably wear off in about 10 minutes and then it'll be boring.
But that reminds me: Why do the rich even have old sleeves? what's the benefit of letting your clone go past it's 20s? Fuck, wouldn't these people go FULL Christian Bale in Psycho? Which is the point the show is constantly making? "everyone immortal is super fucked up" Why the fuck would the super rich girls put up with sleeves that have wrinkles?
Daniel Gomez
It would make the show ugly and unwatchable.
Anthony Jones
But the Envoys didn't plan to destroy the stacks, they just planned to place a limit to curb abuse of immortality. The stacks are still shown to have a lot of positive qualities, murder victims can testify against their attackers and be resleeved, you can spin up in virtual and learn karate overnight, they could be used as Quell originally planned for exploring the universe. The message isn't "stacks are bad" it's "abusing stacks is bad", or "given the ubiquitous nature of human wickedness immortality is opportunity for infinite evil", or "humans need the rwsolution of death to give their lives meaning".
Asher Ross
is there a clause in his contract where he has to show his dick? Because I remember him showing it in Rome, more or less in the same style
Aaron Green
This show is good up to a certain point when it reveals that most of the characters are unimportant and most of their interactions had no meaning whatsoever in the plot and no influence in the relations between themselves. By the end it just felt like random stories commenting on what eternal life would do to the human mind.
When the samurai girl appears everything goes to shit. They just came up with something for the useless cast to do and I couldn't care less for that guys daughter.
Chase Diaz
>hy WOULD you keep your clones in perfect style To save yourself doing it when you needlecast into them. Of course it's neutral, there's nothing exceptional about her makeup in that scene.
Lucas Parker
Sometimes he just shows up on at naked and refuses to even acknowledge that he's not wearing clothes so they have to just sit the scene anyway. It's just his way.
Asher Wright
>"Why didn't Purefoy put on any clothes?" >"He just wouldn't"
Grayson Anderson
The show isn't perfect but so far every objection raised in this thread is retarded
Jose Moore
Used to be known as "Bread and Circus". Cheap food, blood and guts, tits and ass.
It stimulates a part of the human brain that registers these things as "satisfying", and keeps them in a passive, suggestive state.
It's what happened in the lead up to the fall of Rome. The Colosseum Shows just made everything bigger and crazier and more transgressive to keep the people's minds off politics. To give the the historical equivalent of ""water cooler" talk that didn't involve getting angry about how their culture was becoming degenerate and their empire was being eroded by malignant interests.
That's why shit like TWD and GoT intentionally kill off popular characters. To keep the anger of the audience focused on the showrunners. A safe target for them to satiate their desire to express discord.
Isaiah Clark
could someone just upload the sex gifs so i don't have to sift through the whole series
Camden Robinson
The sister was a mistake.
Liam Rivera
This is the most hideous creature I've seen on TV in a long time.
Eli Garcia
Reminder that the show was shit because the female producer decided to change the book plot.
Hunter Harris
Yet the show also hands over fist claims, multiple time, that it's also a pretty good thing for "real death" to be a somewhat rare occurence for the average person who avoids trouble, and helps solve criminal cases.
It's a bit ham-fisted in presenting its arguments, but it's not so ham-fisted as saying "this is the right thing".
