Movies that are actually really shit but no one wants to admit because they are considered classics
ITT
I preferred Road Warrior
If you know the ending, the movie is really boring.
2001 a meme odyssey
Budget may be low, and every time there's a chase scene the movie goes into overdrive and quality goes through the roof. They're so well shot, edited and performed.
...
...
It's a good movie, but compared to Road Warrior and Fury Road, it's nothing.
>OP has shit taste
all this and more on the afternoon news
I like Road Warrior but the first one was crap
Yeah the first one isn't that great.
The second one is really good though. I like the third one as well even though it's a bit silly.
literally a 4 hour soap opera
great movie
>If you know the ending, the movie is really boring.
I'd argue that even if you know going in what "Rosebud" refers to, there's still an interesting narrative about a wide-eyed child growing up into a joyless, piece of shit old man.
Now PIC RELATED is boring as fuck once you know what it's all leading up to. The entire film is built around tension and mystery leading into the big reveal. But once you already know the reveal, there's no tension or mystery and the entire film is just a dull slog.
Everyone does. The first movie has half an hour of filler.
This movie made me tense as fuck when I watched it for the first time. I acctually felt scared for Maxs wife and kid.
the "THIS ISN'T A DREAM, THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING" scene is so cheesy
Thank God. That movie is overrated.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Everybody knows the ending already so the rest of the movie is just a slog
You forgot the first movie, "mad max"
The 2001 Planet of the Apes remake is better than this crap.
A DC area radio show called Elliot in the Morning (a lame Howard Stern wannabe type show) decided to spoil the ending to the Sixth Sense on opening day as a prank and then make fun of anyone who called in to complain.
So I never got to see the movie without having the twist spoiled for me. When I saw it, I couldn't tell why everyone loved the film so much. It was really average. I think once you remove the "OMG DA TWEEST!" element, there just isn't any actual substance to The Sixth Sense.
I said it was a good movie.
so this is just a: Im a giant pleb thread. Fuck all of you and your shit contrarianism
>once you remove the twist from the movie built around the twist it's not that good anymore
Go slit your wrist, grandpa.
only one I agree with in the thread. This movie does nothing for me, and pulp fiction shits on it in every way
>anyone who disagrees with my subjective preferences is a contrarian
The sad thing is that people with Asperger's genuinely believe this.
>contrarianism
Jesus christ. Sup Forums is dead
oy vey
It wasnt that good, could be better
Literally half of production was paid for with cases of beer.
That blue van that gets crashed into and nearly cut in half in the chase scene was miller's car.
For a self-financed movie by an amature first time director it's a legitimate 11/10. If you have any actual interest in film making I don't know how anyone can not love the movie.
All classic films made before 1980 besides 2001
the plebiest
I have two more exceptions: Godzilla (1954) and the first two OT Star Wars movies.
It's not badly made but it's boring as shit
you deserved to be spoiled
I have a soft spot for movie's shot (mostly) at one location.
Also Roth rehearsing his joke is an absolutely phenomenal and very meta sequence.
>1 hour of movie is supposed to be set up but all we get is "blonde girl is a spoiled brat and the man is a man"
>hardly any build up before the birds just start taking people out
>birds let main characters live because plot armor
>"oh the birds are only crazy exactly where we are. How lucky. Let's just leave."
>THE END
This. It's so fucking boring it puts me to sleep.
Boring oscarbait.
this is what millenials actually think. Every movie before 1980 is "boring" or "racist"
Star Wars
DUDE HAMBURGERS LMAO
in what way is reservoir dogs better?
it will be a shit classic in 20 years
As does everyone else.
>DUDE I TOOK THE B8 LMAO
Stop.
in 10-20 years probably most of Zack Snyder's films
this movie is trash
struggled to stay awake while watching this
I mean, its not THAT great. Heath ledger is the best Joker but the rest of the movie is average
same for me
lel
I cannot begin to describe how dissappointed I was when I finally got around to seeing this on DVD. Nothing happens and theirs hardly any action let alone dialog for 3/4 of the movie. 2nd was defintely better
It's slow and low budget but by 70s standards this is a Michael Bay movie.
Anyone thinking the hype about Mad Max came from the original picture and not Road Warrior is retarded anyway.
nah you're wrong, that's tarantelas most sincere fillm
Not racist, just boring with wooden acting, terrible sound mixing, and awful picture quality. If you unironically enjoy “””””classic”””””” films you are a pseud
Fell for the hype and went because I regretted not seeing Interstellar in the theater. So basically, I got fucked twice.
>sweeping generalizations
>you are a pseud
The first blade runner. The movie was absolute horse shit especially compared to its source material
Fuck off, dogfucker.
You probably think Marlon Brando or Clint Eastwood minus Gran Torino were good actors.
People used to have to pick oats out horse shit for food, that doesn’t mean that it’s good to eat now.
underrated
fuck off, it's one of the only good movies in this years oscars
It's loosely based on the source material you ignorant nigger, movie relies in his own merit
>Dirty dozen
>Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia
>Where eagles dare
>Kelly's heroes
>Guns of Navarone
Pleb?
Pleb.
Its a good shitty movie
>his idea of "films before 80s" is Brando and Eastwood
Damn, I though we'd have a decent namedropping baitfest with Flaherty, Rohmer and Schlöndorff, but you seem to be too retarded to even pretend to have an opinion on classic cinema. Time to go back to capeshit/"goosekino" thread.
OT Star Wars. Jesus the camerawork there is fucking nonexistent.
Objectively untrue. Like a good Star Trek episode, it's about the morals and politics of the characters. I watched the movie for the first time knowing the ending from all the parodies and AMC lists and still loved it.
>Anyone thinking the hype about Mad Max came from the original picture and not Road Warrior is retarded anyway.
So you think a major studio and distributors gave this literal fucking who straya cunt a budget and the job because no one watched the first one?
It was a huge breakout international hit from a country that had until then had absolutely no film industry. It put that shitrock of an island on the map cinematically.
jesus, that poster makes Mel look like a paki
Watch more films, you obnoxious faggot.
Loosely as in they left out most of the interesting parts and ideas. There was basically no original material besides fucking puppets.
...
Read the book then mothefucker
>Movies that are actually really shit but no one wants to admit because they are considered classics
The Shining
Dr. Strangelove
It has an actual plot, Pulp Fiction is a string of unconnected mediocre segments, none of them good
>The entire film is built around tension and mystery leading into the big reveal. But once you already know the reveal, there's no tension or mystery and the entire film is just a dull slog.
normally I would disagree because this can be incorrectly said for many movies, but in this case it's true
Polanski's worst
I unironically love both those, so you're wrong and a shit eating pleb.
true. Road Warrior = Fury Road > first half of Thunderdome > MM > rest of Thunderdome
only imdb redditors pretend to like the first one
>your opinion is wrong because I say so
This really was a bit of a disappointment for me. I had seen Road Warrior several times before it, so I had certain level of expectations, as it was one of those movies that wasn't easy to get hold to back in the 1990's.
When I finally managed to stumble upon it I couldn't help but to feel a bit disappointed by it. I expected Road Warrior and got, well, something else. A cheap and a bit clunky feeling little action movie laced with some bad drama.
It had its moments, but at the same time it is a movie I should have seen before Road Warrior. That one did spoil me.
This, besides the good bad and ugly
how can one be so wrong
scary to think at least one of you is not joking
