Morris, who had been criticized over Lucky Luke's cigarette for a long time...

>Morris, who had been criticized over Lucky Luke's cigarette for a long time, answered his critics: "the cigarette is part of the character's profile, just like the pipe of Popeye or Maigret".[7] It is claimed that Morris was forced to remove cigarettes Lucky Luke smokes from his strip and Lucky Luke who "used to be a heavy smoker", had to give up smoking for "commercial reasons", apparently to "gain access to the American market".

How does it make you feel?

Editorial interference always sucks.

Good smoking is the worst addiction. If you consider the high/price/danger then you get a shitty package.

I'm glad he got over his addiction.

...

You know how I know you don't know any alcoholics?
>if you can't quit smoking you're pathetic

He didn't say anything about quitting, just that the people who fell for it got played hard.

Okay. Him chewing on a twig is about as iconic for anyone born after 1970.
t. French smoker

Tobacco feels good and I'm not addicted, I didn't fall for shit.
Smoker-phobes are the absolute fucking worse.

>I'm not addicted

...

Rite? Let's not pretend that we all don't care more about fictional characters than actual people. I bet his teeth are brighter and he's lost that awful cough too.

I heard he got reallllly fat though.

Smoker-phobes? Maybe the rest of just want to have to deal with the stink of your smoke you weak-willed piece of shit. And then we get to pay for your healthcare when you're dying of emphysema because your pack-a-day habit left you unable to afford insurance.

Really smokers, just off yourselves and do the world a favor already you pathetic assholes. Unless you're actively trying to quit, then more power to you and don't give up!

I liked how he kept trying to light his hay straw in the volume after he quit.

When do you start chemo?

is there a strip about him struggling from nicotine withdrawal? i'd read that

There's a pretty recent comic where he rides into a town where a heatwave and tobacco shortage puts everyone on edge

Remember, if you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.

he's a cowboy. who cares? people really have nothing better to do.

I found out that these characters exist about a week ago because I found some animator on twitter who is incredibly skilled at animating but chooses to draw the characters as ugly as possible

Also she draws Lucky Luke fucking Coco Bill all the time, except he looks like the jelly jiggler from that bobobo anime

Lol, now I get it.Your post about alcohol is just
a defensive "whataboutism".
Every addiction is a trade and smoking and drinking are bad trades. You can argue all day which one is worse but that doesn't make your hobby good.

I told you I fucking like smoking, this is exactly what I'm talking about, smoker-phobes are all such close minded people. And no I told you I'm not addicted, I've smoke 3-4 cigs a day for relaxation in the past 3 years, that's not addiction, I have self control.
>but that doesn't make your hobby good
Well at least you recognise it as a hobby and not an addiction, It's a pleasurable and enriching past time for me and I wish more people did realise that.
Also that wasn't me who made that point about alcohol but he has a point there. Alcoholics harms innocence bystanders through violence, smoking doesn't.

>Alcoholics harms innocence bystanders through violence, smoking doesn't.

More whataboutism. If you find 3 more problems with other drugs then you won't get cancer, don't smell like an ashtray and your teeth aren't yellow anymore.

>I told you I fucking like smoking, this is exactly what I'm talking about, smoker-phobes are all such close minded people. And no I told you I'm not addicted, I've smoke 3-4 cigs a day for relaxation in the past 3 years, that's not addiction, I have self control.

Are you my brother? Cause he said the same exact thing like 15 years ago when I told him he should quit smoking before he got addicted.
"I'm not addicted, I can quit anytime I want, but I don't WANT to cause I like smoking".
Turns out, he was very very wrong about that. The good news is he was finally able to kick it (when he was in a situation where he pretty much had to), the bad news is it took him more than a decades worth of failed attampts before he succeeded.

That's the road you're choosing, user. But sure. Keep telling yourself that you're not fucking yourself up.

What about bad smoking?

technically he wasn't really "forced", he accepted because he knew there was money to make. People around him got mad, but Morris himself saw it on a professional and commercial stand point.

The only reason 3-4 cigs a day is "relaxing" is because you've already fucked up enough to not feel relaxed without them. Quit that shit before you regret it.

Smoking cigarettes is disgusting and everyone knows. At least cigars look cool.

Shame
>I'm not addicted
I don't believe you.

Not all alcoholics are violent. You watch too many movies. Lots of people drink themselves to death rather quietly.

But hey, at least there's no such thing as passive drinking.

There is, if you count going to university as being passively forced into functioning alcoholism

Man I was with you until this point, but 3-4 cigs a day, for what I assume is every day, I dunno...

The straw looks better.

It's a happy accident.

>LQBTS-movement
>Lesbian, Queer, Bi, Transexual, Smoker

I don't want to deal with people who have dogs or who text while walking but I don't go around ranting about it at every occasion I get.

Well atleast he doesn't vape.

Or as I like to call it; tip the fedora of the mouth.

>but I don't go around ranting about it at every occasion I get
>he's doing precisely that

>Crazy Wolf: Ooooh, Crazy Wolf finally gave up smoking!
>Lucky Luke: Yep, me too!
>Crazy Wolf: Did you suffer from many cravings?
>Lucky Luke: Yep — I had to chew on a piece of straw for a long time.

absolutely disgusting

That's pretty much the first time I've mentionned that, ever, and it was to make a point. And It wasn't a rant, just a mention.
On the other hand I've seen threads and threads of people going on about how smoking's bad mm'kay on Sup Forums alone.

So people aren't allowed to smoke in fictional works because certain people high up in the entertainment industry get butthurt about it. I don't even smoke either and think it's gross but it's pretty ridiculous.

Drunk driving. Alcohol is way, way worse than smoking. Smoking harms only the individual, alcohol harms wider society through drunk driving, physical violence, sexual violence and generally the absolute moral degeneracy that comes from bing drinking and alcohol culture in general.

Wrong. Second hand smoke is a thing. I was a sickly asthmatic until the parent stopped after my last hospital visit

slate.com/articles/health_and_science/medical_examiner/2017/02/secondhand_smoke_isn_t_as_bad_as_we_thought.html

I knew that would come up and yes, secondhand smoke can have negative health effects but the negative effects have turned out to be largely overblown once more statistically significant and better researched tests were done.

Also that's to say nothing of the more ridiculous proposals people have done (i.e. banning outdoor smoking as well or even, as Vox advocated, smoking in your own home). To me, while smoking is obviously harmful to one's health, it comes with a "the government knows what's best for you" style of control. Remember the ban for soda above a certain size in NYC a few years ago that failed? You're going to wind up getting more of this type of stuff where the government bans things "for your own good" exercising increasing control over what you can and cannot consume be it literally with food, drink and whatnot to media and other things.

Samefagging but those aren't overblown fears either. Look at Britain where Theresa May is using moral (anti-pornography actions) and criminal (we must fight online extremism) in naked attempts to exert further and further government control over the internet. To say nothing of the people who get visits from the police there for saying mean things about certain ethnic groups on twitter or facebook. Do not ever doubt a state's desire to use any excuse it can find to exert more control over the citizenry.

what I find hilarious is the people who are against tobacco use but smoke weed 8 hours a day

I heard that weed is as toxic as tobacco

Is it true?

As long as it fits story wise, otherwise it just shit

I'm surprised they even still are doing Lucky Luke stuff

Smoking looks cool but it smeels like fucking shit. Both my parents felt for that meme.

>Smoking looks cool
Oh, yeah. So cool to see junkies smoking in bars or leaving restaurants every 10 minutes to lick a cancer stick.

>(You)

people love Xilam's shows

>Tobacco feels good
>I'm not addicted,
It only feels good once you're addicted. It can taste good before if you have shitty taste, but it doesn't feel good.

As someone who doesn't smoke I have to agree.
As long as we're not talking about pregnant women, kids, or smoking in close proximity of kids, who gives a shit? It's not like it dopes you up.

Eh. Most of the 'baccy smokers I know are pretty mean-spirited, even for blue collar workers with shitty lives.
