There was a screencap going around for a while showing that, after release, conservative estimates for the film were still predicting $1.9 bil. Also consider that big blockbuster sequels like this tend to make more than their previous iteration (John Wick, Taken, Transformers etc) or at least in the same ballpark. A $700 mil drop off is unprecedented
