Is it because it dared to show white people in a positive light in the face of foreign aggression?
Why is this movie so hated?

Because it's corny schlock for misty-eyed housewives instead of am authentic film portraying war and the men who fought it.
It's because it sucked
I don't know, it's literally just Dunkirk.
t.
This is not a masculine film.
Because virgins hate seeing chads in love stories.
I tried to rewatch it a year ago but it was still as boring as I remembered it to be, if not worse
too cliche
If Dunkirk was aimed at middle-aged women
Because there's no fucking reason why fighter pilots would be reassigned to fly bombers unless they were shitty pilots. Yet they reassigned the hotshot protagonists to fly bombers on possibly a one-way mission not because they were good and experienced bomber pilots but because they were good fighter pilots.
Makes no sense.
The violence/realism was disappointing for a war movie.
>Victimhood: The Movie
if this movie was alive it would have the face of Rose McGowan
Because it's a bad war movie AND a bad romantic movie. It doesn't really do anything well.
Barring your racist Sup Forums bait, the movie is garbage. Too long, a nonsensical love triangle, Alic fucking Baldwin as Jimmy Doolittle, and overall a jingoistic piece of Michael Bay trash.
It's like Michael Bay saw Tora Tora Tora and thought it was "boring," so he thew in CGI and a romance because Titanic was still popular.
Remember when FDR stood up from his wheelchair and said "Nothing is impossible!" ?
truly awe inspiring
My HBO marketer friend I'm sorry you guys bought the rights to this movie but it's objectively terrible and no one will ever watch it again
>foreign aggression
America forced Japan's hand you underage fuck. At the time, we were the largest oil producer and exporter in the world. When we cut off oil supplies and enacted an embargo on Japan, it was basically a declaration of war against Japan and the Japanese responded in kind.
I saw Pearl Harbor in theaters and the only thing I remember are these moments:
>Ben Afleck puts shit in his eyes to make himself cry to pick up Liv Taylor
>Ben Afleck has a broken nose for some reason and Liv Taylor kept hitting it while they were on a date
>J-j-j-j-j-j-japs!
>Liv Taylor wrote F on a guy's forehead with some lipstick because he was a gonner
>there was a cool scene where the president stood up from his wheelchair
>Cuba Gooding Jr shot down a plane
>Josh Hartnett was in it
That's all I remember.
>When we cut off oil supplies and enacted an embargo on Japan
Because they invaded China and were massacring civilians you fucking weeb
it doesnt help that the ships in the film are from the 80's and 90's
Who?
forgot pic
chads aren't cucks gerbile fuck.
>hurr durr y they no rebuild dozens of warships built in the 20's and 30's?
retard
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
It's a chic flick in anything but the poster and title
>let's use f16's and hornets instead of whatever the fuck fighter planes they used in WWII, plebs don't care
The average movie goer is not going to notice the difference between an Alaska class cruiser and a Ticonderoga class cruiser
No, you dolt. It's not as if the US were uncompromising. The Japanese had invaded a US ally and the US responded by embargoing the Japanese oil - which was crucial to their war effort.
Did the US expect a Japanese attack? Yes, it was highly likely. Did an embargo justify that attack? No, since the US were open to negotiating.
But the Japanese being fucking incompetent morons filled to the brim with retarded view on honor could not back down from a challenge, so instead they just attacked and thought that would save their face when instead they just fucked their entire empire up - and KNEW it.
>what are models
Didnt rememdered that scene, meh
Because it was affleck (whom is hated by critics , especially at the time)
And Bay (whom is always hated)
Also the movie itself isn't good enough to overcome critics preconceived notions
I tuned out when Affleck got cucked.
It was Kino thought
>he watches anime
>hey guys, wanna watch a war drama about this iconic, tragic moment in history?
>J/K HERE'S A LOVE TRIANGLE HAHAHAHAHA
Imagine being this retarded
>what is moviemaking
No it fucking wasn’t. It was shit
You know, I can imagine that happening.
>Protagonist settles down with his wife and her son
A love story ahead of its time.
And it also lied by showing the Japanese targeting medical facilities when the only thing they attacked was the area the ships were stationed.
>2 hours of cheesy bad romance "plot"
>45 minutes of pure destruction porn
It was proto MoS
Who?
.t Brainlet
Mr. The New Deal
THIS
If you hate this kino, you basically hate White civilization.
>durr ids unrealitik
I don't remember MoS being a 2 hour bad romance.
lol
Would have been better if Michael Bay made a movie on the Doolittle raid instead.
>think i'm getting a war film
>get some shitty romance with a bit of action instead
>mfw seeing this shit after Tora Tora Tora
>Is it because it dared to show white people in a positive light in the face of foreign aggression?
Yes, that must be exactly why. Turns out user, that literally everything conforms to your worldview! Congrats!
do you think when they show historical movies they rebuild everything to scale and functional?
how old are you dude?
And that was bad why?
Fuck off to your shithole country.
My brother hates this movie with a passion and it always cracks me up when he gets mad after I suggest we watch it whenever it's on TV.
B8posting like a champ.
How convenient that every losing side of ww2 was committing atrocities so the war is completely justified
my wife!
Should I know him?
>America forced Japan's hand you underage fuck
Now that's a meme I haven't heard in a long time...
That's hardly the point.
The point is that the Japanese weren't blameless and had other options and knew it.
If you want to blame any party it's the inflexibility of the Japanese that resulted in them attacking.
Its bad
You aren't fooling anyone, Bay.
America?
>why is breaking every established rule of war and attacking a country unprovoked, bad?
I mean....America didn't start the war, Sup Forumsnigger, so...yes?
He was president during the early years of WW2. He suffered from polio and became wheelchair bound. The reason why the President's desk has that opening front hatch along the bottom was because he had it installed so people would easily notice that he was in his wheelchair while he was at his desk. Not sure if he died during his presidency or he stepped down due to health problems but Harry Truman took over as President during the final years war.
Well if ILM could just build an entire fleet of space ships, crew and launch them into orbit just to get the right shots for some 70s space operat then shouldn't we be able to do better in a 2001 movie? Not to mention the gigantic space station that they built and blew up three times for that movie series!
They actually thought bombing Pearl Harbour would scare the Americans. What were the thinking?
You mean to say, to AVOID people noticing his wheelchair.
it wasn't mainly to scare americans.
it was to destroy the fleet, so america had no way of attacking back.
they didn't count on that america's aircraft carriers woudn't be in the harbor.
I'm sorry it was a 2 hour bad origin story
It's better than Dunkirk.
I mean, we still don't shut the fuck up about Pearl Harbor.
Liv Tyler is not in Pearl Harbor, you're thinking of Armageddon
Pre-PH US pacific forces were as green as they come, there was no such thing as fighters pilots as they were all cross-trained on fighters/light bombers/heavy bombers, about 200 hours each. For comparison fresh japs recruits had 800 hours on a single aircraft type. I'm not familiar with the doolittle raid, but them using anyone with any sort of combat experience kinda makes sense.
glorifies dumb white goyim that ultimately did nothing in the end since jews had to create the ultimate weapon. without us US and her goyim would die.
>Fermi
You best quit talking shit homeboy.
Even JVN would've been bitchmade by Majorana.
Just wait until you get to 10th grade American History 2, and you find out why the US embargoed oil. It'll blow your mind.
>Sup Forums cucks responding this strongly to bait posters
holy shit you guys are hilarious
The Mike Tyson of B8posters.
I'm willing to bet it's the same guy from yesterday.
>a movie portrait of a very important event in the history of america
>the event being overshadowed by a twilight-tier love triangle
>demonizing the japanese people and acclaiming the american main characters as heroes
>michael bay
There you go
No, the final embargo of all oil products (not just high octane aviation fuel) was enacted after Japan occupied southern French Indochina in July 1941, a move that made sense only to threaten the area. FDR offered to make Indochina an economic neutral zone where everyone could trade for strategic material equally, but Japan said fuck off. They wanted bases for the coming war.
FDR froze Japanese assets and embargoed oil.
>learned history through LA Noire
But its more of a "REMEMBER THE ALAMO" kind of battle cry. 9/11 would be more apt for scaring Americans.
No, it was just trying to ape on Titanic's success and failed horribly
Seems like someone who shouldnt have become president then
Because of the first 80 minutes of love triangle shit. Skip all that and you've got a decent war/action movie. The attack on Pearl Harbor is quite spectacular.
KEK this. I wonder if he actually thinks that or if he’s baiting
I recently bought the Bruckheimer collection on Blu Ray and it has this but I've never seen it. Dunno if I should really.
I've read before that Bay wanted to do Tora! Tora! Tora! with all the modern bells and whistles but after Titanic happened Bruckheimer was all 'Nah let's do THAT nigga'
It's long af.
I remember the actual attack being pretty cool though.
Had to watch it in history class once.
Cool war.
Now Japan and America can't stop sucking each others dicks.
Please go back to your containment board please.
Superior Pearl Harbour Movie coming through
