Dumbing of Age! Where stress is fun and being concerned for someone is a bad thing or something....?

Well... that was really...... something. I guess.

I'm just gonna... leave my DID document here for anyone who missed the past thread or two.

Well, this is a whole lotta nothing.
Also, Dorothy should not be asking the literal hospital patient to be keeping an eye on the literal asylum inmate.

In other news, last night's password was "capable". This intrigues me because it's the third strip in the past few weeks in which the password was NOT a word that was in the actual strip. I don't know if there was a change in the script or if Willis has caught on to password hunting.

Scratch that last thought; tonight's password is "eye".

What are the passwords for, though? I keep seeing mentions of them -- but me being clueless, I can't parse where you'd use them or what they're for.

>Asking the alcoholic formerly violent depressive to keep an eye on the disassociative serial-killer-waiting-to-happen

No, Dorothy, she needs professional help. Why does nobody in universe seem to recognize this?

Dorothy wants it all to end in fire and blood.

Learning the passwords is useful, because it helps us to understand his strip-naming patterns.

If you can take a date and guess its password, you can access the strip from the buffer, before it even goes on Patreon.

He has all his current strips set up to fully upload on specific dates, so we're sort of accessing that buffer if we can understand his passwords.

We would have no comic then and Willis can't let that happen

Honestly, it wouldn't be difficult to remove Amber from the cast for a while. We could see her on the road to coping with her trauma, while we see how Danny and Ethan are able to flourish without her presence.

>Ruth is conflicted about not being able to threaten people.

HOLY SHIT, WILLIS, WE GET IT. WE FUCKING GET IT ALREADY.

I concur. Like, I know it's good to show that she's working on character development and stuff. But she doesn't have to do it out loud, directly to her residents.

Surely she was told not to remind them of her previous threats.

Oh right, this is still a thing. It still been a ridiculously short and literally impossibly short amount of time for at least HALF of the shit that's been happening to have have actually happen within the allotted time?

Yep. Each IRL year corresponds to just one week in-universe. Comic started 7 years ago.

Amber suddenly starts referring to herself in the third person by 2014, so 4 weeks into the semester.

In 7 weeks, there have been 3 different dads rampaging across campus and multiple sex scandals.

It's chaos and anarchy in Indiana.

Nah, it's not strictly one IRL year per DOA week. That's just an average.

Though yes, it has been seven IRL years of DOA and we're only two to two-and-a-half months into the school semester.

We're in that weird lull between interesting stuff e.g. Toedad's Wild Ride, Carla's insult to Rube Goldberg machines, but I imagine Willis will come up with something stupid for Ruth's grandfather.
All authority is useless in the DoAverse

We're now at the end of the first week in October.

Willis has already shown he's willing to let characters go months between appearances; tossing Amber on the backburner wouldn't be an issue at all.

I still don't care about any of these people.

I think the only real plot I would give a shit about is Sarah's.

And porn

>Everything else os Just detail
>Trying to execute a person

It's too late to keep an eye on you Dorothy. You already affirmed an admitted violent asshole instead of admonishing them at all.

I hope Amber kills Walky thinking that he's Sal and Dorothy has to deal with not acting on her obvious villain speech.

I'm not sure if Dorothy realizes Amber intended to kill him.

She didn't really try to unpack anything that happened, either. She looked absolutely horrified by Amber's actions at the time but as soon as the villain speech came out she became more concerned in making Amber feel better about her results than figuring out what her motivations were or what her mindset was like.

It's similar to how she instantly dropped Amazi-Girl as a possible suspect for beating up Amber's dad when there was witness reports that made it likely that she did it. Rather than dig deep and try to figure out what's really going on she's using easy answers to feel better.

She's fucking up a lot right now.

Dorothy: making everything worse (while still being portrayed sympathetically) since 1866

Dorothy is a fucking terrible journalist.

>She didn't really try to unpack anything that happened, either. She looked absolutely horrified by Amber's actions at the time but as soon as the villain speech came out she became more concerned in making Amber feel better about her results than figuring out what her motivations were or what her mindset was like.
Makes you wonder what she's been learning at therapy.

Odds are it's cognitive behavioural therapy i.e. the kind that doesn't work, but some quacks pretend it does because it's super-cheap

Cognitive behavioral therapy talked me out of a suicide attempt. It works for at least some of us.

Well, now I feel like an asshole... more so than usual, I mean.

Eh. I'm just one guy; I don't know how it works for everyone else. You might be more-or-less right.

I've heard a lot of good things about it. In what ways does it not work?

A lot of CBT techniques are essentially about unlearning bad habits and relearning good ones related to self-assessment and critical thinking at the same time. That can be hard to maintain outside the therapist's office.

Samefag, just adding that it works well along with medication because that helps take the edge off the worst of the bad habits until get rid of them through the CBT techniques.

But DOA has made it clear through Ruth that medication is a -problem-. So I wouldn't expect it to work anytime soon in this comic.

There's quite a few things, so I'll cheat and use Wikipedia

Are we still doing a voiceover? I did some recordings last night

I hope so! I haven't heard back from VA user since I sent some Robin lines to him. Go ahead and e-mail him if you still have the address.

Alright, I sent him an email. I hope we can get this going, because it would
validate (kinda) my poor decision to buy four physical volumes of this shit lmao

Ruthless is pretty much the sole girl in the dorm that could take her and last long enough for the authorities to arrive.

She's declawed now though.

Violent Amber is completely untethered from the limits of human morality. Nice Ruth is struggling to give compromise a chance. She would get destroyed.

The real fight would be Sal "I've never lost ah fight" Walkerton vs Amber "Knife to meat you" O'Malley. But it's kind of impossible to tell who would win. I'd say Amber based on her feats even in a straight up fight and how she's positioned narratively, but if they were real characters it'd probably be Sal winning.

oops, should be:
>based on her feats and how she's positioned narratively, even in a straight up fight

Instead of that flub there.

>She's declawed now
It's not so simple. Violence and rage are as much a part of her as the blood that runs through her veins. She can hide from it now, but put her in a fight, and Ruthless will return.

Though, Sal is probably the best fighter in the cast and could take Amber. Not sure if she's in the dorm.

why do you keep bumping a thread for a webcomic you hate? get a life

It's Sup Forums. We're having fun. Not our fault if you don't like it.

Why did you bump a thread to complain about bumping a thread? If you hadn't said anything, this would be much farther down the page.

>Amber "Knife to meat you" O'Malley
Amber "The Head On The Pike Once Belonged To A Kike" O'Malley?
Amber "A Knife In Your Hand Is Worth Two In Your Ribs" O'Malley?

Amber "I'm Not as Sad when I'm Gutting a Dad" O'Malley?
Amber "I'm on the Lam After Stabbing a Man? O'Malley?
Amber "All My Voices Agree, It's Time to Murder With Glee" O'Malley?
Amber "I Don't Mean To Kid, But I'll Carve Out Your Ribs" O'Malley?
Amber "No Ifs, Ands or Buts, You're Gonna Get Cut" O'Malley?
Amber "Blood for the Blood God" O'Malley?
Amber "Do You Like Huey Lewis and The News?" O'Malley?
