M.Night

Let’s have a discussion about M.Night Shyamalan. How did this guy go from being a joke to making good movies again? The Visit and Split are way better than anything he released after The Village. I mean the Village was mediocre but the movies after really declined in quality.

he is good with low budget movies.

this. he crumbles under pressure.

I don’t know why nobody talks about split anymore, it’s one of the few films I’ve seen in years that’s really stuck with me

>The Sixth Sense a joke

I watched it last night and wasn’t expecting the ending at all. I fucking lost it when I saw Bruce Willis and realized that unbreakable theme was playing.

he's a story about the dangers of buying into your own dumb meme-hype. got sent to detention for a bit.

while we're on the topic, The Village is such a beautifully shot, creepy, fun movie that got subsumed by people self-congratulating over "figuring out" the ending.

It fucked me up good bro

I liked every single movie he made, except Air Bender and After Earth - those I haven't watched, but it seems like he was just director for hire so I'm not interested..
I just like his slow burn, grounded style, and his movies are shot beautifully most of the time. Always excited to go and see new one. And he does not deserve all the shit he gets

The Visit is a movie that ends in FUCKING SPOILER ALERT a woman who is about a two hour drive from her parent's house realizing that their children are trapped in said house with two deranged murderers.

So she calls the local Sheriff, but the Sheriff in't there. So what can she do? Well, she drives all the way there, the whole two hours, wakes up the Sheriff, and goes to the house.

See, that's the thing with M Night, he may have a view for camerawork and stuff, but I think he's somewhat autistic or something, so there's a lot of stuff in his movies that a normal person would realize make no sense. But he doesn't.

I liked After Erf desu

Jaden is a bullshit actor but underneath that is I think a well-realised world and a good story.

I don't understand why that doesn't make sense. her children are in danger.

Jesus Christ.

Okay. Focus. Your children are in danger but far away. The first law enforcement office you try doesn't answer. You are a normal person with a normal intellect. What do you do?

you could point out some nonsensical shit in literally every movie ever made. it means nothing unless you are biased against movie/director

>STILL doesnt know how to use spoiler tags
I guess reddit is here to stay.

turn 360 degrees and walk away?

The Happening is great youtu.be/jEbl-umsFOM

That old hag was creepy as af though

So Mr.Glass is going to fight the Horde in the next movie?

You like The Happening?

Sure. But some are dumber than others.

Yes I really liked it when it came out. And I can explain.

>I was 10 years younger and more impressionable.
>Movie had some legit tense moments, you can't deny that
>It kept me guessing the whole time what the hell is happening, since I didn't know the plot/twist at all

The only thing that bothered me was Wahlberg, he's okay in certain roles but here he was totally miscast and gave a shitty performance

>Implying I give a shit about it actually spoiling that shit for anybody
