Lads, just finished Evil Dead I and II, and I'll be moving on to III shortly. What's some other essential horror kino?

Return of the Living Dead
Reanimator
Dead Alive (aka Braindead)

Ash vs Evil Dead tv show.

The Last Sacrifice.

the first nightmare on elm street

Ash vs the Evil Dead

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (original)

>Phantasm
>re-Animator
>Hellraiser (the first one, all the sequels are mostly shit)

I know there are some other kinos but I'm feeling pretty brainlet tonight.

This. Legitimately great horror. I watched all the nuversions and sequels and wasn't anticipating very much before watching it though. Very surprised.

I, II, III, IV and New Nightmare are all great. People give II so much shit but it's seriously not bad and the score is phenomenal for horror.

If you haven't already...
Only movie to ever scare me, not sure why. I suppose Mulholland Drive gives me the chills too and I watch a fuck ton of horror.

that laughing scene is fantastic

It's the best blend of horror and comedy in cinéma history tbqh

The Winky's Diner scene is the scariest fucking scene in cinematic history and Mulholland Dr. isn't even a horror movie. When I first saw that scene it actually shook me to my core, I've never been truly "scared" by a scene except that one and I can't explain why.

A Serbian Film

>only it's not night, it's half-night
>you're standing right over there
>I get even more frightened
why does this scare me more than the dumpster guy?

Evil Dead 2013

It's actually the best one imo

Also the part toward the end when Betty (Diane at this point) is downtrodden and staring right into the camera but you don't see who she's looking at for like 6 seconds. Jesus christ it kills me.

Cabin Fever

Fuck off it was garbage.
>B-BUT MUH WAIFU

it's not often a writer nails dream logic so accurately. it's very relatable if you've ever had a nightmare like that.

It has nothing to do with waifus. It was an incredible over-the-top gorefest with great practical effects. It's probably the best American horror movie of the last 20 years

something 1 and 2 do so well is letting a moment build up and keep going without blowing it all on a one scare and moving on. the endless laughter of Ash's possessed friends in the first one is really unnerving and it just goes on and on.

I'll give the remake props for some great effects, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the characters weren't insufferable hipsters, just really really boring and forgettable. I assumed since Diablo Cody was involved the movie was going to be unwatchable right from the start.
the way they did the demons is utter trash though. cheap halloween contact lenses and they all do that overplayed scratchy exorcist voice.

>great practical effects
Like the CGI blood?

are you retarded?
