Why is he so perfect?
Trevor Belmont
Because he's a dark, twisted antihero who resents and rebels against his accursed destiny. For like 20 minutes, then he suddenly becomes heroic.
I don't think he resented his destiny, I think he more pissed about helping these fucking peasants that got his house killed.
He has a nice furcoat.
Why is this listed as an anime on netflix?
He's generic, boring, and painfully overwritten to appear "cool" to teenage boys. Also, episode one was the only actually good episode.
Wow, I didn't know you could have this much of a shit taste user
nah, it is that bitching coat.
>not loving the fight with Alucard
> Alucard from SotN in Castlevania III era.
C'mon bitch, we all know...
This shit was so painfully written I have to wonder how much Warren Ellis actually got to write.
There are definite moments that are pure raw Ellis, lines that you can recognize instantly. But then there's just no subtleness, the characters are bland and completely predictable. There's a shit 'church is evil' sub-plot and the main motif of the season, that for evil to win good men must do nothing, is said three different times in three different ways BY THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE.
Can I ask what the hell happened?
...
You pretty much proved his point. They turned Trevor into an edgy fag to appeal to the neckbeards. The game Trevor was nothing like this
Nice to remember me that
>Can I ask what the hell happened?
Good men did nothing?
Netflix is dumb they think Samurai Jack is an anime too.
>Spends the entire first episode getting kicked in the balls repeatedly.
>second episode
ftfy
Literally Geralt
Ok, this is extra weird cause it's genre isn't "Anime", but the description itself says Anime
on Castlevania the genre is anime.
He seemed pretty into his family's whole monster hunting thing. He was just really pissed they were excommunicated and hated for it.
The game Trevor never was anything at all user
He's justifiably pissed at everyone
I thought it was...
It's pretty bitchin
I'd have to check, but doesn't proper lip syncing mean it's a cartoon?
I wish I had better reasons for thinking why it's not an anime, but that's all
Fine then. The canonical Trevor that they could have learned about from the Japanese manual, official guidebooks, and other promotional materials, or even a few minutes of research done online. Cliffs notes version: he's not an edgy snarkfest with ambivalent feelings towards the Church, he's actually HIRED by the Church to take down Dracula in Castlevania 3.
anime is literally cartoon in japanese. the only thing that makes something anime is if it's created in japan. This was worldwide
anime should be allowed on occasion. if every other country is.
It was RELEASED worldwide, but that doesnt stop something from being anime. Dragon Ball is still an anime despite being released everywhere
Not saying Castlevania is anime, just saying release location determines what it is.
Anime is made by japanese people in japan.
Hired by the church that excommunicated his family. And it's clear that he's doing it out of responsibility, not because the church wants him to.
Because "cartoons" are kids shows like TTG and comedy shows like The Simpsons.
If a show is adult but not a comedy, or if it attempts to tell an overarching story rather than just being random silly nonesense, then it is an anime. See: Castlevania, the new Voltron, Avatar.
what if a show is co-directed and co-created by a half Japanese half American or one Japanese and an American and is animated half by a Japanese studio in America and an American studio in japan?
I said nothing about where it was released, read again. I said created. This was funded by Netflix (American) written by a Brit, produced by an american studio and partly animated in korea
same with being labelled "graphic novel" as opposed to comic.
The church is evil stuff is straight up Ellis, he's even more blatant in Supergod.
They basically copied Dante to make Trevor in this series.
you sure you don't mean the other dante?
>partly animated in korea
Correct me if im wrong as fuck, but aren't most cartoons and animes animated there now?
honestly don't know. I still say the lip syncing makes it a cartoon
>They turned Trevor into an edgy fag to appeal to the neckbeards.
They also spent two episodes having people tell him he's being a worthless shit having a pity party.
nice bait m8t
And as a CV fan, neither take on Trevor appeals to me. There's nothing likable about this guy--he's not the righteous Belmont we always thought he was, and doesn't even approach something close to heroic until the last episode.
yes. the boondocks is "anime" despite being Korean.
>church is evil
it wasn't entirely. they did what they thought was right, by killing dracula's wife. Then they covered up their mistake, basically like the real world catholic church does all the time.
It's not Trevor tho, it's mostly the shit taste of liking the first episode and not the others. I mean, the first episode, the one with the most gore and you're calling me edgy
>first episode has best atmosphere, most tension, better pacing, and better written character motivations
>HE ONLY LIKED IT BECAUSE OF GORE
None of the episodes were bad, but it's clear more effort was put into the first.
>Average PC in Sword Coast
Srly, why every NPC is a fucking smug asshole towards adventurers? specially LG adventurers? goddamnit, we're here to save you, stop being fucking smug assholes!
I mean, I feel that Drac is the most fleshed out of all the characters. He's seen a lot more development than anyone else and primarily because of the first episode.
Sipha is cute.
>The church is evil
There was literally a priest who sanctified water and helped people
Church wasn't evil, it was that fucking cardinal and his cult
Also pope was pretty cunty
>Then they covered up their mistake
No, they just didn't see it as a mistake. In fact I'm fairly certain it's all that bishops fault to be exact seeing as how he acted independently.
But the anit-church stuff is a bit of a turn off for me, but so far it's only been the bishop's circle that are antagonistic, which is not the totality of the issue as there was a priest who was not affiliated with him, it's fair to assume the rest of the church was pretty all right if not good, it is implied God exists too.
>Also pope was pretty cunty
Was he though? All he did was say give a speech to the people which was "see the devil lied" before the demons happened. And he probably knew as much about Drac's wife as the bishop told him.
>No, they just didn't see it as a mistake
they completely doused any rumors that Dracula would come to kill everyone in 2 years. They covered it up
>Fatass with long nails
I bet he was a cunt
Is this a good show worth watching?
Yes. Though it is essentially a pilot movie.
it was ment to be a movie origionally, so they converted it and extended it a lot. It's worth a watch and it's only 2 hours long
Ok, thanks.
>Not One instance of Floor Chicken.
They also didn't prepare, I don't think they believed it, and I bet that Bishop is to blame.
He could have just been old.
>game Trevor was nothing like this
All we know about from the manuals is that he was excommunicated then requested to help. Trevor has no defnied personality in the games.
And if you've actually played multiple, you'd know it's universal law that the only Belmonts that are by canon not assholes or edgy are Simon, Richter, and Julius.
He loves his destiny. He resents the people he's saving because they fear and hate what they don't understand, and they don't understand his family.
Oh man, an adaptation reinterpreted and expanded on the character's motivations and made alterations to the source material, what an unthinkable crime
The whole thing was great.
I agree but Shut up Boco
Yes sir...
Because he didn't wait until night.
>I liked Trevor because he's just an avarege guy getting kicked in the balls(bound to happen in a bar fight) and not a unconditional messiah
>YOU ONLY LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE'S EDGY
See? making "I'm silly" strawman on caps isn't a good rebuttal
>Best atmosphere
The other ones are better on this
>Most tension
True
>Better pacing
Felt rushed imo
>Better motivation
I mean, having your family thrashed by everyone when they were actually responsible for fighting the occult since always is a pretty good reason to just not care anymore and leave them to deal with the consequences
