Dex's story is a simple "the world has wronged me, I will get back at the world" origin. Nothing that interesting, other than the fact that it's from the point of view of a cat.

I'd argue that Joker has a more interesting origin, because there are several floating around out there than range from "He's a fucking nut" to "he was an innocent man who became the joker after his nemesis, Batman, brutalized him because he thought he was some criminal mastermind when he was really just some poor schmuck in a helmet"

WRONG.
You just oversimplified Dex-Starr's origin with a very vague description, so you could call it "simple".
Using that same line of thought, i could say the sun is simply a very big molten rock floating in the vacuum.

Dex-Starr isn't the Joker though so that makes him exactly 73% better!

>very big molten rock
That's not an oversimplification. That's just plain wrong.

Miracleman

Wolverine, while overused to the point that everyone is tired of him, has a fascinating origin. Long lived mutant with healing powers is modified against his will into a living weapon. And Movie Rocket is essentially Raccoon X. Both have great backgrounds, though they had to ditch almost all of Rocket's comic backstory to make it work.

Just like that guy's description of Dex-Starr's origin, so all is well.

>the sun is molten rock
this angers the 8th grade science teacher that is me

This is one of those things that I can't believe is still in comics today, like doesn't the fact that a non-sapient creature can get a ring cheapen the idea of rings as a whole?

Nah, it makes sense given that the rings are usually unbiased to what species something is. Plus we get characters like Bzzt.

...

Black Manta hates Aquaman because he was raped by autistic dolphins preventing him from creating the perfect undersea black society and killing his father. Or so Im told, doubt it matters

Rip in peace

Two words: mongoose blood.

Whizzer deserved more love.

If only Yat wasn't a bitch Bzzd would still be here.

Makuta Teridax went from a lowly creature creator to a god.

I've never understood what this page tries to convey. Is it implying that he just saw something while on the future that changed him forever?

Dex's story makes me cry errytime.

I could be talking out of my ass, but I think it's kind of a summation of the comic: intense detail on Golden Age superheroes that is uncomfortable to look at. I think the new coloring detracts from this idea a bit though

>Pre-Crisis
He was raped by pirates while calling for Aquaman who didn't hear him. Also was autistic. His hate for Aquaman didn't go even when the latter used his telepathy on Manta and cured him of his autism.

>Post-Crisis
Wanted to get Aquaman's blood sample, but he also caused the latter's father to have a heart-attack.

This resulted in Aquaman to kill Manta's father by accident (because Aquaman thought that Manta's father is Manta himself).

Since then both were in a cycle of never-ending revenge.

...

He didn't oversimplify shit, it's just that simple. That doesn't mean it's bad, but Dex's origin is as simple as he said.
The character itself is very interesting, but its origin lacks any complexity.

It was a joke user

this. hell we would have less sympathy for it if it was from a point of view of a human owned by an alien.

thanks. I have not read much of him post crisis

Vandal Savage. A random schmuck that's been mucking about since the last ice age.

Did you remember to carry the one user?

Seriously what? I can understand a cat being a huge evil bitch, but how the fuck is a fly supposed to be a justice-loving green lantern?

Captain marvel

Pic related.

If anyone needs a refresher:
When Magneto ripped the metal out of Wolverine back in the day, Xavier freaked out and wiped Magneto's mind, later becoming an X-Men for the first time I believe. That was the worst thing Xavier did, going over the line by his moral standards. This act was deeply emotional, not like his normal calculated manner, and the connection to Magneto's psyche spark a filament or evil inside Xavier. It grew slowly causing Xavier to do very bad things, like rip the cyttorak gem out of his step brother's chest leaving him for dead fro the fun of it. When it finally grew strong enough, it left Xavier, took all his abilities, and ended up murdering more mutants and heroes in Marvel than anyone else to date.

Great story arch if you've never read it. Plus its all about 90's marvel, the good years.

Had this pic too coincidentally

As much as I like 90's Marvel, the whole Onslaught arc was...hit or miss.

wolverine has the best origin and I dont event like him. I mean the weapon x stuff.

Cobra Commander

Lex Luthor and his stand, 「ALL MY LIFE」

...

but his origin story was very interesting

Who would kill more mutants? Wanda or Onslaught?

fuck off dogfag

What issue is this from?

And yet they could've taken the character somewhere else...

Maybe when they rezz the Professor, then they'll do something with Onslaught?

He's an Apiatonian, not an Earth housefly. They're like flies crossed with wasps, but intelligent.
