Ewing's Marvel Epic Pt. 1

Now that Bendis' Daredevil has finished, I'm goint to post Ewing's Marvel Tenure as had been requested. The stories are going to be posted in the following order (unless one of you guys can come up with something better).
>Mighty Avengers
>Loki Agent of Asgard
>Captain America and Mighty Avengers
>Captain Britain and the Defenders
>Contest of Champions
>Ultimates Vol. 1
>New Avengers Vol. 3
>Ultimates Vol. 2
>US Avengers

NOt gonna lie, I did not know what to think when a new Mighty Avengers series was announced. I had never heard of Ewing and I actually liked Slott's run. It's been a while since I read it so lets get right into it

One page in and already Thanos is involved. I love characters that always have distinct dialog bubbles.

>Plunder Rays
I love this guy.

I'm not normally a fan of Land but I really like this paneling.

...

...

I forgot how much I enjoyed Spock

Ummm we already kind of did this today.

I'm starting to think King ripped off Blue Streak with his Kite Man

Monica is lookin fine

Not even 8 hours ago.

Don't care. I planned for this. Double then fun.

I actually hate this shitty Halle Berry look. Give me that 70's afro any day.

I think I liked her Nextwave attire more.

...

...

...

...

...

...

Monica looks like a white chick with brown skin wtf
I mean I know this is LAND and all but couldn't he have traced a black actress?

...

Wish they had just said "rip and tear".

I think I just found my new favorite Spider costume.

Ewing knocked it out of the park with his first issue.

...

...

...

Ewing wasted absolutely no time setting up the major players. I like that.

Maybe he just traced Halle Berry? A lot.

...

This was my first exposure to Blue Marvel and I can't believe I had never heard of him till now.

...

I'm liking this mystery guy more and more already.

...

...

They threw a brick. Fantastic.

...

...

Even Halle Berry looks blacker than Monica here, it's really weird. Looks like a chick with a really intense tan rather than an actual black woman

...

...

...

...

'
I wonder if Land traced stock photos or porn for these pages.

Well this situation just escalated.

...

Google "grumpy old lady"

...

...

...

I'm starting to like this new Power Man.

...

Don't feel too bad, Ewing's the only reason ANYBODY knows about him. Before Ewing, he was basically an OC Mary Sue who was a superhero before the Fantastic Four, but stronger and smarter than all the other superheroes (even beating a guy who stomped Sentry into the ground), who only stopped because racism.
Ewing actually made him an interesting character. I meant to post his first mini at some point before doing my storytime, but I couldn't be bothered.

...

...

...

best girl

Blue Marvel is on point

...

...

Ewwwwwwwww

Yeah, Blue Marvel was basically every stereotype about Superman ever but played straight and we were supposed to be okay with it because he's black.

...

ded girl

...

>"some side effects"
Cut to Ultimates, where she's now an energy being who has to actively try to stay human instead of the reverse.

...

God damn

That's a big tiger.

...

Ow

pour vous

...

...

Very interesting group of heroes. I wonder if this was Marvel's mandate or Ewing specifically choosing.

...

...

I know Hickman wanted the real Spider-Man and Wolverine in his Avengers. Not sure about this one though.

...

...

You'll be missing critical Ewing written books doing only those. Everything matters

I've always been intrigued by different manifestations of super speed.

Not as cool as the Sons of the Tiger having a Kung Fu fight with God, but really, what COULD be?

...

...

...

What?

Ha

Meet D.W. Griffith, Luke Cage's original White Best Friend. This is only his second appearances since the 70's ended.

SpOck was a great idea under the right writers. Unfortunately Slott wasn't one of those writers. Although I did somewhat enjoy the main Superior book despite its many flaws.

...

Not really. His Iron Man comic is pretty irrelevant and so is his Rocket. The Ulysses comic will probably only matter to Royals, which is pretty shit.

So close

>that first panel reference

I really enjoyed the Superior book as well. As much shit as I give Slott, he's still an interesting enough writer that I feel compelled to keep reading his series. It's probably my biggest guilty pleasure out meow

...

On the topic of Hank Pym, how did everyone feel about Avengers A.I.?
