SG-1

So I just watched the Stargate movie, and I am watching the series for the first time.

Lets talk about this series.

bump

I'm rewatching it and found out that a woman that was in Jonas Quinn planet is also the mother of Eli in Stargate Universe. Recasting is a hell of a thing

...

comfy series

I'm in the middle of season 2.
Why don't they carry goauld staff weapons or at least keep the pistols as a sidearm?
I get that bullets are still effective on the Jafar because they wear armor to fight technologically inferior civs, but the goauld weapons are still superior.

never watched stargate. is it on the same level as bsg?

>bsg

Never watched it. Hell I never watched Star Trek TNG.

SG1 is required Sci-fi viewing, almost on the same level as TNG

If you like self-aware shows that aren't afraid to get a little campy then you won't be disappointed.
there's also a lot of eye candy

i tried watching tng but i just couldn't do it

Because this

Sg1 is far more humorous and less up it's own ass on how intelligent it thinks it is.

Because staff weapons are slow and heavy, they would require extra training for their use. Besides they addressed this issue comparing the staff with a P90 and O'Neill declared the staff was a weapon of terror designed to intimidate the enemy where the P90 was a weapon of war designed to kill the enemy, aside from the demonstration of accuracy from a jaffa marksman that got 2/3 of a log and Carter destroying the target.

If it wasn't due to the writers strike that ruined the end of BSG it would be true. But SG1 is more of a comfy show with formulaic storyline (enemy ruins the day, they get their asses kicked, Carter comes up with a wacky science plan, pew pew, sarcastic comment, pew pew, indeed, pew pew sg1 saves the earth) where BSG is more of a serious show with both feet on the ground with no comedic relief

I finished rewatching it a few weeks ago, it's still one of the comfiest shows ever made.
But I'll be forever pissed off that O'Neill wasn't in Unending. Fuck, that would have been the best episode.

Huh, they released the whole original movie in youtube and just realized that Skaara was portrayed by Alexis Cruz in both the movie and the show

BASED O'Neill

A lot of people hate the post O'Neill seasons, but I still find them quite enjoyable. I like the progression of Earth within an established intergalactic universe.

Did FN Herstal sponsor sg1?

The female?

That p90 scene I always assumed if it really happened they would have used bigger guns but since it's a TV show with a budget they had to use p90. Would have been neat if they brought back the malp tank for that scene but it was apparently too expensive to use that thing. youtu.be/4MMjYfXDvSA

I think it was prop costs that made them switch from MP5 to P90

More like thanks 9/11 and the war in Iraq ammo got really expensive. That's why later Carter started using a weird gun dubbed the Carter special. stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Micro_16_assault_rifle
The producers also said they liked the p90 because it was easier to film because of how it ejected the casings.

Everyone thinks that the show only used p90s, but if you pay attention they do use a lot of different guns.
