Villeneuve will never, EVER make a movie with the budget of BR2049 again.

This is what happens when you let a dishonest hack a huge budget, he makes dishonest movies and most audiences avoid that

I usually find these twitter guys annoying, but that one was pretty good.

no shit. insane budget movie flops
i really liked it, but doesn't feel like 185M without marketing
no reason to be that pricy

BR2049 could probably have been made for 80-90 million if they had cut down on the pompous sets and gone with a grimy, claustrophobic aesthetic like the original.

so FINALLY the world is cathcing up to this guy being a hack.

Hated Enemy, hated Arrival... glad hes done.

He ain't wrong

more like talent privilege

He's currently writing Dune. Though I don't see how that can be financially successful in todays time, no matter how small the budget will be

t. salty samefag

BR2049 is already a classic

Cut Ford, and cut the Rachel cameo. That'd save like 20 million right there. Deckard was not needed for the film. The same plot could have been done with another Replicant couple.

>male privilege is making great films that don't take pot shots at societal groups based on identity politics
k
No, the producer will never make a film with that budget again. Directors are rarely blamed for box office failures unless it's genuinely because they made a shit film. But considering BR2049 is critically acclaimed, Denis will be fine. But they won't give him a budget like that again unless it's for an actual blockbuster that will appeal to normies

>glad hes done.
user he is making Dune and was offered to do the next Bond installment, his career is at an all time high

blade runner suffered because it got lumped together with aliens and ghostbusters and mummies and all the sequels that sucks

who knew it would be such a kino piece

More like white privilege.

Denis please...

>Deckard was not needed for the film
Both writers of the film completely disgree with you, without Deckard there needs to be a different story altogether

This really shows the embarrassment of genre fiction.
>oh hey, you made a sci-fi movie some people like? here, have the keys to every big sci-fi and horror IP ever

The price of dishonesty.

This. Ford was the worst part of the film.

Movies cost way too much now. With inflation, the original cost 78 million dollars and that was pretty much endless special effects.

>ford

leto was the worst

bowie would have been perfect

LOL

>Yet it fell far short of even conservative box office predictions. The film fared notably better in Europe than the United States – “Europe saved my ass,” Villeneuve jokes – but it was quickly branded a bomb, and its production company Alcon Entertainment is likely to lose $80million.

JUST

BR2049 flopped just because of America, did more than well everywhere else.
Based ameritards ensuring the culture remains as degenerate and capeshit filled as possible

>5 seconds in photoshop

nice try, troll

America and China

The movie is going to be renown(or is it renowned) in the future. It was a ray of light in the terrible years of capeshit, which will literally looks at as a dark time in cinema.

Why? It could have been any human and any Replicant. Do you think that no one else has ever stuck their dick in a replicant before?

For 2049, I was really invested in K, Luv, Joi, and K's story. I didn't give a shit about the myster, or the child. And I certainly gave almost no shits when Deckard showed up. I could tell that this was supposed to be the part where the audience went "omg Deckard's back!"

plus, Ford is an old man who can't act. He did his best for 2049, and it's probably the bset he's done for years, but he's still just awful.

my money is on DUNE being developed for TV. the fact that legendary bought the rights to all the books and not just the first one hints in that direction as well. I'm fine with that since there's no way you could cram that story into a single film, even one that ridley scott would call "too fucking long".

It's pure trash. The french leaf is the most dishonest "filmmaker" working today. He has never made a good film.

>Villeneuve recalls one of his producers’ gut reactions word for word: “The lights came up, and he turned around and said, ‘We’ve just made the most expensive art house movie in cinema history.’”

>“Let’s just say it would not be a good idea for me to make a movie like that twice,” he chuckles, in mellowly accented English. “When you’re working on a film you’re in a bubble, and it was only when I came out that I realised we had made a monster.”

>he’s said so far is that he intends for Dune to be like “Star Wars for adults.”

Reminder that this is Review Screw everybody

it wasnt filled with quips for the american audience.

>Deckard and Rachel ride off into the sunset never to be heard again.

There, better ending than what we got. Their story was done. I didn't care about those characters outside of the original.

"enemy spider"

>muh dishonestly
I doubt you even know what that means,.

the same retard using the word "dishonest" in every single BR thread

autism

Any BR2049 fans getting this?

Review Screw is legit the savior of Sup Forums, he made most of the few non-sheep here realize how dishonest this flick was

Is that real? Because that's just a generic 10 dollar t-shirt. I have like 5 of those.

this.

The "dishonest" meme came about back when La La Land was released, and I won't let Review Screw take credit for it

Oh great, so it's one autist who's taken memetics a bit too far

LMAO

Why are you again pretending to be someone else RS?
You have been BTFO beyond measure, go back to your call of duty lobby you pathetic literal redditor videogame manchild

>Is that real?
Obviously not. How fucking dumb are you?

So sad.
There's no room for good sci-fi movies anymore. I wonder how it would have performed, given the opportunity, if it was mixed with politics propaganda.
It was a honest movie and deserved a better financial outcome.

t. soyboy

>if it was mixed with politics propaganda.

good god no. BR is pure because it is not tainted with this. Even Logan couldnt escape the MULTICULTI sjw poison

BUYING NOW! I'LL LOOK JUST LIKE DEKER!

Ugh this is awful news, BR 2049 is pure KINO and Luv is my waifu, gonna go play my switch just to get my mind off this

You can't dig yourself up from this reviewfaggot, you have been exposed as the worst kind of posters Sup Forums could muster up, a videogame playing, twitter using, game of thrones/capeshit/starshit watching LITERAL redditor who said he's leaving Sup Forums because he got bullied too hard.
Your opinions will forever remain invalid here

It does have a political point, but it's relevant to males. A big theme is about male alienation in society, and how female compansionship and sex is only available through commercial means. It's a world without love or intimacy.

>he thinks soys embrace BR

lmao

BR doesnt have SJW points and its also 3 hours. soys hate it

If they had better marketing and advertisement, then it would had success in the box office.
I almost forgot that it was showing on the big screen until I saw the poster at my local theater.

i bought into the "ford wearing a tshirt this movie sucks" meme from tv and never got to watching it at the theatre

fuck you tv

Sony is just braindead when it comes to marketing

>thinking that promo shoots done by third party marketing companies have any corellation with the actual makers of the film at all
It's your fault entirely

Yes, but the difference is that this theme is concrete and true to modern society. A pattern like that has always been included since the first movie.
I meant how would it have been in case of propaganda, which implies a movie that tells you exactly what you have to think and do to be right, without letting you the opportunity to have personal thoughts. Because that's what happening and making some stupid movies gain a lot of money that will be used to produce similar movies promoted with false values.
What also would happened if critics said to audience, making feel guilty for something: if you don't watch and like this movie you are dumb, you are racist, you are sexist and so on?
What happened to 2049 is absolutely unfair and wrong for the movie industry itself.

>Yeah let's spend 10 mil here just to show a guy walking through an orange desert for 10 minutes
>Another 20 million for a water tank scene that no one can even see
>THE AUDIENCE WILL LOVE IT

They deserve it, producers are suppose to come in and say, whoa enough is enough

youtu.be/6iqmIoHL74Y

>Mendelson
I try, I try not to notice, but the truth always rears its head.

In retrospect, I don't know how The Revenant made more than 500 mil in the box office.
If it wasn't for the normalfaggot magnet DiCaprio the film wouldn't even make half of that

Deckard was the lamest character in the original Blade Runner and they still insisted in sticking into the new film.

Well the same writer has written both films, ofcourse he doesn't think a character he has written is lame

Yes. No magical hi-tech armour, no super powers, a difficult life, a shitty job and on top of everything he's a white guy in a chaotic megacity where a company rules.
It's too much to bare for modern mainstream audience used to watch movies to laugh&discuss hours on who's stronger: Cap or Black Panther?

I find ironic how this board celebrates old movies that were fucked by critics and/or audience but is enough contrarian to piss on 2049.
This place is worse than reddit at this point. Every other thread is piss on decent or genuinely good stuff (even acclaimed director, not middle-brow stuff like 2049), capeshit, SW, asses.
Is genuine garbage and no asshole you saved shit.
You contributed to bring this board down, as much as the purists that pissed on 2049 or Under the Skin can go to fuck themselves because non-braindead, middle brow movies will be more and more rare because of tastes and demographics.

>68 / 8 / 24 / 5
Review Screw, you are a sad piece of shit.

t. Review Screw

Ugh can this guy just, not?

Imagine being so desperate to use Mendelson as an argument.

>I find ironic how this board

You show exactly how little you know about the board and Sup Forums in your post but must concern troll about how it all used to be better before.

See you tomorrow, tourist.

>his first day on Sup Forums
Welcome

Sup Forums is easily the worst media-related board on Sup Forums. Even Sup Forums discusses non-mainstream games, while Sup Forums can't talk about anything besides capeshit and Star Wars and shits on everything else because of "contrarianism." Sup Forums is more obsessed over capeshit than fucking Sup Forums, you'd have an easier time talking about indie comics on Sup Forums that talking about indie or midbudget movies here.

Ford was awful in the movie. I say that as a fan.

It's the most genuine "acting" Ford has ever done in any roles.
Yeah that doesn’t say much I know

/tg/, an an example, is not this bad. You are tying to hide behind a finger.
This. Is the combination of Sup Forums, shitty moderation, turboplebs and pseudos that is an extreme cancer.

What a disingenuous, newspeak headline. "Hit by" layoffs, like layoffs are a force of nature like hurricanes or typhoons. No business is "hit by" layoffs, layoffs are an executive decision made to ensure the survival and profitability of a venture (for the leaders) at the expense of the workers. Nice try Haim.

>be a capeshitter
>dislike movie
>LEL IT DIDN'T EVEN MAKE MONEY
>WHAT ELSE ARE MOVIES FOR ANYWAY AMIRITE
>WHAT A HACK CANT EVEN MAKE MONEY
the absolute state of Sup Forums

>/tg/, an an example, is not this bad.

So you talk about this board, what this board was, and then you make a comparison with /tg/ - a slow enthusiast board.

So are you retarded or an amnesiac because you're not defending your point at all.

Would rather get K´s comfy coat.

So you have no defense about the fact that this is cancer and you are part of the problem because you are in denial - better attack me because I compared Sup Forums with another board of Sup Forums

but it's kino
cultured Sup Forumseddit cancer like webm related told me so

>[...] for a worldwide total of $259.2 million, against a production budget of $150–185 million.[6][7][8][9] The projected worldwide total the film needed to gross in order to break even was estimated to be around $400 million

I don't get how this works
could anyone explain how they need x2.5 the budget to break even?
or is the production budget really just the money needed to make the film and the rest is marketing and so on?

You've now moved the goal post entirely and you've given up even pretending you're from here or know jack shit about the board.

See you next time bud.

but it's shit
cultured literal Sup Forumseddit cancer like told me so

Cinemas take about half of the ticket revenue

Hilarious post and the cherry on top is you admit you're a Sup Forums trash. If your friends from years ago along with reddit NEVER cried on /q/ that Sup Forums wasn't the way they want it to be, you wouldn't be here right now making this post

t. part of the problem

oh so those numbers are basically "we sold tickets worth this much"
so that would explain why they need more than twice if the cinemas take half or so

Not an argument.

Also what fucking stick got implanted in your ass? You think you're going to turn the board around by shaming people? You think you can talk Sup Forums into a change of heart?

Seriously, no joke, are you a retard?

I've probably been on Sup Forums longer than you have. I've browsed pretty much every non-anime board at some point, and yes, I can say with confidence Sup Forums is one of the worst boadrs on Sup Forums, far worse than Sup Forums. Hell, it's probably worse than most places on reddit. The fact is, no one here is willing to talk about film, and whining about reddit or Sup Forums isn't going to change anything.
