this has been better than bendis run, but something is just missing.
...
I that the return of Best Groot?
It's the top of Star-Lord's mask. That's whats missing.
So Duggan is absolutely setting up Annihilation Conquest 2.0, right? That's why Ant-Man is joining the Guardians?
When is Ant-Man joining? Where'd you hear that?
That something missing is leading to terrible sales.
So what's Talonar's secret identity? They've been making way too big a deal of how he knows Quill just for it to be "oh, he heard about him."
For sure. It all lines up pretty perfectly.
>this has been better than bendis run
The blood in my stool is better than bendis' run.
#12. The solicit for it mentions they're taking a pit stop to Earth and getting a new member, and you can see Ant-Man on the cover of the first issue of the Marvel Legacy renumbering.
We've known that an Earth-hero is joining the team in the next arc, and the cover to the arc after that has Ant-man on it since Marvel is incapable of not spoiling shit.
The blood in your stool wasn't drawn by Schiti.
I do wonder how annoyed Duggan is at that, as they were trying so hard to keep it a secret.
i think he should expect it with marvel.
O SHIT I didnt even recognize that was Ant-Man, i just thought it was some rando Nova Corpsman but ayyyy more Lang :3
>inb4 Planet of the Pym Particles
He is either someone Peter knew or he interacted with someone that Peter knows.
More incoming members other than Ant-Man and Rich confirmed? Or just some leaving, as has been previously stated.
It's probably Darkhawk. I would say a strong second would be Portal. Those are the only two anybody would really care about.
I hope so.
He's also supposed to have brown hair.
More non-joke Groot.
You sure about that?
...
Yes. Thanks for asking John Cena.
What if it's Eric taking advantage of the,
not knowing his morality?
...
Saying this is better than Bendis' garbage isn't really saying anything at all, but it still isn't really "good." Duggan is trying, but the damage to Marvel Cosmic is almost irreparable bar a hard reboot and the forced synergy really drags things down. I suppose it says something that this book is selling like shit and will be canceled soon.
The costume looks more like Lang's Ant-Man than O'Grady's Black Ant. Also, I think Lang's more likely to go into space to do something about the planets taken over by Pymtron than O'Grady ever would. (plus Lang's burglary past fits with the Guardians sometimes doing burglaries these days)
I love DnA's Guardians, but I hate how they turned Groot into a joke. Giffen had a much better handle on the character. Now he's even more of a joke because of movie synergy.
This. Until they bring back DnA and retcon out everything that happened since the end of Annihilators then Marvel Cosmic will never be good again.
>but the damage to Marvel Cosmic is almost irreparable bar a hard reboot
Bullshit. This makes you sound like one of those DnAfags who refuses to like anything Marvel cosmic unless it's by them. (which is never going to happen again even if Marvel wanted it to)
Also, sales =/= quality. I find it far more likely they'll stop the double-shipping before they cancel the book, especially with how they still have Captain Marvel going.
It's never coming back. Accept it
Shut the fuck up and don't ever insult something written by DnA again. They could write circles around Giffen.
it's just lacking something with the characters. like rocket almost dying feels sort of just there. you know he won't die and him trying to help gamora and drax is just muffled over. same with the fight with pete and talon, it's just oh okay it's over that's it. okay.
I really like this artist on this book, is he going to stay?
I think so, although Marcus To is doing the first arc of the Legacy relaunch.
Pretty sure Ant-Man and Rich will come in and we will see Drax leave (he's a pacifist) or maybe Gamora? (probably not since we'll have a sausagefest). Maybe Groot depending how he is after his arc ends (probably not since Editorial would want to milk the Baby Groot stuff).
Hopefully Phyla and Adam join.
>preferring meme-lord light to cynical-lord
Jesus
According to Engelhart he had dark hair and you can see here that his hair is black and darker than a lot of the people who have light hair, he's certainly a brunette.
By the time the image you posted and happened Engelhart was already gone and Claremont and Byrne were in the comic and retconning shit and Bendis based his Star-Lord on the Claremont run.
Hell, Spartax and J'Son are retcons.
>Hell, Spartax and J'Son are retcons.
Yes. Original Jason was a good guy who said he never had another biological kid since Meredith was his only true love.
This image clearly has Peter and Jason with brown hair though. He was only ever blonde on some of the covers for the black and white comics where they screwed it up.
>Hopefully Phyla and Adam join
Aren't they still dead?
Might as well post this news here since it has relevance. The guys who did the ANGOTG annual are writing the Darkhawk one-shot, and it's tying into the series with the Fraternity of Raptors coming after Chris for his amulet. Some stuff in the interview really sounds like it's setting him up for an appearance in ANGOTG.

DARKHAWK #51
CHAD BOWERS & CHRIS SIMS (W) • KEV WALKER (A)
Cover by DAVID NAKAYAMA
The RETURN Part 1 (OF 1)
Years ago, Chris Powell discovered a mysterious amulet that allowed him to transform into the spacefaring gladiator known as DARKHAWK. With his newfound edge against crime, he stood against some of the most extreme threats the Marvel Universe has to offer! Now, when two members of the Fraternity of Raptors descend on New York with designs on stealing the amulet and returning it to the stars, it’s not Darkhawk who has to rise to the challenge…it’s Chris Powell!
Gamora's quest for the Soul Stone could help fix that
Didn't Starlin bring Adam back in a really confusing way?
>Saying this is better than Bendis' garbage isn't really saying anything at all
True, so I'll say that it has been interesting and good for me since Bendis' shit wasn't interesting or good at all. It's not Giffen and DnA but I'm enjoying it.
>I suppose it says something that this book is selling like shit and will be canceled soon.
Book was selling shit at the end of Bendis' run and because he poisoned the well, also because Marvel's flagship comics have been shit.
That said I'll enjoy this until it gets cancelled or whatever, and I guess you can waste your time and keep bumping this thread with how upset you are about this comic.
>Until they bring back DnA
They broke up, Abnett came back but no one bought his stuff and is now with DC, Lanning is a shit writer by himself, get over it and move on because there will never bee a DnA ever again.
>They broke up, Abnett came back but no one bought his stuff and is now with DC, Lanning is a shit writer by himself, get over it and move on because there will never bee a DnA ever again.
I wish we could get Giffen on the title.
hopefully moondragon can show up at least once. drax hasn't spoken to her since thanos imperative.
Everything with Adam is a really confusing way but the dude literally can't stay dead. It's one of his features.
No, there was no J'Son or Spartax in the original Engelhart run, Peter was just a human born during an unusual astrological occurrence.
Claremont and Byrne introduced J'Son and Spartax and yes J'Son was a good guy who in the end just wanted to reconnect with his son, the evil guy was Star-Lord's uncle.
Honestly if they retcon shit Bendis J'Son into being Peter's uncle in disguise I would be all for it. It would also explain the lack of love he has for Peter.
This character has been getting attention lately.
Honestly I would settle for a Darkhawk and Nova buddy comic (it wouldn't sell though).
So shit that they didn't talk during this, Bendis was just so fucking weird about those two, especially how he had that alt Rocket (in Guardians of Knowhere) bring up the fact that Moondragon was his daughter and that Drax just flat out denies it and said they had no relationship.
It didn't serve the story or anything, it was just dumb.
After how he wrote Rebirth Blue Beetle? I don't know.
Not to mention he's not going to write Peter like he used to, not even Abnett did which is why he brought in his own Peter Quill in Guardians 3000
bendis had a thing with moondragon and mantis. idk.
Almost nothing Marvel does sells anymore
Well that was anti-climactic.
maybe he just writes better on certain titles?
I'd love some more Darkhawk. He was pretty 90s but I really enjoy his design and DnA bringing him into War of Kings was pretty cool, even if it shat all over his own series.
Y'know what, sure, sounds pretty good to me.
I've always liked Darkhawk ever since I read about him in the League of Losers Marvel team up story.
Now I'll get to say I own a darkhawk comic. It'll go perfectly with the figure I own.
>I suppose it says something that this book is selling like shit and will be canceled soon.
What? Wasn't this selling fi-
>All New Guardians of the Galaxy 6 23,277
Oh so this book won't survive the year and all the plots that got set-up won't even see their conclusion.
Guess people weren't reading Guardians after all. The good numbers of Guardians previously were literally just the 50k people that apparently can't get enough of Bendis' inconsequential drivel.
Well then, between this and Nova, I guess cosmic will go back to being dead then.
Whatever sales bump Legacy will hopefully give it might buy it more time. They might also just stop shipping it twice a month
>Abnett came back but no one bought his stuff
Guardians 3k was fun. I would've liked to see more of it. Sadly comic book buyers are really single-minded.
honestly? i think people probably buy bendis junk because it has good art.
Marvel also hypes all of his stuff up as
THE SUPERSTAR WRITER BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS OF ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN FAME REIMAGINES THIS FRANCHISE YOU ALWAYS HEARD ABOUT! JUMP ON RIGHT NOW!
Meanwhile Duggan takes over and it's back to like one single interview once every few months or something. And you need to dig even that up from some shitty comic book news site.
His Guardians wasn't selling towards the end, honestly he poisoned the well and a lot of people that were hyped and liked his GotG when it started were also tired of it towards the end because they realized it was a waste of time.
Couple that with Marvel being shit and Duggan was given a doomed title and Duggan himself is not helping by taking his time with the story.
And yeah like said Marvel hypes the shit out of Bendis' comics, he gets the best artists and the most attention.
>Duggan himself is not helping by taking his time with the story.
To be fair, getting two issues a month kind of helps makes that not feel so bad.
>Well then, between this and Nova, I guess cosmic will go back to being dead then.
To be fair, whatever little hype could be drummed up for Nova has been dead for a long time.
I have no clue how Marvel managed to crash the momentum GotG had after 2 movies this quickly, though.
>>All New Guardians of the Galaxy 6 23,277
I am fucking /livid/
Fuck everyone, this is why we don't deserve good things!
Dude, it's even worse. If the unit and dollar rank differences were true for last month, then it has been overshipped by like 30% every issue since it launched. #5 is when the overshipping stopped, and sales cratered.
>I have no clue how Marvel managed to crash the momentum GotG had after 2 movies this quickly, though.
Bendis.
Even Bendis fans jumped ship, it's how bad it got and now no one can wash off the bad taste.
I've seen a lot of people assuming that this run is the same shit as Bendis' without reading much or any of it. It's a shame.
Comic makes a big deal of Talonar knowing Quill
>He corrects Peter on the Nova rank
Fuck, it better not be a brainwashed Rich or anything like that.
The other person I can think of is Robbie since Duggan mentioned he was missing and hinted on him being in this comic.
Well, Mephisto, the rest of this arc is Talonar vs. Rich, so I'm thinking Robbie is pretty likely. Either him or Garthan Saal. It's possible that the crew Saal was putting together took over the Fraternity of Raptors instead of becoming a new Black Nova Corps since the nova force was gone once Rich went into the Cancerverse. Both are lingering plot threads from DnA Cosmic and to a lesser extent, Duggan's own Nova run.
Although I guess Saal wouldn't necessarily know Peter, so Robbie is a bit more likely in that regard.
Rich is being brought in to fight the Raptors in a couple of issues, and then joining the Guardians after that, so I doubt it. The issue also implied he doesn't know Quill nearly as well as someone like Rich would.
It being Robbie, however... that's something I hadn't considered.
Even if Ant-Man join the team... what does that have to do with Ultron? current Ant-Man isn't Pym and I don't want to see him as Ant-Man again, Pymtron has a lot of potential.
Personally, I think Saal's the one who's restarted the Nova Corps. It seems like a perfect opportunity to resolve that plotline.
On another note, how many plotlines has Duggan laid the seeds for so far?
>feuding between the Elders of the Universe
>Nova Corps
>Fraternity of Raptors
>evil Groots
>Infinity Stones
>Soul World (could be counted as one with the Infinity Stones)
>worlds attacked/taken over by Ultron
I'm probably forgetting some. That's a lot of storylines so far, and I really hope he can do it all without executive meddling.
Lang is friends with Pym, and would want to do something about those planets he invaded in the name of the Avengers.
