I only watched it up until [spolier] the goose was killed [spoiler/] Didn't watch anymore after that.
Also his tattoos looks good even though they are shit, what's up with that?
I too was saddened by the death of the goose. Rest of the movie is still good though
People on this board would rather discuss childrens movies that a film which actually broaches the topics of masculinity and fatherhood. I remember seeing this when it came out with my gf who was pregnant at the time at I genuinely felt something while watching it.
*effeminate screaming intensifies*
Watched it an hour ago, I definitely felt something too. It's a very emotionally complex movie, there's a lot to process. And the plot is genius
This is an incredibly powerful film especially in this day and age, because it's all about fatherhood, or lack thereof.
Luke has no father, ends up as some loser doing bike tricks in the circus. When he has a kid, he sees a real opportunity to fix this next generation by being with him and giving him the father he never had, unfortunately his methods to do so are his downfall.
The cop who shoots him then goes on a crusade against his corrupt police force to do "good," but he neglects his kid and ends up barely ever seeing him. When his ex wife tells him that his son wants to live with him, he acts as if it's just an inconvenience.
In the third act the two fatherless children, Jason and the cop's son meet. Jason has never truly accepted his stepfather despite caring for him, and the cop's son has become damaged by being away from his father for so long. In the end, the cycle continues: Jason runs off with a bike like his father and the cop's son enjoys the glamor of political life. Fatherlessness has caused everything to reset once again.
It's possible that both Jason and AJ broke the cycle. AJ cleaned up and began to respect his father. We don't know what Jason chose to do after leaving Schenectady.
GET THE *FUH*CK DOWN ON THE FL*OOH*OHHLRRR!!!
guys its good we're trying to sound all smart and shit once in a while but shit its just a movie where gooseman is a tatted circus freak in motorcycle pants and metaliiac shirt honestly the plot could be about anything
This, it's just a shitty try hard flick
No, it's kino. Good themes, unique plot, all round well executed
I hate plots that hinge on a major coincidence like the sons becoming friends randomly.
The film does leave it up to interpretation, but I think it was trying to to show how abuse and neglect lead to a cycle that affects future generations deeply. What I thought was interesting was how it was taking two people from very different classes but showing how materialism/education and opportunity still can mean little when someone lacks proper guidance from an idol.
The perfect 3 arc kino desu.
In this Gosfest, the Goose sports a trailertrash persona, complete with face tattoos and a motorcycle fetish. His kid turns out to be an ugly loser, which is disappointing, but at least Bradley Cooper is forced to split screen time with a talentless D-list young adult "actor", which pleased me to no end.
There weren't too many women stinking up the screen and thankfully there were even fewer carnies involved, over all I'd give it a 7/10
my head canon says he joined the circus and got a qt latina pregnant
The son of the police guy should've died too
A never ending cycle
What would that accomplish?
>AJ cleaned up and began to respect his father.
Did he? I don't know, in the end when Bradley Cooper's at his big elections party they kinda treat his son like some random kid who's just there to look happy and clap, and to me it seemed like he looks at his father more with sadness than respect and has to force himself to clap and smile for the cameras. I could never really figure Bradley Cooper's character anyway, he wasn't a bad guy obviously but there seemed to be something off about him being such a calculating careerist.
I really enjoyed this movie but the confrontation between Avery and Jason was very underwhelming
I see it differently, Jason was genuinely smiling as he clapped for his dad. He didn't have to do that. And remember when Avery (Bradley Cooper) was yelling at Jason, asking if AJ was ok? Yelling at someone who has a gun in your face is proof that you care. It was almost as if the trauma of the home invasion united the father and son.
Avery wasn't a calculating careerist, he was a bread-winning father, just like Luke (Ryan Gosling). He stood up to a corrupt police department and demanded a promotion.
*AJ was genuinely smiling as he clapped for his dad.
Nothing, but I hate that little wigger
Dr. Cross I'm Driver
You missed out, the flick opened up a ton after Goose died. I say this as someone who only watched it because it was a Goose film
Someday my paaaaain
Someday my pain will mark youuuu
second part is a bit boring but the last third is actually great
>he didn't get to see the part where goose's son visits the guy goose lived with and starts asking about his dad, and gets given the sunglasses goose would wear
Maybe not the best part of the film but I always love shit like that
>If you ride like lightning you're gonna crash like thunder
Kino
Can't we stop to mention the soundtrack? its beyond fantastic, it stood with me long after the movie was over.
I agree. I wish the first act was the entire movie though...
I gotta say, this jew played a convincing portrayal of a New York guido meathead kid. I went to school with so many people like this.

beautiful. that scene with the cryin shames is so moving. probably the first movie in a long time to use springsteen's dancing in the dark that I liked.
This, the soundtrack is 10/10
awesome movie. Why aren't there more that expand the story telling over generations. Love this shit.
Consider watching The Son. I never watched the miniseries, just read the book and loved it. Has the kind of storytelling you're looking for
