6 batman begins
7 the prestige

If you liked Memento, you'll like Following. It's similar in structure. But of course, it's an indie film with a low budget so don't expect a lot.

I didn't care too much for Interstellar. I was forgettable for me. I actually like Dunkirk more.
Although, my favorite is Memento.

I unironicly love this film. It also great that I can watch it with a girl and she likes it since it a costume drama and for me the story is fun.

The film was good. Here is my objectively correct Nolan ranking of his movies:

1. The Dark Knight
2. Memento
3. Inception
4. Dunkirk
5. The Prestige
6. Batman Begins
7. Interstellar
8. The Dark Knight Rises
9. Insomnia
10. Following

The time travel, cloning and Tesla namedropping was BRUH LOOK AT THIS DUDE tier. How anyone can unironically think this is good is beyond me.

Insomnia>Interstellar>Inception

>time travel
wat

Nolan is a fucking hack, all his movies are ridiculous.

The only thing of value Nolan has ever produced is Baneposting, and that's us laughing at him not with him.

kys

>Interstellar
>anywhere near the top 5, let alone 1

Lmao'ing at your life rn

Absolutely patrician ranking

You guys only like Nolan ironically, right? There's no way any of you actually think he's good, is there?

Fun fact that in China Interstellar is viewed as a all time masterpiece.

I will always love the fact that inception is a film that works on a lot of levels, including being a stealth cyberpunk movie.

Imagine having this bad taste.

XD

I don't have to imagine senpai.

Uh, no sweetie.

1. Following
2. Interstellar
3. The Dark Knight Rises
4. Insomnia
5. Memento
5. Dunkirk
6. The Dark Knight
7. The Prestige
8. Batman Begins
9. Inception

I was so fucking mad when I saw this movie. It’s such ridiculous bullshit.

All of Nolan’s films have objectively been intentionally convoluted, poorly thought out “twists” that are meant to make the audience say “oh wow if I don’t understand it it’s gotta be genius”.

The only good that ever came from Nolan was Memento and Baneposting

What did you find convoluted about the prestige? Was there anything that you didn't understand?

this negro gets it, although inception ggets bonus points for visual effects and Leo

Both fucking retards.

1. Memento
2. Dunkirk
3. The Pretige
4. Following
5. Insomnia
6. Interstellar
7. Capeshit

And also the quintessential “why are these astronauts so dumb?” movie

>begins above dark knight
>DKR at 5
disagree with prestige at 1st but i'll let you go
pretty gud
>tfw reversed list is actually more accurate

Not that guy but the twist with there being multiple versions of the dude was fucking stupid. It was a good movie about magicians. It didn't need some scifi garbage slapped on at the end because Nolan doesn't understand the concept of not fixing what isn't broken.

The Prestige isn't that convoluted.

Actually most of his movies are not.

Batman movies are not convoluted at all.
Insomnia is just a remake
Inception gives you huge visual clues to make sure anyone who paying attention knows what going on.
The Prestige is just playing a stage magic trick on you

Interstellar is convoluted since it deals with time compression.

And Dunkirk is as simple as it comes, it even at the start tells you exactly were in the timeline it is so brainlets can follow.

No, thats Alien: Covenant

Why is Memento so overrated on Sup Forums ? Stupid gimmick movie

I thought wolverine's twist was foreshadowed really well, and it was a neat extension of batman's twist.

The only twist was that Christian Bale and his manager are twins.

>stage magic trick
That's what pissed me off about it actually. It wasn't a stage magic trick. It was straight up cloning and he's fucking shit magician if he has to rely on that to do what other magicians have been doing for centuries using only clever trickery.

I think he's talking about the fact that at the start of the movie Alfred explains the three parts of the a stage trick, the pledge, the turn, and the prestige, and the movie is written to include those three parts as if it was a magic trick.

That wasn't the trick user, the trick is that Borden is a twin.

So what, you telling me the clones weren't real or something?

You missed the entire theme about self sacrifice. It's not about who is a better magician.

It wasn’t so much convoluted as it was an insult to tha audiences intelligence. The film was supposed to be about realism and the secret behind the creation of a trick, and then the twist is “haha Magic is real”?

Are you fucking serious? Bullshit science fiction tacked on in a period that makes no sense? He has to fucking kill all of his clones? And then keeps them in a warehouse?

It’s beyond retarded. They just gave up writing anything compelling when they got to the third act

His earlier stuff wasn’t convoluted yes, but they’re needlessly retarded in the writing department, making it seem like more is going on when in fact jack shit is going on

Memento was his first, but it worked. The Prestiege was his impression of M Night Shamylan. Inception is a hilariously overcomplicated idiotic story that he plagerised from a Duck Tales. Interstellar is flat out appalling

Exactly. The film tells you the three parts of a magic trick and then does a magic trick in front of you.

youtube.com/watch?v=fU0uiGAm_SY

It actually a simple, and quite good movie.

Its the best Nolan film, only inception can compete

Maybe he wouldn't have to sacrifice himself if he wasn't, you know, a fucking garbage magician with zero actual talent?

Begins is the best of the 3

>gimmick movie

being this brainlet

>t-the shitty asspull wasn't even real haha guys it was just Nolan tricking you haha he's so smart and meta
This is what Nolandrones actually believe.

You are missing the entire point of the movie. Both self Sacrifice, but also what is a magic trick.

Honestly can't believe how many brainlets there are on this board. Interstellar or Dunkirk anywhere near the top of any list is a fucking joke

this nigga gets it

Then enlighten me on what the point is because unlike you I am clearly a pleb who cannot understand the true brilliance of Nolan.

The cloning (more like duplicating) part was so atrocious, that Tesla rolls over in his grave for making him a part of this farce.
It doesn't even work properly on the story level, since they introduce a heavy sci-fi twist out of fucking nowhere at the end of the movie.

Yeah you're right, but that wasn't the point.

>there are plebs who find Nolan movies convoluted
Holy shit these are the most straightforward movies you can find outside capeshit

>The film was supposed to be about realism and the secret behind the creation of a trick

Huh?

Memento is told backwards yes, and it has a tricks at the end.

Inception makes painful steps to babystep yourself though the story which is not over complicated (Its a damn simple story). The fact that you say it complicated makes me question your ability to comprehend.

He made two movies that where complicated. Memento and Interstellar.

The Prestige you are just buthurt since it has science fiction elements and you don't understand it was about what both sacrificed to be where they got to.

That's the fucking point. Jackman's character was a fucking hack. He stole all of Bale's material and when that wasn't enough he "borrowed" Tesla's machine. He wasn't willing to make a true sacrifice for his craft like the twins and the old Chinese magician were.

I wouldn't really call it an asspull. It was foreshadowed the entire movie. Like I said before, it's an extension of borden's trick. The only way to do the trick was with a double, which he couldn't do as well as Borden since he didn't have a twin, so he went to the lengths that he did to best him.

This, Memento is the only one that tries to be cute. The rest of his films, even If when they are good I really like them, are not hard films to follow or understand.

You are shown all three stages of a magic trick. The pledge, the Turn, and the Prestige. Then the movie does so.

In addition, a theme running in the film is how both sacrificed everything to be a success, and the prestige isn't that Telsa duplication technology, but the fact that the other one was a Twin and what they went though.

Yet you claiming that I think the movie is complicated. Hell Heat is a more complicated film then the Prestige.

this

They would be more or less convoluted if any normal person was directing them. But Nolan feels the irresistible need of explaining the audience what's going on on the screen every five minutes.
It also doesn't help that the explanations are often totally retarded.

That’s the fucking point of what I’m saying. He needlessly tried to overcomplicate Inception when it’s a basic ass story with tons of window dressing meant to confuse the viewer.

He made THREE complicated films. 1 of them is good

>Interstellar
>complicated
sure, if you're a complete retard

>a completely different element belonging to different genre (which is more like bullshit-fiction than science-fiction anyway) is not an asspull
kys faggot

It is compared to some other films. Recall, I am replying to a guy who thinks inception is complicated.

There nothing there to confuse anyone. In fact, he handholds you though the steps so that you can't get confused. That why the visual styles are set up to be so not-alike.

Hell, I not seen the film in years but I can tell by visual clues which "dream level" the story is on just looking at a screen cap. It that fucking obvious.

Now, you can argue if Inception is really a film about making films, or it a heist film, or if Cobb is dreaming or not the entire time. However that not due to complication in the story or how it presented.

Interstellar isn't that complicated, but it more complicated then most blockbuster films.

Inception is not a complicated story at all.

oh yeah explain black holes to me now then

they're extremely powerful gravity wells that suck matter in.
but why would I explain black holes? the movie doesn't do it. it confuses them with wormholes lmao.

No they don't. The wormhole and the black hole where not the same thing.

Perhaps you need to you know, pay attention to a film that you don't feel is complicated.

>Interstellar isn't that complicated, but it more complicated then most blockbuster films.
FUCKING HOW? Explain this. How is Interstellar in any means complicated?

they literally go into a black hole that serves as a wormhole you retard

Best Nolan film

youre fucking ridiculous

No they don't.

The only character that goes into a black hole is Cooper.

And you are calling people retarded.

The wormhole goes to a system of planets that are in orbit around a blackhole, but the wormhole isn't a black hole.

>being retarded
>reddit spacing
why am I not surprised?

Never been to reddit so no idea what reddit spacing is.

However it was plainly shown that the wormhole was not a black hole. The blackhole was what they went to.

KHNO

>it's another we shit on Kino episode
Ugh

>no idea what reddit spacing is
so until now you haven't been on Sup Forums neither? kys, normie faggot.

Yeah, Nolan really took a big dump on kino with his movies, didn't he?

Jesus user, what type of fucktard are you?

They go though the warmhole to a system that has a black hole called Gargantua. The wormhole they go though is a not a black hole. WTF.

the prestige is just MUH TWISTS stacked on top of MUH TWISTS

the nolans cannot write anything without shoving in twists or time line fuckery

Is this the episode where he clones himself hundreds of times? I laughed out loud at the theater when that was revealed

I love magic, and adding the stupid fantasy shit just ruined it for me

Not just clones himself. That fucker is able to create matter. This kind of shit would be far fetched even for MCU. And somehow brainlets think this is a fucking masterpiece nevertheless.

The cloning machine being real ruined the film for me. Should've turned out the letters about meeting Tesla were all false.

yea, underageb& in this thread. the movie was laughable. I literally laughed at the ending, as did the people I went to see it with

I don't hate Nolan. I thought Momento was fantastic and I'd put it somewhere in my top 100. Haven't seen Inception, Intersteller, or Dunkirk

Insomnia is invalidated by being objectively worse than the original film in every metric, aside from maybe casting Robin Williams.

Nolan was the wrong director to remake Insomnia. Nolan films don't have any sexual tension.

The machine actually works is also a twist

And a pretty well foreshadowed one at that. I love the twists that make me instantly anoyed that I didn't see them coming.
This would actually be a solid 7-8/10 movie if it weren't for the cloning machine.

>The film tells you the three parts of a magic trick and then doesn't make a magic trick, it's science lel
fixd

*nods respectfully towards you*
aye, such a thing would never happen in real life

Or in any work of fiction if only the author wants to keep any shred of credibility.

how can you like dunkirk, the pacing was afwul

and yet it's still Nolan'd best flick. go figure.
