So about that cup. Why was it in many shows of the 90s?

popular cup, I cant remember what it was called but I saw a documentary about cups. There was those kind, there was the ones with white, then a blue blob and purple squiggly lines, and then there's the red solo cups

I'm more interested now in plates, these days. The plates in Boogie Nights that his mom puts his breakfast on in the beginning, my family had those plates irl but I can't find anything about them

Just generic takeout containers that are sold in bulk and used by many restaurants.

>autism: the post
you research plates?
get a job /NEET/

It was a design used by a major food service company like Aramark. The Jazz design was also really popular.

>the ones with white, then a blue blob and purple squiggly lines

the jazz cup.

Thinking about I don't think I've ever been in a pizza place that has soda on tap like at McDonalds. It's always just a fridge with like coke cans.

>the Law & Order font all over this brochure

aww yeah.

It’s actually strangely interesting. Like one particular graphic designer had the job of choosing a splash of colour and pattern that ends up becoming iconic and endemic to an entire decades worth of culture

it's not a story for another day, user.

I have a job, I live on my own. I just spent a little time googling popular plates and it didn't go anywhere. It's a hard lead to follow, like who do you call in a situation like this. Even if I had PTA's number I bet he wouldn't even know. So I wont say I've totally given up, bc if a new lead comes up, or maybe someone here will have something on it, but Im not gonna spend anymore time googling otherwise

Newfag

why are these in every college party movie?

Source of that cup documentary, user? My googling is weak.

sorry, so am I

beer pong and cup stacking dummy, imagine them trying to do that with the one George is holding in OPs pic. You are being preposterous

It is. The cultural impact the designer had is incalculable but she's responsible for tethering millions of people to a shared experience associated with the intimate act of eating.

not the original one I watched but this is also informative

screencap of the plates?

o shit thats them!

I think... or just very similar

Here in australia our plastic cups are solid colour white

>tfw don't know if deep or sarcastic

I do agree. A while ago I learned about Memphis Group, not from Memphis or even America, that was influential in creating what is considered to be the look of 1980's

They weren't known for the bigger public, but their works directly influenced a lot of the 1980's designers.

>ITC Avant Garde & Souvenir
and... Microgramma?

Goddamn I miss the 2000s

That's not from the 2000s ya finna gen-z mark

how sad

this shit is going to turn out to be either some genius salesman that sold it to big paper cup corporations OR some conspiracy bullshit where they tricked us into dealing with it.

It's always fascinating to meet someone who has never been outside

who needs an RX7 and synthwave when you could be blaring new jack swing in this

A woman who worked for Solo cups entered the design into a company competition. She won and got zilch for it.

Because things could be colorful in the past. Then all the smart people took those things away.
