its not, its good?

It's pretty good desu. I wish someone would adapt Valerio Massimo books about Alexander tho.

Oliver Stone.

Colin Ferrel is shit

>an Oliver Stone film

Found your problem.

because Aleksandrovski Makedonski is obviously slavic and this guy doesn't look like one

Agreed, way too white to be a slav.

This. Sashko is white.

It's the whiniest epic of them all, Alexander feels like a bitch with an oedipus complex the whole time

hello my white friends i am the princess now

just like real life

why does tv hate Oliver Stone so much only film of his I've seen is platoon and it was pure kino

>we need an actress for a Persian princess
>I've got just the actress

Rosario Dawson is hot as fuck so I didn't even mind the miscasting that much. It was a terrible movie anyway.

Bactrian, wasn't it? Still, more similar to Persians than what they got.

Only plebs think it's bad.

Casting Hephaestian as a pretty boy twink was worse

gib macedonian mommy

>It was a terrible movie anyway
it was good, actually.

Too long, too boring, even the battles look like crap

It's a great movie but people were expecting a sword-and-sandals epic like Troy and got a character study and an examination of mythology/cult of personality instead

Epirote.

>Too long, too boring, even the battles look like crap
Gaugamela was the only good part of the film.

They got Alexander's character pretty terribly wrong and the acting of Alexander and Olympias were terrible. The pacing was disjointed as fuck and the symbolism was hamhanded and amateur.

It has one of the best translated to film battles

Much like his contemporaries De Palma and Coppola, their good material -great even- is from decades ago. They long became empty husks of their once-lauded greatness.

Out from that generation only Scorsese maintains a good level of quality.

Scorsese is great, Silence was amazing. I'm not too keen on his next movie though.

Alexander Revisited is amazing.

kek

Unfortunately it seems that realistic battles translate badly to film

>Mel Gibson will never direct a movie about Alexander
>Mel Gibson will never direct a movie about Julius Caesar vs. Marc Antony

ITS NOT FAAIIIRR

I love three to four hour long greek epics and Netflix seems happy to oblige

>Julius Caesar vs Mark Antony

u wot

Something failed in post production, because the film feels really cheap despite a lot of scenes boasting great production value. I blame the music and editing, and generally shitty acting in all the important parts.

This scene would have been incredible if they had opted for heightened incidental sound effects like breathing and hoof falls instead of overbearing music. The mishmash of different slow motion speeds also looks shoddy.

Oops I meant Octavian. My bad

They overdid the gay stuff generally but Alexander being in love with Hephaestion is about as certain as anything about his personality could be.

>implying implications

Reminder that Macedonia is not a country. Macedonia was an ancient Greek kingdom and is now a geographic reason in northern Greece. Alexander the Great was northern Greek.

>Hello my Greek friend

Γειά

I watched this movie with my mom a few times, I wonder what she thought of the homo scenes.

watch this actual kino instead

It was made by a Jew, hence their is no art in it.

>Persian
She's ARYAN.

the greeks considered the macedonians to be barbarians and never thought of them as greek. you are just as bad as sashko makedonski larpers

Yes the Bactrians were an Indo-Aryan people.

Opinions among Greeks varied on that topic.

The Macedonians were not Greeks, but the Royals were Hellenes and married into Greeks. There's an interesting anecodote that explains this. While Alexander was interrogating a Greek, who was a friend, Alexander shouted to some of his Greek soldiers to arrest the man. The Greek had no idea what was going on, because Alexander talked in Macedonian to his soldiers, and the Greek could not understand their language.

The Macedonians had a completely different system, it wasn't a primitive version of Greek culture, as this was laughed at by the Greeks in Crete, where the Cretans still used the ancient Greek system of government where the king was called a Wanax, there was no nostalgia toward the Macedonians, only disdain toward Barbarians.

Why was there so much sexual chemistry between her and Colin Ferrel? Was it on purpose?

>friend, Alexander shouted to some of his Greek soldiers to arrest the man.
.....friend, Alexander shouted to some of his Macedonian soldiers to arrest the man.............

It would actually make sense for the character but given the rest of the movie I doubt it was intentional.
