>before Han Solo death >Kylo is torn between both sides of the force >after Han Solo death >Kylo is torn between both sides of the foce >before Han Solo death >Rey is a kickass that succeeds on everything she does >after Han Solo death >Rey is a kickass that succeeds on everything she does >Before Han Solo death >Leia is still in love with him or at least the memory of him >After Han Solo death >Leia is still in love with him or at least the memory of him
Should I go on? What was the point of killing him if it doesnt progress the development of the characters, specially Kylo? Was the point to make Kylo a badass for murdering the legendary Han Solo? Why should that turn in into a badass? Basically he just murdered a defenseless old man, I can do that. Did Disney killed Han Solo just because they felt someone of the OT had to die or what?
Ford was only ever gonna do one film, so they effectively had to kill him off. They did it by having Kylo kill him to make him seem super dark side and hardass which is alright, but completely ruined when you throw in comedic tantrums and he's nerfed for the rest of the series. They hit you over the head with how conflicted Kylo is about killing his parents, but he never seems to give half a fuck about them after they're dead nor go further dark side, he's just pissed all the time. They can't develop characters for shit.
Lucas Gonzalez
Basically. Don't assume there is a grand narrative planned with the Star Wars movies. Anything that happens is crafted solely for the purpose of contriving justifications for more movies. We are well past the natural endpoint of the story that was RotJ.
Christopher Rodriguez
Remember at the end of of TFA when Snoke says it's time for Kylo to complete his training Then that's just kind of forgotten in TLJ
Sebastian Carter
Also,
>Rey has personal reason to hate Kylo after he kills Han in front of her because he was a father figure (kinda?) >Within the space of another half a movie she's engaging in lewd hand-touching with Kylo
Wow forgot that real quick as soon as a hot force-dicking was on the table.
Liam Wood
Ford was reluctant in starring in more than one movie
Jason Roberts
>watching star wars in the year 2018
Ryder Green
Oh no, apparently that meant killing Rey, he brings it up in TLJ.
Why killing her would be more of a training-ender than killing his own father is not explained though.
Benjamin Perry
accurate, also killing someone has little impact if we don't understand why you did it. i still don't know what he's so pissed about that justifies any of this, it's probably something dumb
Carson Fisher
You don't get it, user. TLJ was the subversion of TFA and of the entire SW mythos in general.
Joseph Reyes
Ford isn't cheap. That was the point.
Now why would you kill Luke is such a cheap way in a pointless battle...
Logan Edwards
To subvert your expectations
Ethan Diaz
We know it's something dumb, it's because he saw Luke standing over his bed with his lightsaber on. That's the reason TLJ gives.
Is that fucked up? Yeah. Is it fucked up enough to immediately go kill a bunch of other students and turn the rest to the dark side, then fuck off to a bunch of Empire wannabes so you can start slaughtering innocents and taking over the galaxy? Hell no, not that alone.
Daniel James
She knew Han for what, a week though? The father-figure thing always felt like forced wank to me imo. >Wow forgot that real quick as soon as a hot force-dicking was on the table. As far as these movies go this is not unrealistic.
James Stewart
I like that you think this is iconic and deserves even a minute for a HD screencrab
Elijah Young
Felt forced to me too, I actually didn't even realize it was supposed to be a plot element until I watched TLJ and then read some other posts about that supposedly being a thing. I didn't get an organic sense of that at all from TFA and was kinda confused as to why she and Finn were so upset about it. Chewie's reaction was the only believable one.
Logan Hernandez
Star Wars movies are shitty movies made by executive committees for the sole purpose of making money. The answers to all the inconsistencies and shortcomings in the plot/characterization flow from that single fact.
Cameron Evans
>Is that fucked up? Yeah. Is it fucked up enough to immediately go kill a bunch of other students and turn the rest to the dark side, then fuck off to a bunch of Empire wannabes so you can start slaughtering innocents and taking over the galaxy? Hell no, not that alone. The films are shit at explaining this, but I gather Snoke's been in Kylo's head for years before that point and was telling him stuff like the jedi are fucked, your family is fucked and are gonna kill you, everything they told you about grandpa and the dark side is wrong, etc. Luke standing over him with the lightsaber pretty much just confirmed all that and he flipped. Which of course just begs the question how the fuck Luke could fuck up so badly and why they just let Snoke get away with this shit for so long.
I wonder if they'll just handwave his relationship with his parents. In TLJ all he says about Han is that he 'didn't hate him'.
Jonathan Nguyen
There was a progression, kylo didnt kill Leia cause he still felt bad about Han Then after he teams up with rey he is full evil again
Lucas Ward
it isn't even fucked up, he needs to grow a pair
Aiden Moore
Because they killed OB1 in the original trilogy.
It's like poetry.
Thomas Ward
that's all? the shit i've seen standing over my bed. imagine thinking a little sleep paralysis is grounds to go on an intergalactic killing spree? they paid someone to write this shit?
Kayden Lee
The point of it was to fill Ford's contract that said he wanted to permanently exit the series.
Brayden White
It could be a progression, or, it could be that they literally won't allow their villain to hurt a girl. Who the fuck knows
Adrian Martin
In the original drafts snoke had a red twilek that he use to seduce him, he coukdve reedemed himself after killing snoke and now she would be the baddie on IX but Disney doesnt want evil females
Samuel Thomas
What I meant is that the movie hinted a progression and then didnt deliver, it was meaningless Expectations subverted though, thanks ryan
Lincoln Reed
Unless that female villain is fully covered and hardly even female-looking like Phasma, then it's fine.
Julian Roberts
We are exactly at the same point we was in the beggining. Rey still doesnt know where her parents are or why they left her, Kylo is still torn, Poe is leading the resistance but not, Finn is the only one with progression. He learned how to fly in the span of 3 days
Michael King
Darth Talon is a trash character and only existed to give teenagers boners.
Robert Harris
It's like you didn't even watch the movie. Kylo immediately regrets killing his father and is a mess at the beginning of TLJ. He also can't kill Leia and flinches when Luke mentions Han will always be with him. They literally cut to Leia's devastated reaction after this scene.
Grayson Diaz
What better character, then, to lead a young man astray?
Leo Hill
He has the hots for Rey, are you retarded?
Adam Edwards
Especially since it's about just executing her on her knees in his throne room, he doesnt even let her fight
In TFA he's like "Bring her to me" when he learn of her power but when he actually get her in TLJ he just want Luke's location and then throw her in the trash for some reason
Ian Lee
>trash character This term can be applied to 90-95% of all SW characters. And Sci-fi characters in general.
Aiden Green
The point of Han's death is that it's actually the seed that will redeem Kylo in the end. That's what "split [him] to the bone" as Snoke said and it keeps coming up again for his character. In his convos with Rey, in his convos with Luke, Snoke, the dice Leia seems to have left for him that he was holding in the end. In the end, he will embrace the "weak and foolish" part of him that is his father's side.
Jose Cooper
You're trying to make sense out of a script written by a retard and a mongoloid.
Jaxon Baker
because Snoke knew about the forcebond between them and manipulated it to make them fall in love, I kid you not. He literally tells Rey he know she would "take the bait" and go to Kylo to try and turn him and that Kylo "was too weak" to hide his "weakness" from her. He wanted them to bond and have Kylo kill her mercilessly so there would be nothing left to pull him to the Light side. If he couldn't, he was likely going to kill Kylo and Rey or try and make Rey his new student instead.
Jayden Jones
>it's another redeemed at the very end movie How much of the OT are they going to rehash?
Adam Perry
Han Solo is part time now
Nolan Nguyen
ford wanted out, so JJ killed han /thread
Brayden Barnes
How did JJ get away with killing Harrison Ford?
Luis Ortiz
Not even that. It was less than a fucking day
Sebastian Adams
the amount of noses in that video is indescribable
Henry Watson
The scene was supposed to show that despite Kylo committing an irredeemable act, Rey was willing to forgive him in TLJ and even attempt to bring him back to the light side.
God what an amazing heroine.
Henry Brown
Par for the course then
Bentley Lewis
He wanted to get killed off back in Empire, but Lucas told him they'd give him a superb send off in Jedi, and reneged on that.
Alexander King
You would think that he would have just left the order and become a ronin or something.
Logan Hernandez
how can anyone trust abrams after the abomination that was Lost I have no idea fuck him and his mystery boxes
Angel Russell
And there was no timeskip between movies either. She went from hating him to being convinced that he was redeemable within a few days at most.
Samuel Williams
All of it.
Aiden Baker
He'll live so it's different kek
Hunter Powell
Yeah it's bullshit, but I give it a pass because Harrison ford doesn't give a shit about star wars and didn't want to be in any of the films anymore. With luke they deliberately fucked him to give rey more character basically and it was fucking dumb.
Blake Edwards
It's almost like they have a forcebond that allows them to see into each other's heads and went through similar emotional experiences and loneliness so are drawn to each other and empathize. Not to mention Rey finding out the legendary Luke Skywalker actually tried to murder his nephew in his sleep. Rey is realistically more attached to Kylo than anyone else at this point.
Kevin Sanders
I'll laugh if they bring him back as a force ghost like they did with guiness
Jonathan Reed
What higher cause could there be for art?
Sebastian Nguyen
>Luke has almost no reaction to Han being dead massive missed opportunity for some emotion and they completely sidelined it for more time with Rey because god forbid the posterboy of the franchise gets some screentime.
Lincoln Collins
They're killing off anything they cant use, like OT, quite literally.
James Miller
yeah I wonder (((why)))
Parker Rivera
>doesn't bother to try to turn his nefew to the light >doesn't give a shit about his friend dying >doesn't give enough of a fuck to bother actually fighting >dies like a bitch Rian is a hack
Hudson Scott
OP you are a retard if you are even too slow for star wars. KYS.
>what was the point of obi-wan? >what was the point of qui-gon?
Jaxson Anderson
nice bait
Zachary Hughes
go back to school brainlet
Julian Long
Kill yourself soyboy
Matthew Cruz
Harrison Ford didn't want to be in episode VIII and IX. He barely wanted to be in episode VII.
Evan Morales
Says the faggot probably unemployed with no responsibility of a real man
Joseph Jenkins
Every character from the ST is trash and none of them give anyone boners. That means Talon is objectively better than any of them.
Nathan Barnes
You absolute moron that is exactly the point OP is making. Imbecile.
