Franco and the Spanish Civil War was a fascinating period leading up to WWII.
Communists and leftists were threatening an overthrow in Spain, among many other groups, and Franco with his Nationalists & fascists went to vicious war against them, later on with military aid by Hitler and Mussolini. Likewise; the Soviet Union sent aid to the leftists. After much bloodshed in a 2 year fight, Franco and his group eventually took over much of the country & closed in and defeated the communists.
He got into power via a fascist dictatorship, and began a brutal purge of anyone who was communist and leftist, with any leftovers fleeing.
Franco declared that as long as he lives, and wherever he may be, there will be no communism, and that all communists should be exterminated like worms.

I like Franco for killing commies and keeping them out of Spain but he completely used the falangists in Spain. He basically killed Primo de Rivera, who was a hero to the movement, by refusing to take a prisoner trade deal. Most think it's because Rivera would have been a threat to Franco's power as he was more committed to the cause of National Syndicalism.

I've just started to support NatSoc/Fascism, and I've been reading about many NatSoc leaders online. I'm mostly interested in the contributions to citizens of their country, such as Hitler helping Germany recover from its depression and Perón increasing the quality of life for the Argentine people, but there is one leader that I know next to nothing about and that's Mussolini. All I know about his contributions was that he increased employment and aggrandized his nation through imperialism, but that's it. So, in what ways did Mussolini help the people of his nation? What shape was Italy in before his rule? What did he do to put it in better shape? I also haven't been able to find anything of Francisco Franco's actions to make a war ravaged Spain prosper, nor have I found anything really significant about his leadership.
