I just rewatched the scene. The tongue-in-cheek dialogue could be misconstrued as the prostitute joking about how she's not a replicant (which is how I took it). I figured the other prostitutes were just disgusted he was a replicant, not afraid because he was a blade runner. They don't seem afraid, at least.

Anyway it's hard to evaluate whether this kind of thing is clearly shown or not. It doesn't really matter a whole lot either way, it has no effect on how you take the scene where he fucks the prostitute with Joi.

The prostitutes are rogue Nexus 9's. I know this because they still look young, and replicants definitely do age. Almost all the replicants you see in the movie are Nexus 9's, as even the youngest surviving Nexus 8's would look at least as old as Sapper (he was a "tail-end Nexus 8")
