Would you be okay with this show ending at season 12?
Has it peaked and needs to take a bow and get off the stage, or is the best yet to come?

We should at lease see how Dennis does at being a Dad. After 13, it should end. I’m mainly seeing that some of the jokes are old references and repeated ones (I.e Rumham)
It hasn't peaked. It hasn't even begun to peak. When it peaks you'll feel it. The whole city will feel it peaking.
Yes it's gettin worse, but still great. I can't understand how these 3 guys can keep show so good for 12 years now.
The last season was utterly abysmal, should have ended with them drowning on the cruise ship.
I'd take a movie to close things out.
Personally, I think The Gang Tend A Bar would have been a great finisher, them doing what they were actually suppose to be doing all along.
It ended a little too quickly, the last episode felt a little rushed, but it wasn't bad. It was rushed, sure, but that felt like it worked for these people.
It wasn't some sappy dramatic thing, it was quick, dirty and awkward. And I wouldn't have had it any other way.
If ASIP never returns I will consider it one of the best comedies of the early 2000's and I am kinda' willing to leave it there.
underrated post
It has peaked like 5 seasons ago. It's still okay I guess, but it's getting worse and worse. They should just end it while they still have some semblance of dignity.
The good:
>creative premise well executed
>every season had gold, even the worst, latter-seasons still had genuinely good stuff to be found
>real series-long character arcs
>genuinely funny characters and interactions
>clever and entertaining schemes and plots
>good callbacks, where season 11 would shout out mid-season 1 and it never felt forced
The bad:
>blatant flanderization
>some questionable decisions about which points TO flanderize
>no real ending for most of the main characters
>some really mediocre plotlines here and there
>a lot of the repeating characters weren't as charming as they thought
Overall, probably one of the best sitcoms of this millennia so far.
I don't think there will be a S13. And if there isn't they did end it with dignity.
peaked after season 8 or 9 desu
if this is what you call an underrated post, you'll love reddit
go to your people
The best part of Sunny is how well these people hide how they actually are.
If you've seen an interview with Rob, Charlie and the others you'll realize that most of them are actually ultra-liberal pricks.
I mean these people are downright unlikable IRL.
I know Rob is
Rob is. Totally. I've heard he's a total arthouse pretentious dick talking about how he's made the next step of comedy and all sorts of shit.
That being said, Mac is NOTHING like that, and he hides his "real" self incredibly well in the character.
It went to shit after season 7.
Now it all feels like self-referential wankery.
Are there people on Sup Forums who seriously belive this show has not ended?
This show has been on longer than Seinfeld was. Why was Seinfeld such a sensation yet this show is still somewhat obscure? Is it because of the internet?
Nostalgia. ASIP isn't old enough for people to be nostalgic yet, and officially the show actually hasn't ended yet. Imdb still reports the show to not have ended.
Seinfeld scores a ton of nostalgia-points.
The show's "bad" episodes are better than almost anything out there. Still, there has been a decline, and I'd prefer if they went out somewhat gracefully.
ironic because Mac is the worse actor of the bunch.
It was very heavily syndicated for a while. Not to the degree Seinfeld is and not so much anymore, idk what happened. Could have something to do with the fact Seinfeld was on primetime NBC and this got relegated to FXX around season (9?) But I wouldn't call it obscure at all.
I agree. Even at it's lowest this show is still a million times better than ultra-normalfag BBT-tier shit.
When ASIP shines though, it is a radiant star.
this show stopped being funny S5
every character is just a parody of themselves now
every show goes for 15 seasons now
you're prob to young but Seinfeld is not a nostalgia show, it was a cultural phenomenon
It’s weird how he says this because I always thought he and DeVito were the best. Charlie Day just basicaly acts like a stupider version of himself, and Glenn a more psychopathic version of himself. Rob at least is acting like a different person. Not that any of them are bad, but Rob deserves credit
Is Sunny obscure? Every girl in her 20s loves this show
The series ends with the gang acidentally killing jerry seinfeld.
It's went a little downhill since season 9, but IMO the show is still at a strong 7/10. I would like 1 more season, and I think they should call it after that.
However, I think it peaked in Season 6. Specifically the episode A Very Sunny Christmas. It's just a great episode in a lot of ways, it captures the essence of Sunny in the best way possible.
lol no
I don't know if I'd agree to another season, it's getting stale and I think they know it, but I will never argue that ASIP probably had the greatest Christmas special ever made by a sitcom.
I think they can make another 10 seasons and it'll still be better than most of the trash 'comedy' out there. Just super-sayin
In fairness, that's not setting the bar terribly high.
That being said, I personally feel that Dennis has aged poorly. In the show he's become very poorly defined, and his actor is starting to show his age. Where Charlie and Mac essentially look the exact same as S1, Dennis looks noticeably worse.
It should have ended already.
And they're so good they could do something with that. Something about Dennis' psychopathic narcissism and never being able to attain his prior levels of physical perfection.
If the show ended with all of them actually dying on the cruise this show would've gone down as the greatest comedy of all time. Sadly, they decided to continue and it's been complete shit since.
I honestly wouldn't have enjoyed that ending. It needs to end now though. The three guys the show was originally about (Dee was always a side character in my eyes) have had their archs.
Mac's come out gay.
Dennis wants to try to be a father.
Charlie slept with the waitress.
It's the perfect ending.
He's too shallow IRL to do that.
OP literally intentionally set up this reply in his post. Probably samefag
Ehhh Mac’s looking pretty aged these days too. The only one who really hasn’t changed to me is Charlie
Charlie's changed a lot bot it's hard to see it because his character's always grown a beard of some form.
Dee's just hidden the age under increasing layers of makeup.
S12 Mac might as well be S1 Mac.
>every girl in her 20s loves this show
You're thinking of the office
I hate that they dropped Fatmac for Fagmac. There was so much fun in gluttonous Mac and being in denial about being a huge fatass. So they instead made him.in denial about being a fag which is so much less interesting.
Mac’s hairline has receded a good bit, he’s bulkier all around probably due to the fat Mac weight gain as well. Seriously compare a picture from the new season to s1, he used to look a lot twinkier and lively
I don't know man, I'm not seeing it. The reason you can see his hairline is because he's wearing it different in S12 and honestly he looks pretty similar in body shape to season 1 IMO.
I mean I'm sure you could cherrypick a good comparison but on an episode-to-episode basis I can't see it.
Should have ended with The Gang Squashes Their Beefs, except on a larger scale. The Gang invites all the side characters from previous seasons to Paddy's Bar in an attempt to reconcile with them. Ends with the whole bar catching fire and the Gang leaving Philly to set up shop somewhere else.
It would be like the antithesis of the Seinfeld finale.
S12 was really bad. The show had clearly run out of steam, I didn't even finish the "Being Frank" episode. I feel like the Wade Boggs episode was where things started going downhill.
Cliffnotes on 12? Don't wanna waste my time if it's that bad.
>blatant flanderization
I really don't see this as a negative. Your third negative is also bogus.
kino
i thought it was implied they were doin a whole curb hiatus after the next season
Seinfeld was insanely popular even when it was airing
season 13 is confirmed
The entire show references itself retard. The hitler painting was in the nightman play in season 4 yet they only went into the hitler bit later on
And no in the 1st season charlie gets the painting from pop pop
>Next step in comedy
>Writing the Minecraft movie
>Dennis leaves to take care of his bastard child
>Charlie sleeps with the waitress, but he hates it
>Mac continues to flip-flop with being gay
It tries really hard to shake up the status quo near the end, but kind of falls flat. There's no build-up or tension leading up to them, there never was to begin with, never needed to be.
Now, they've done a big mix-up and it's just like...ok. That happened.
having a prime timeslot on a major network helped a lot
>Midway through [season 4], Seinfeld was moved from its original 9:00 p.m. time slot on Wednesdays to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays, following Cheers again, which gave the show even more popularity. Ratings also sparked the move, as Tim Allen's sitcom Home Improvement on ABC had aired at the same time and Improvement kept beating Seinfeld in the ratings. NBC moved the series after Ted Danson announced the end of Cheers and Seinfeld quickly surpassed the ratings of the 9:00 p.m. Cheers reruns that spring.

Source on him talking about how great he is? The guys being liberal doesn’t bother me because they never force it on their show and I’ve seen Howerton interviewed and he said they’d never apologize or tone down their fucked up humor. They’re the rare liberals that seem to understand the difference between offensive jokes and reality.
Sunny is heavily syndicated. It airs about 6 times a day on Viceland and also reruns on Comedy Central, FXX, and at one point some random local channels.
honetly it sohuld have ended at gang goes to hell
it was the perfect embodiment of the show and a great send off for all the characters
Sunny is officially on the hook for Season 13 and Season 14. If they don’t produce those two seasons of 20 episodes (10 each), they’ll be breaking their contract with FX and would likely get into legal drama.
This. They can’t break a contract and I believe they’re already writing the new season
