You spam "EXPECTATIONS SUBERTED xD" because you know there is literally nothing wrong with this scene and you have no arguments and the only reason you don't like it is because it doesn't line up with your shitty theory.
You spam "EXPECTATIONS SUBERTED xD" because you know there is literally nothing wrong with this scene and you have no...
nice shit post thread mate
The argument is:
>How did a force user so powerful in the darkside exist outside of sidious's knowledge, and the jedi order for that matter. Darth sidious ravaged the galaxy, his number one priority was "Execute order 66". Kill them, kill every force user, anyone who can use the force is a threat and must be dealt with. On top of this, force lighting can only be conjured by aboslutely powerful dark side users, an ability passed down from sith to sith. This is why you never see darth maul. or savage opress use force lighting, but Darth Tyranus (count dooku) was trained by sidious to use it. If Snoke can conjure lighting, he is trained by a sith, if he was trained by the sith, that means he was apart of the rule of two, if he was apart of the rule of two, that means sidious was aware of him, but that contradicts sidious because he actively hunted darth maul because "THE FIRST AND ONLY REALITY OF THE SITH, THERE CAN ONLY BE TWO, AND YOU HAVE BEEN REPLACED"
>" You think you can turn him. Pathetic child. I cannot be betrayed. I cannot be beaten. I see his mind. I see his every intent! Yes. I see him turning the lightsaber to strike true."
>"And now, foolish child, he ignites it and kills his true enemy!"
If you think this is good writing please remove yourself from this board.
It's less about my theories and more about the rule that a plot twist should make a story MORE interesting, and not less. What do we gain from removing Snoke from the picture? Kylo being the leader now? Then why not just have him be the leader from the get go, what was the point of Snoke's character, other than mislead the audiences?
/thread. OP BTFO
/thread
He's from the unknown regions and Sheev DID know about him, or at least, his presence. He was discovered through the use of observatorys that Palpatine built in secrecy.
This so much, the only thing that it needed iis a shot of Kylo winking to Rey a second before he kills Snoke to make this the ultimate shlock
I had to stifle my laughter at that part. Jesus Christ, is that the best they could come up with?
I never thought of the rule of two meaning there is only two sith when Yoda said that, I figured he must have been there will always be at least two.
>dude he wasnt darth plagious so i'm butthurt lmao
1/10 honestly it's not even worth this reply.
If only any of that was vaguely suggested by the movies
His death is important for Kylo and Rey's character progression. Do you not see how Kylo is in a completely different spot now both physically and emotionally? It's an important moment for him and I can't wait for 9 to demonstrate this. I dont think people are going to be disappointed when they see why Snoke had to die when he did.
>Rey's character progression
Does Rey have a character to progress?
It didn't need to be because it's unimportant for the story being told.
Just like how Palpatines backstory wasn't explained until a completely different trilogy 10 years later.
>Rey
>Character progression
Pick one
Would have been kino
I don't mind Snoke dying, just the writing off that part when he dies is absurdly laughable. Him "foreshadowing" what's going to happen, the lightsaber slowly turning, Snoke literally explaining the scene with his words, youtube shorts have better writing
Dark side user =/= sith, he could be from unknown regions, developed outside jedi vs sith conflict (after all thats where Empire went after Jakku).
Yea I can agree with that. If I were to rewrite the scene I'd definitely make it more subtle.
Why are you talking like books and side material matter at all? The movies keep retconning those
>His death is important for Kylo and Rey's character progression
No it isn't
>defending a crappy b movie
Why did they tease us about how great and powerful he was?
Naturally, people will speculate.
So their most creative answer, to something they set up, was basically nothing?
More powerful than Vader and Palpatine?
Apparently not.
I get the feeling like they couldnt be bothered with all the loose ends from TFA, so they just said Reys parents were junkies and killed Snoke off without explanation of who he was
The point is they have to show that he was reading Kylo’s mind. He just couldn’t see that he was being tricked.
Yes it is?
Kylo just killed his master and final important figure in his life. It's just as important as when he killed Han.
This is the funny part, the new canon that was supposed to be more consistent with better oversight, keeps being retconed with every new movie
If they couldn’t be bothered why did they make Snoke death and Rey’s parents reveal critical points in the film?
To subvert your expectations XD
Stories, especially a trilogy, should develop plot and characters. Not add new characters in the second part before even giving your main characters much development, then killing off major characters for the sake of the twist.
Nothing in the new canon has been retconned yet. There is one inconsistency between two short stories but that's literally it.

Literally no one cares about books and anything other than the movies except for you. Your book logic doesn’t apply to the films. Even new cannon books get destroyed anytime a movie is made because the books just revolve around the movies. No one cares about them when writing and they never have.
Man it must suck trying to shill This piece of shit. I wonder if the mouse toys are worth it
Where the fuck did that post mention any books? Did you jump a few places in your spreadsheet?
When have the movies ever gone autistically into explaining lightning powers?
How? He already killed his father with his own hands in the previous movie, any sort of moral boundary he might've had is gone. Him killing Han was all we needed to know to understand what kind of person he is, killing Snoke didn't show us any new aspects of his personality that we didn't knew about already, the only thing it did was putting him on the lead which, again, could've been done from the get go
This was unbelievably bad. Also, we’re to believe that the saber scraped across the surface of that armrest in utter silence. They could have had Kylo levitate it, but no, that’s too much like thought. It’s just so fucking bad.
Why the fuck do you need books to explain lighting powers?
Only people using it are Sheev (most powerful Sith alive) and Doku (extremely powerful Jedi turned Sith and teached by Sheev). It isn't hard to imagine why no one else is using it retard
Killing Snoke meant he has taken power you idiot
He is no longer the angsty henchman but the leader
No, now he is the angsty leader
So your telling me your entire post earlier, which included all these claims about who can wield lightning, was completely based upon your headcannon?
They had to tie them up but didnt want to embellish them as much as they originally intended
But again, if Snoke never did anything or amounted to nothing, if he never had any sort of depth or thing going on, why not just have Kylo start as the leader from the beginning?
To mislead people
Are you telling me you can't put 2 and 2 togheter?
My expectations for Thebes quality of Sup Forumss front page has been successfully subverted. Thank you OP
How do the movies support the claim:
>if Snoke can conjure lighting, he is trained by a sith
Because Sidious and Dooku use lightning as well? Really? That is beyond putting 2 and 2 together.
And still not one bit of any of the new canon is even interesting.
Because his death is a writer's crime. A plot in a movie should not be taken by the audience as a "waste of time", things must follow build-ups specially if your core audience are normal people that feel no pleasure on being trolled.
Snoke's foolish death feels to the audience like someone is bulding a pyramide of cards while you watch, but before he gets to the ending he just punches the thing and looks at you with a smug look. It makes the writer feels smart, but the guy who looks will only ask himself "why". To subvert spectations is a shitty writing gimmick who comes only by pseudo-intellectuals who writes like they are masturbating: Only thinking on their own pleasure.
Fucking anime tier
this but unironically
>EP7 is shit
>shills spam saying that everything will be answered in EP8
>EP8 is shit
>shills spam saying that everything will be answered in EP9
Oh boy I wonder whats gonna happen next
>There are inconsistencies in the new canon
"No there aren't"
>W-well none of it's good anyway
Fuck off. You don't know a damn thing about the new canon.
The only bad parts of this movie were the casino planet scenes
And the ending
Before that it is alright
It's poor writing because he was written as a plot device rather than an actual character.
OP BTFO
...
It's time to stop defending the pile of shit you made, Rian.
Literally every part in the movie is bad. It starts dumb, develops porrly, and finishes in a shitty way.
Nothing moves forward, the move is a giant circle where all the characters don't change a little bit. It's like a giant filler.
OP GETTING FUCKED LIKE HIS DAD AT A GAY MEETING
HOLY SHIT
>EP7
>Kylo murders someone that trusts him and for that doesnt put any kind of defense and Kylo just gets a free kill
>before the murder Kylo is a bitter teenager, after the murder Kylo is a bitter teenager
>Kylo simply cant kill Rey
>EP8
>Kylo murders someone that trusts him and for that doesnt put any kind of defense
>before the murder Kylo is a bitter teenager, after the murder Kylo is a bitter teenager
>Kylo simply cant kill Rey
This.
>3 pages out of 4 years of content
Wow you sure showed me. I wonder if you are going to post something written by Chuck Wendig next. Maybe you will even resort to helecopter lightsabers.
Nah, the only bad parts of this movie were the casino planet scenes
>He even admits the new canon is filled with crap
I don't think you realize how much stuff there is in the new canon. You haven't proven anything.
Three pages is all that's needed. Sit your ass down and be humble, cuckboi.
And the retarded bomber scene, and anything involving the mindless space chase, and the insulting scenes on Luke's planet, and the fucking idiotic final battle,
If you think any of the Disney canon is good, you must be from Sup Forums. So go the fuck back.
I realise how much crap it is yeah
if it's just for the sake of subversion it's pretty cheap
>dude the x-wing the most common enemy ship is too small for us to hit it
>but sir we have guided missiles remember? We used them to shot down the T-Fighter that Finn and Poe used in the beggining of EP7 something that happened like 3 days ago
>shut it
And the weaponized hyperspace jump.
>the lightsaber slowly turning,
This is easily the worst part. It completely kills all the tension, because it's fucking obvious what's going to happen. The narration makes it even worse because it's so blatantly ambiguous. You may as well have Johnson winking at you through the screen.
When you add that to MaRey sue having plot armour than could tank the fucking death star, making you well aware they're never going to kill her, the scene becomes a complete joke.
It's the reason why maiming in Star Wars is so popular; it raises the stakes in a way that threatening death to a character we all know is never going to die never can.
>movie begins with Kylo being an unstable and overemotional dipshit who wants to slice everything that moves. His relation with his comrades of the first order is agressive, and the rebel alliance and Rey are his enemies
>lot of stuff happens, enough to make an personality progression
>???
>movie ends with Kylo being an unstable and overemotional dipshit who wants to slice everything that moves. His relation with his comrades of the first order is agressive, and the rebel alliance and Rey are his enemies
>movie begins with Rey being an shallow overpowered Mary Sue, everyone in the Rebels are her friends, and the First Order and Kylo Ren are her enemies
>lots of stuff happens, enough to make an personality progression
>???
>movie ends with Rey being an shallow overpowered Mary Sue, everyone in the Rebels are her friends, and the First Order and Kylo Ren are her enemies
Literally like an anime filler. You could ignore this movie and straight jump to IX just with the sentence "Forget Luke and Snoke exists" .
>i-if I mention the shit before they do, it makes it not fine!
"No!"
>Revenge of the Sith threads are based on memorable lines and moments
>The last Jedi threads are based on how awful the story and writing is and how we all hate it
What did Disney mean by this?
This. The lightsaber turning should've been a very small discretion shot in the background that you only notice on subsequent re-watches. Having the camera focus on it reminds me of the prequels where the camera always had to focus on a jedi losing their lightsaber.
It was too small and too fast. Remember at the very beginning when Poe has that extra engine strapped to him? And he tells BB8 to "punch it"? That was the reason they couldn't catch him. It was developed specifically for that purpose
>To subvert spectations is a shitty writing gimmick
You are correct in that the way it was handled in TLJ was extremely poor. However, this is incredibly stupid thing to say.
Subverting expectations needs to be done in a believable manner and in a way that as you correctly put doesn't leave the viewer thinking it was a waste of time. Taking a story into an unexpected territory which builds upon the previous section of the story, rather than knocking it all down. Further more, Comedy wouldn't exist without it.
And there it is. So predictable.
One book doesn't make the whole canon shit. Just like I wouldn't call the whole EU shit for all the nonsense it pulls.
Well, the dreadnaught doesn't have those, and the Finalizer's were destroyed three days ago. So we now have to assume that the Finalizer was the only Star Destroyer outfitted with them, since none of the other SDs readied their's. That's a pretty stupid retcon.
If you paid to see this movie you deserve all the bad things that happen. You have no one to blame but yourselves for making SJWars as bad as it's gotten. Not that it was really any good to begin with. Heh
No matter how many times I see this I can never believe that this is a real star wars book
>one book
three at least, and the rest are painfully mediocre, with the exception of the one based on an EU character.
Not to mention that each and every book, unlike the EU, actually has oversight; it wasn't the free for all clusterfuck that the EU was. There is no excuse for this shit.
He could literally pimpoint the shit in a fuckton of content and you would still repeat this same stupid excuse like a parrot. Why don't you go the other way around and show quality content on the disney canon, you lazy bum?
>Why did they tease us about how great and powerful he was?
When did they ever do this?
But if they can just so easily strap that into a X-Wing why not put one of those into every single one and then with a army of super fast and small x-wings you defete Empire 2.0 once and for all?
>the pilots arent good enough
What do you means pilots arent good enough? Poe is a regular guy he doesnt have the force. If he can do it other regular guys can do it.
>You
Who me?
You need to stop posting here, Rian. No one likes you.
The Emperor was established as the big bad when the movies first came out. The status quo didn't CHANGE because of him, it WAS because of him. Then he dies, the good guys win, and Snoke...comes out of nowhere and things basically revert to ground zero. How you can equivocate the two is absolute retardation and shows a basic inability to construct logical parallels. I bet you make shitty strawman arguments constantly in anything you contribute your thoughts toward.
Here's your (you)
Aftermath is a trilogy, don't be dishonest. It's fucking awful but not the worst of the new EU. But it says a lot when the best books are basically Romeo and Juliet in space and the Princess Leia book written by the same woman.
"always two there are, never more never less"
are you slow?
I'm getting tired of TLJ apologists.
This garbage was the worst SW movie ever made even worse than AotC and it will go down in history as such.
Your shitposting won't change that.
>Show the quality content
Thrawn
Bloodlines
Lost Stars
Phasma (reading this one right now and it's great.)
Vader Comics
The Clone Wars
Catalyst
Lando Comics
All of these are phenomenal and easily would be considered in the better half of Star Wars supplimentary material, even counting the EU. That's not even counting the "meh" stuff which isn't great, but definitely not bad like
Tarkin
Heir to the Jedi
Princess of Alderaan
The other Marvel comics
Good post, but I would contend that what you describe is how a *bad* writer uses subversion. A *good* writer can blindside you with something better, though unexpected. “Sixth Sense” is a great example of what I’m talking about. Instead of it being Bruce Willis, child therapist, coming into an understanding that his patient truly has a gift and helping him learn to cope with it, we learn that they were, in fact helping each other.
Tbh, Serkis gave a great performance aside from the shit dialogue.
