Voltron

So I just finished S3 today. I think it's a small step above the past seasons. Hunks still useless and a waste of space but at least he's not making stupid food and fat jokes still. Pidge was useful but she didn't get development. Lance stopped being a shitter. I know that Keith had to develop as a leader but that 2nd/3rd episode where he's chasing Lotor was cringey and tilting. He was not making errors he was just being retarded. Shiro got very little about him and it was nice to see some background for Zarkon and his wife.

The female officers were hot. The fights also felt cooler when it involved melee but the space fight still feel lacking.

>Shiro got very little about him
>implying

Something flew over your head there, OP.

>implying Shiro is anywhere in that webm

that's still very little. It's 1 episode showing us that something happened to him but we and he do not know what it was. He only shows the rest of the season to back up Keith.

her knee caps must feel weak

>but we and he do not know what it was

He's a clone now, nigga.

gotta love the mice

>there are people who still don't think the lion-switch is permanent
How mad will they be?

...

>tfw ive been waiting for a voltron thread all day
niceu niceu

I'm on board with you on just about all counts, and I think by and large /vld/ is too. We're guaranteed to get a lot more Pidge in season 4, and while I agree Hunk did basically nothing for this whole season, I felt like the scenes we got with him were more enjoyable than usual. He's a likable character when they're not constantly making food and vomit jokes.

The going theory with Shiro is that the one that broke out of the galra ship this season is a clone. He's referred to as "specimen number[something]", sees that other, dead-eyed Shiro on an operating table, and something called "project kuron" is mentioned. "Kuron" is literally "clone" in Japanese. We suspect his memories are being stored in his arm, which might also be a monitoring device of some sort.

There's some debate as to who is responsible for this. Lotor makes the most sense, as I imagine things in seasons 1 and 2 would have gone pretty differently if Zarkon had had a spying device (other than the black lion) in the midst of the paladins. It would also explain why, in the scene where Keith was trying to decide whether to fight Lotor's comet ship or destroy the cargo ship carrying his teludav, as soon as Keith mentioned the plan to shoot the cargo ship, Lotor decided that was what he was going to do, and was BTFO when Keith did something else.

That's the main thread of speculation we been doing on here, though I'm sure I missed plenty of stuff. Got any thoughts?

same buddy. I understand that we don't wanna make them constantly so I only very rarely make them myself, but I'm always on the prowl

Oh yeah, and also Allurance is a thing now that Lance isn't such a shit and they shared some real good moments.

>Not just making one when you feel like it.

I saw (mainly the Shiro landwhales on tumblr) I smacked my face so hard that I still feel it and it's been hours.
We're both thirsty for Voltron, I was thinking of making a thread but then considered how we're trying to go back to weekend only threads.

is that the sess?

>Oh yeah, and also Allurance is a thing now that Lance isn't such a shit and they shared some real good moments

>tfw tumblr is about to go to war over whether Lance and Allura make a good couple or if Allura is a lesbian.

>watch this show for robots
>come to thread to discuss
>it's nothing but gays everywhere

/m/ is less gay than this

So much time passes irl between major scenes that focus on Shiro's plot arc that I have completely forgotten almost everything about him, and his current arc is hopelessly confusing to me. I thought he was captured prior to Season 1 and escaped. Why is he captured and escaping yet again? Why are we retreading this ground over and over again and what the fuck does it have to do with the clone subplot that this place keeps talking about?

don't forget /vld/'s recent epiphany about Lance's womanly body

Shame that they won't swap outfits it they look good in each others outfits.

>though I'm sure I missed plenty of stuff. Got any thoughts?
I watched the Afterbuzz interview featuring Lauren and Joaquim.
>youtube.com/watch?v=q5HudBsIkNo
>Interesting talk begins at 48:42
>Lauren and Dos Santos had absolutely no input nor knew of the contents of the Paladin handbook and consider it The Unofficial Handbook
>Alternate realities are definitely coming back
>Joaquim calls Slav a badass
>Lotor's generals originally had The Golden Girls names as their original names spelled backwards until they changed it because the StudiMir workers pointed it out to them
>Joaquim's favorite part of the fandom is when the parents of the original Voltron watches VLD with their children

I'm ashamed to admit that I did forget. Thank you for reminding me, this is important.

The current Shiro is a fucking clone and the real Shiro's whereabouts are unknown. We don't know where the black lion sent him at the end of season 2.

I got the feeling that this season didn't really ad anything to the story (at all) except for the origin story (which we could have gotten for episode 1 instead of the last episode.

It's still really ambiguous, but the theory goes that the Shiro who disappeared at the end of season 2 was teleported somewhere safe by the black lion (possibly to wherever Matt Holt is), and that the Shiro with the long hair we saw wake up on a galra ship is a clone.

I have always been aware of this but every time I bring it up people just say "he's a dandy" or "he's just metrosexual".

>I got the feeling that this season didn't really ad anything to the story (at all)
It added lotor who's the most interesting character so far

>Joaquim calls Slav a badass
Joaquim confirmed for Slavfag.

>Lauren and Dos Santos had absolutely no input nor knew of the contents of the Paladin handbook and consider it The Unofficial Handbook

Kek, that means everything worked out just fine basically by accident.

Which one will defect?
which one will die?
which one will fall for Lance?

Exposition dumping for episode 1 is just bad writing, no matter how much anime does it. Which isn't to say that vld's episode 1 was an example of masterful plotting and pacing, just that throwing a 10,000 year old backstory at us full of characters we'd never met before and who were not the main characters would have been far worse. Episode 7 was more enjoyable for a lot of people because we'd already met Zarkon and Haggar in the present day, as antagonists.

>Lotor gathering power to usurp his father before he wakes up
>background on Voltron's nature and clues about the lions' sentience
>alternate fucking realities and multiple factions having the means to travel between them
>reveal that Zarkon and Haggar are zombies possessed by rift demons
>clone sub-plot potentially stretching all the way back to S1
>Cova literally behind everything
>nothing

>It added lotor who's the most interesting character so far

The single episode explaining Zarkon and Haggar's backstory made them both more interesting in one episode than Lotor's been thus far. He' s a generic "all according to keikaku" type.

>Joaquim's favorite part of the fandom is when the parents of the original Voltron watches VLD with their children

>Joaquim calls Slav a badass
>Alternate realities are definitely coming back
I can't believe all that memeing about Slav becoming a badass action hero in S3 and playing a huge role in the plot with his alternate reality powers is actually happening.

You were ahead of your time. What other secrets do you hold that we are yet incapable of accepting into our hearts?

>Hunks Favorite type of food is Italian
>Pidge is Italian.

i'm with you user, other people only really started embracing it as a parallel to pidge's tomboyishness, go figure

>Lotor
>interesting

top lul

Lotor is like Thrawn without the nuance.

i hope they actually do that at some point. the mismatching colors bother me more then i thought they would

>Joaquim calls Slav a badass
Even the showrunners acknowledge this meme magic now.

>Acza dies protecting Lotor instead of face-turning like everyone expects
>Narti defects after Cova's mind control is broken
>Zethrid gets up in Lance in a very special episode about how men can be raped too

What a bimbo.

>Keith will never be your boyfriend who'll cook you hearty meals
What's the point of this existence?

>One of Lotor's harem turns out to be Keith's mom.

>Pidge will never peg you

His story isn't that confusing, either he's going the Winter Soldier route, a Manchurian candidate route, a robot route, or he's Teh Rei.

This is why you should actually browse these threads right after a season drops because this topic has been thoroughly discussed that I can't be fucked to explain it all again.

>apples on a sandwich
>blue condiment
What the fuck did he mean by this???

I'm mixed on Acza, part of me thinks she'll never leave Lotor's side, the other part sees her getting jealous because of Lotor's interest on Allura.

oh yeah the people who get influenced by some evil alien so interesting. Not the guy that's playing both sides like a fiddle.

Hope they adopt the part about Keith liking hippos for the show.

>Purple condiment bottle

What the fuck is in there?

Acxa/Lotor/Allura love triangle?

I, too, love bland Mary Sue villains who are inexplicably omnicient.

That purple ketchup that was available in the early 2000s.

>yfw Allura and Lance become total bros

Reminder that Lance was RIGHT

...

Nah, she's going to get upset that her telling Lotor about Keith's herritage resulted in Lotor attempting to coerce Keith into defecting.

/m/ is too busy having perverse sexual lust for robots and machinery to be gay.

Added a new villain, threw in the whole Shiro is a clone/compromised which means even if he can't pilot anymore his story is far from over, and gave a little more headway into rescuing Matt as well as indicating the general hostility towards Galra by other races.

>27:28
Probably not going to happen, probably.

OUR GUY

>Lotor's generals originally had The Golden Girls names as their original names spelled backwards until they changed it because the StudiMir workers pointed it out to them

Why do they care what these gooks say?

Ehcnalb
Yhtorod
Aihpos
Esor

I guess Ezor kept her name.

Trips confirm

he lost against keith and he got caught out by allura. He's not invincible, he's skilled and strong.

Hell, even Keith agreed with him in that scene

I want pic related to become canon

...

the 90s fucking sucked

BROTHER!

I also want Lotor to have such beautiful chin in canon, but I doubt they'll change his design now

I want pic related to become canon

Yikes that looks disgusting

Predictions for next season?
>Matt knows Kuron isn't Shiro
>Long lost Alteans appear

Those were the 00s, friend. An even worse decade.

you can only bully kuron on Thursdays and Fridays

Realistically, what the fuck are they gonna do with Kuron? Since this is an average kid's show, I bet they'll make him a robot so that they can avoid deep existential horror and just kill him off.

So Haggar's face tattoos seem to change as she gets farther and farther into the Space Krokodil. Altean thing or Quintessence thing?

To this

it's just a sign of her furthering corruption, like the advanced aging and hag hair

Why did all the heterosexual Lance pairings see an explosion in popularity after season 3?

He'll die protecting Lance from Cova.

*also it makes her appearance more ambiguous in the first two seasons before the Altean reveal

Quintessence thing. Allura couldn't change her cheek marks when she shapeshifted and the Altean rebels we see couldn't change their cheek marks either. Allura was also able to tell Haggar was Altean because of the cheek marks.

>Matt knows Kuron isn't Shiro

They're side by side in that leak though, aren't they? Kind of implies Matt is fine with him. I'd wager they're not really going to hint at whatever the hell is going on with Shiro until season 5.

At least they got the the Keith-Lotor-Allura dynamics rolling in one episode without having Lotor seeing the two face to face yet

Finally to this, all the way down her face.
I don't think it's an age thing because I think Alfor's remain the same the whole time, and we see other young-looking Alteans in one shot who have larger markings on their face.

They did?

Acza, doesn't defect but is captured after Lotor dies and that failure just breaks her completely.

They did on tumblr.

Because Lance actually got development and fans saw him as a guy that even girls would like to date

Jfc America

The fujos powers are weakening.

Well, Klance will always be there, but his heterosexual pairings still shot up in number

Allura and Lance had a cute and sincere moment together, and Bex went on a madwoman spree reblogging Pance art and giving those shippers a boost of confidence

>There's a high possibility that we'll see Empress Allura
youtube.com/watch?v=3xLuN0beLp0

I think Romelle will be mentioned but she won't appear. Or maybe she will appear or be mentioned in the last ep as the cliffhanger.

This is a no bully Kuron zone, please vacate the premises.
