Indeed.

pretty good film, 7/10

Degeneracy must be promoted.

why do you believe this was a good film

it's really bizzare, no one ever argues for it, people just say it's a really good film and that's the end of it.
and 13 fucking nominations, and it will probably win best picture.
this is worse than crash or shakespeare in love

No, It deserves those nominations

I liked it

BR2049 is easily best film of the year tho

No, It deserves those nominations

It was pretty shit. It's a pleb's idea of what a kino film is.

I thought it was alright but a little pandering. Well shot. The pool is just weak

dishonest furry porn

>fishman
>furry

Illuminati love it.

They love satanic agenda pushing films. This is demonic beastialtiy

Idea was Stolen from Alan Moore occult necronomicon

Its was the progressive coalition heroes going up against the evil Trumpian bad guy. Of course it got nominations out the ass.

is it scary?

name a more dishonest film maker than del toro.

People like Edward Scissorhands but with fish person instead. Emulating something that is good, rather than making something that is good seems to be the trend of Hollywood these days.

God you’re a pussy

dishonest scalie porn

I dont fucking understand it.

When I saw it I told myself “I can see its well made even if its not particularly for me”, I barely see that anymore. Sure, its a competent enough film. Good though? Maybe. Award worthy? Fuck no.

Can someone explain to me what this movie is outside of a horny selfish bitch enjoying her sex life charged by a fetish? Because that plot alone won’t sell me. And since both the main characters couldn’t speak, it did a shit job as a character film.

Fucking stupid movie and i’m mad half my friends got tricked into saying they like it. Bitch fucks fishes and doesn’t care about damages to her neighbors.

Holy fuck this video is embarrassing

>implying you had a problem with Kirk's interspecies romances in star trek

how so?

It's him sperging out over the same shit that happens in sci fi all the time

than why should the film be so highly lauded

No idea haven't seen it, but MUH DEGENAWACY is a stupid arguement.

Shape of Water might as well have been about a pedophile. I don’t see a difference.

pointing out the films trendy and shallow politics and the correlation to academy awards isn't MUH anything
but you are obviously biased and choose to see this matter without the necessary context and nuance

Humanoid monster fucking (not furries) is a pretty big if mostly hidden demographic of all-ages women. Hell even for men. Del Taco is just ahead of his time and cashed in right where he should have.

The crux of the video is that the politics are shallow because of it's mistaking of tolerance with "societal degeneration".

>humanoid monsters
>not furry
t. furry

Did you really expect The Academy to choose better films? Just look at the Animation category.

I guess technically they're scalies or something. Is finding aliens attractive furry? I mean, they don't have fur. I guess it's just called being a degenerate.

depends on how humanoid the alien's face is.

How humanoid is this?

that's def furry
and cute

I loved the movie, but I agree it doesn't deserve most of those nominations. It's a nice romantic movie for women with pretty visuals, good performances, and good music. That's it. The writing really isn't anything great and is hilariously unsubtle in places. It's on par with Beauty and the Beast 2017, just with some better acting, in my opinion.

great taste user

It's an ultimate cuck film they just disguised nigger as a fish monster

he's amphibian you retards

> tfw loving vincent will 100% lose
fuck oscars

Monster porn existed before furry stuff.

Why does good movies trigger Sup Forums?

from this year, what should have been nominated?

Because the villain has a perfect 1950s household but is an abusive asshole, the American general is a fat dummy, and every normie white guy is either a bigoted jerk or totally incompetent. (“Hofstaedtler” doesn’t count cause he’s a Russkie.)
In short, Drumpf BTFO! Gib awards!

Del Toro deserves it simply because he follows his fucking visions.
Universal said no thanks breh and then he said fuck you and made this. When Universal makes a new Black Lagoon everyone is going to prefer this.

You know, in most cases I would call this specific theory a 'crackpot' theory and that you're being ridiculous, but in some cases, like for this movie, I think that you're actually completely correct. I 100% agree with you; though I wouldn't say it about most movies, this movie is definitely a case where your theory is probably correct.

Sexual self-centeredness to the point of destroying property, compromising national security, and putting neighbors at risk of being eaten by a flesh-eating fish thing just to get laid is fairly degenerate.

Can it really be called cuckolding if she’s not dating someone?

It's modern day Oscars, shit which don't deserve anything will win anyway so nothing for Del Taco fish romance

Phantom Thread (and only Phantom Thread)

>Animation category
My blood boiled when Kaguya lost to some CGI piece of shit

>expecting anons to use their brains rather than spouting memes

Yeah the audience is getting cucked

But I'm more attracted to the fishman than the old hag woman.

>As one who knew back in 1977 that Close Encounters of the Third Kind was cinematically superior to Star Wars, I remain unmoved by new iterations of George Lucas’s blockbuster. But the generations whose attention spans have been altered by this most vaunted of all film series should still appreciate how Rian Johnson’s geek loyalty surpasses that of Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi political fantasy The Shape of Water.

>This time, del Toro moves the idiotic political allegory of his 2006 Pan’s Labyrinth (a 1930s-set Spanish Civil War fantasy) to America during the Civil Rights era. Uninterested in social realities, del Toro aims for seriousness through dark whimsy (“dark” being the preferred perspective of fanboys and critics). But what, exactly, does a mute Mexican immigrant janitoress, Elisa Esposito (Sally Hawkins, wasting the genius she displayed in Maudie), have to do with the black struggle against Jim Crow? How does her romance with an amphibious monster, captured for government experimentation during the Cold War, express the thwarted desires of U.S. citizens whose ancestors were oppressed? Why is her protective co-worker a sassy and stoic black woman (Octavia Spencer) with a Stepin Fetchit husband? Why is her best friend a gay artist (Richard Jenkins) who is scared of expressing his own sexuality? Why does her nemesis, a security official at the science lab (Michael Shannon), stand in for white supremacist bigotry?

>Del Toro exploits these questions and the social and historical ignorance of Hollywood’s politically correct brigade. (His title suggests a misinterpretation of the proto-Obama metaphor in James McBride’s celebrated race memoir The Color of Water.) This mash-up of alien and immigrant hardship, in which lonely Elisa finds sexual release with a sea creature, is pervy, ridiculous, and humorless. The more maudlin this story gets, the harder del Toro presses PC buttons.

The audience is married to Sally Hawkins?

>The film’s freakish sentimentality derives from Lenin’s maxim “No profit in last week’s fish.” As spoken by one character, that line sounds like del Toro’s credited allies the Coen Brothers, which exposes the snark at the base of del Toro’s left-wing sappiness.

>Mexican del Toro ignores the politics of his own nation. It’s the same career strategy as that followed by Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu (they brand themselves “The Three Amigos”), seeking the easy approval and esteem of those who enjoy seeing American political problems trivialized as escapist fantasy — as also done in Gravity and The Revenant. Del Toro fails to give his Creature from the Black Lagoon/Swamp Thing thing any characterization. It’s just a repugnantly eroticized figure of chain immigration.

>The Shape of Water hasn’t yet inspired opportunistic political interpretations like the 2005 Star Wars: Revenge of the Siths. (“So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause” a silly aphorism that actually presaged the Obama era.) This film’s fish-and-female premise merely combines sexual masochism with political self-righteousness and cinematic cluelessness (Del Toro’s movie references include a dismal Astaire and Rogers musical homage). To think this movie is just fantasy is to drown in stupidity.

phantom thread was post-post-post oscarbait, and the result was an intensely bland movie

i love his common sense write ups like this
we don't deserve him

Anything that hates on white men and families is a good thing.

Teratophilia is pretty huge among women, yea. It's the reason fat ugly men get laid at all. I remember when The Hobbit movies were released and women came out in droves talking about how soaked they were getting over Azog.

Why do Sup Forumsdditors always have that annoying nasal voice?

...

Why do Americans always have that annoying nasally voice?

And he's a 'libertarian'.

...

Girls fuck their dogs.

anyways i want to have consensual sex with the fishman

some torture of our beloved fishman, and a guy gets his fingers bit off off-screen, he then rips them off for the dramatics later.
and if you're a woman then the sexual harassment part is also scary
