Pretty please.
I need some Lovecraftian horror movie recommendations Sup Forums.
Pretty please.
Actually it doesn't even need to be a proper horror movie. I'm just looking for some Lovecraftian themes.
>Sup Forums
Also, bump.
bloodborne
Yea, just noticed.
In my defense, they're slowly becoming the same board.
Call of Cthulhu and The Whisperer in Darkness, both by the H.P. Lovecraft Society are great.
The Borderlands is good. Banshee Chapter is great as well. Spring is a nice love story. AM1200 is a short film that's phenomenal. And, of course, In The Mouth of Madness.
The mist
Banshee Chapter
Absentia
Europa Report
True Detective, season one.
The Ritual has some Lovecraftian elements. It hits two themes in particular pretty hard. Immortality and corruption.
The Void
Lovecrafrian monsters:
Mist, The Void, The Thing, Event Horizon
Lovecraftian atmosphere:
Anything where the protag slowly loses his mind and has to face unexplained supernatural fenomena. For more specific fuck if I know. Someone better give some better recs
>*ear shattering fucking fart noise*
Lovecrap is for edgy teen faggots. Read some Poe nigga.
Alien
You do realise that Poe is the edgiest edgelord that ever edged right?
Hellboy
Ngger Valley: Cucked Again (2011, dir. R. Gosling)
Poe sucks eggs
Nah, gimme that cosmic feeling of dread. I read At the Mountains of Madness earlier this year and I want something that will make me feel that mood again.
I read some Poe a few years back, I'm probably gonna give him another go at some point.
poe? more like NO!
youtube.com
How has everyone missed this?
at least you Sup Forumseddit faggots didnt try to hide it this time. you memeing cunt faggots are the ones that love this garbage
Does "Lovecraftian" basically means tentacles and fog or i'm i missing something?
that game is more Kafkaesque
Trailer looks interesting, will check it out. Thanks obscure movie poster.
I saw it and it was not enjoyable, it was also incredibly French.
You could read Lovecraft for a better idea.
>Lovecraftian
"Said of a creature, it means something that merely knowing it exists can wear away at ones sanity, and seeing it can be even worse. Such creatures are usually older than humanity, from another planet or dimension, or both. They are not, in the classical sense, evil, but view humans as humans view ants. Stereotypical Lovecraftian creatues are slimey with lots of tentacles." -from Urban Dict. but I feel it describes it pretty accurately.
Event horizon
Cloverfield (any of them but the new one sucks)
That’s all I got, anything set in warhammer
Dagon, Prince of Darkness
Lovecraftian means fear of the unknown which better stay unknown because it will drive you insane. It's about how small humanity is compared to the cosmos and how unable we are to understand it. The monsters are a nice touch and the best thing is they usually don't give a fuck about humanity because they are on a whole other level.
fish dudes
>Event horizon
Warhammer or Warhammer 20K?
Sorry, I had to
It took suck
Now it needs to fuck
It's more psychological, but I definitely got some Lovecraft vibes from this. Also includes some shots of the sea that are just dripping with dread.
It's pretty low budget though.
Why are there no Lovecraftian porn films?
What is hentai?
Almost exclusively screeching and pantsu.
for redditors? yes
they don't understand that there can be a lovecraftian movie without monsters
From Beyond
...
>tentacles
>helplesness as characters get mercilessly raped without hope
>usually by unknown entities from other planets and/or dimensions
>characters lose their mind in the process
It's actually more lovecraftian than one would think.
>tentacles
>Lovecraftian
You essentially just summed up everything wrong with these threads in one post.
You should watch Urotsukidoji.
I never thought I'd say this, but you actually don't know anything about hentai. These are extremely rare occurrences, in spite of what the stereotypes tell you. You don't have any business discussing topics you know nothing about.
t. C. Baudelaire
...
Pic related best cosmic horror movie. it made me have the best nightmare ive ever had. it was so lovecraftian and madening it was amazing
Cold Skin
Calm your tits it was just a shitpost. It's true that I don't have thorough knowledge of the subject, I just went through a hentai phase when I was a teenager. Sorry to offend your art.
>bawwww
Lurk moar.
Tedious and not sexy (for me), something with actual people in.
I mean something along the lines of Fashionistas, but with a Lovecraftian aesthetic. Kink.com could probably rise to the challenge.
>bawww
From the guy who got riled up over someone on the internet not understanding the intricacies of hentai of all things. Seriously dude, find something else to obsess over.
>From the guy who got riled
That would be you. Stop projecting you stupid faggot. Reread your posts and see how defensive you are LMAO
Dunno man.. wish I could help you.
I can't believe you're getting mad that someone didn't love your shitpost, man.
It's not that. I'm actually surprised that he felt the need to defend hentai.
Sometimes people like to defend the way things actually are(facts) instead of making butthurt newfags happy about their posts.
Nah it just comes off as "Cronenberg meets Goosebumps" and not in a good way
More like warhammer 3k
tentacle hentai is the pinnacle of hentai. U are the retard here.
It's a stupid meme term. Like "kafka-esque"
I'm glad you like it, but nobody said it was bad.
Nah man you are missing the point. Some other user corrected me on the lovecraft and tentacles part being wrong. He was right and obviously didn't like the joke. Ok with that. But being this defensive about hentai is what is interesting here. Caring so much about it is concerning.
>the joke
Sure thing.
>Caring so much about it is concerning
You're putting a lot of effort into defending your own factually wrong posts and trying to convince other people that you didn't mean it.
>completely glosses over the fact that I never defended the post and actually was the first to call it a shitpost
>all these mental acrobatics to defend hentai from stereotypes
user.. you can continue enjoying it but going full akshewally over it is kinda cringy.
...
the Void was decent. Not great.. But they did well with the budget.
Yeah, I enjoyed that.
It gets a lot of shit on here, I guess everyone has their personal ideas of what Lovecraft on film should be. I thought it did very well, it nearly got the mood right - could have been more tense, could have gone into the Sheriffs history more, could have maybe been 15 minutes longer. Did well with the sfx and acting was much better than I thought it would be.
About half way through, thanks - it's good.

Same, It not a 10/10 film, but I thought it was a very good effort to make the premise work.
I think it's more Kubrickian in its Kafka-esque portrayal of Lovecraftian themes
More like warhammer 1920x1080
mouth of madness
thing
blair witch
event horizon
dagon
die farbe
reanimator
with Lynchian overtones
...and pretty much anything Brian Yuzna did.
I'd add Evil Dead as well.
>Sup Forums
Just play Darkest Dungeon. It is the most Lovecraftian vidya.
...
came here to make sure this got posted
+1 for Reanimator.
Also:
The Resurrected
The Whisperer in Darkness
>ctrl+f Evil Dead
>only one result
it even has the fucking Necronomicon for fucks sake
Haiyore Nyaruko-san
>Anything where the protag slowly loses his mind and has to face unexplained supernatural fenomena. For more specific fuck if I know. Someone better give some better recs
Jacob's Ladder
A Cure For Wellness
It's too obvious I guess.
I just remembered:
Dunwich Horror
From Beyond
...
Is it? It was always a niche series. Even other cult classics like The Thing or Event Horizon get mentioned more. I get why some people might get put off by the first Evil Dead since it hasn't aged well but Evil Dead 2 is great and Army of Darkness is good too.
I disagree. Lynch's work is heavily influenced by his place of birth. There are no Montanian overtones in this game.
I guess Evil Dead gets ignored due to the high gore content and that ain't Lovecraft.
>"Sumerian" Gods
>Necronomicon
>Protagonist losing his mind
>*fart noise so loud that over half of the test audience vomits in the theater and they are forced to turn it down in the next mastering*
fucking based
stillborne comics
never cease to amaze me
Figured here would be appropriate to ask but are there any horror discord servers I could join?
ok... we have this thread once a week now?
Altitude
The Mist
Monsters (ignore the "second one")
>tfw tried watching Cloverfield but the Deer Hunter type party scene at the start made me drop it
I just want a horror comedy starring Nyarlothotep hoping between historical eras and trolling humanity while chilling with Mi-Gos and fish men.
