Aliens is better because the characters are more defined before they die. You LIKE these guys, you're not introduced to a horror and then are expected to care for some literally-who in the last half.
The second half also has the advantage of you KNOWING the most about this literally-who in the 2nd movie and her having a more prominent part throughout.

Best space horror movie ever made and one of the best horror movies in general. Fantastic atmosphere, acting, sets, art design and the Alien itself is a perfect design in every way from symbolic horror to pure primal horror. Genuinely love this film.

Nope. It's because the Xenomorph biology is more defined. It's simply a more interesting and more aesthetic movie. It's got everything: deep Science Fiction, Action, Character development, Greedy corporations. It's an all-around perfect movie.

Character development is much better in aliens 3 IMO. I can't see what it adds to aliens. Alien has the greedy company already, it's a major compontent early on, up to ash's death, and it's one of the intereting things to keep eyes on after the first watch.
