Fantasy Comics

The kind with swords, barbarians, wizards, witches, knights, dragons n such

Why isn't there more of em?

Also recommendations for any if know of some

Autumnlands
Prince Valiant
Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld (really)
Elric (a whole Elric bunch of comics have PCR on art which is a treat)
Ironwolf
Conan is surprisingly consistent vs. Red Sonja which is not consistent
Demon Knights
Warlord
The 4e D&D comic which had no title except 'Dungeons and Dragons'

Man, some of these are old class hits, thanks for the recommendations, though it's got me kinda worried there's been nothing much done for fantasy comics recently

What's the one this panel is from? Looks pretty good.

Monstress I guess is the big one currently. I quite like it but not as much as some other people do, I don't think it's the second coming of fantasy or anything. But definitely I would say it's worth picking up in contrast with e.g. Rat Queens which is a steaming pile of shit IMO.

Deathdealer, comic was pretty short though

Get some Sláine in your life, man.

I remember seeing one done by that gal who did the short medieval web comic jokes, I can't remember the name exactly but the main character was a girl who was balding or something, I was wondering if that one was any good but I couldn't find its name or any opinions on it

I want Krull, Conan, Slaine, and the Deathdealer all to meat up for a doomguy style death orgy

Damn where has autumnlands been all my life

At Kurt Busiek's pen?

Judge do you read the 'Elf' webcomic? It seems right up your street albeit it may now be ded.

Honestly, there's a porny lesbian one called I Roved Out that you'd probably enjoy too.

There's this Scandinavian series called Thorgal. I'm not sure if it's got any good translations, but it's Nordic sword-and-sorcery with some very minor sci-fi elements.

Elfquest

El mercenario
It's a Manga, but Nausicaa of the valley of the wind by Miyazaki

>Warlord
My man!

Prophet

it's conan the barbarian. IN SPACE. it's fucking awesome. and no, it's not all lasers and shit. it's wizards and swords and witches and barbarians. it even has a spaceship that attacks by punching stuff. with fists.

There some European ones, like Thorgal or Bird of Time.
Everything American I could recommend was already mentioned.

Sounds hilarious but also awesome

Conan (Marvel) [for the first 10 years or so]
Conan (Dark Horse) [when written by Busiek, Truman, or Thomas]
Kull (Marvel)
Solomon Kane (Marvel)
Robert E. Howard's Savage Sword
Hawks of Outremer
Elric

Pic related is a fantasy series about elves, with a parrallell series focussing on dwarves in the same world. It's pretty good and has an overarching plot while still have a story per volume. Some recurring characters between volumes. They've started translating them from French to English.

A story that focuses on Elves and doesn't just feature them as Tertiary characters? That's original.

>Why isn't there more of em?
Image is publishing a bucket load of fantasy lately.

What image?

Elric. All of Elric.

Prophet is what happens when /tg/ is allowed to write a sequel to 90ies BLOODPOUCH comics.

I think he means Image comics, the third largest creator and distributor of comics (The Walking Dead, etc.) But what do I know.

Unironically this

Pretty sure you can read it legally for free on the website too.

...

Just wish it were either the original colouring or the black and white...they're so damn gorgeous.

This looks like it should be porn

Well, you do have at least one mass orgy in this series, so...

>it even has a spaceship that attacks by punching stuff. with fists.
I was hyped until I read this. At first it sounded like one of those old-school space fantasy stories, but that makes it sound like the kind of thing that tries to revive an old genre but looks at it through the modern lens of "lol, they were so crazy and wacky back then" and ends up being more like some sort of parody than anything that was actually in that genre.

It's actually extremely good. It reminds me of Rogue Trooper more than anything else, maybe kind of Rogue Trooper meets Tsutomu Nihei?

I make basileuscomic.com you might like.

I'm pretty sire the fist fighting ship is actually a reference to the anime Outlaw Star.

Prophet is irony free, those dudes wanted to make the ultimate "boys action comic"

I mean it even treats the characters from 90's Image with a sense of reverence. There is an alien space ship using the corpse of Supreme ( Liefeld's Superman) as a energy source

There is manga named Claymore.

Not sure how good it is.

Haven't seen either but I'm definitely digging that image. Gonna check 'em out soon. Thanks!

my nigga, elfquest is one of my favorite comics of all time

You'll have to look for it, but Grell's Warlord is tops.
