the axe has been relatively unchanged for 1000s of years, why would it change in the future?
A plasma cutter would take up less space.
an axe doesn't run out of power
But this is relatively a small change. Stronger materials allow for a more ergonomic grip without sacrificing strength and efficacy, which allows a wider swing arc in enclosed spaces.
THE SPACE AXE
Of all the things you could complain about in this movie, you're complaining about the design of a prop that shows up for a grand total of 20 seconds.
The handle is retarded, it throws off the entire balance, reduces grip strength and makes it worse for repeated hitting.
whats with the retarded curve?
This is science fiction. It only needs to look plausibly useful and suspension of disbelief does the rest.
Don't be autistic, please.
>It only needs to look plausibly useful
>suspension of disbelief does the rest.
That's the problem, neither of those things happened.
that's one futuristic looking axe
That sounds like a you problem.
An axe would be extremely useful in an even of a fire breaking out on our wooden fucking space ship :^)
that curved handle would never work on any blunt instrument user. your probably just a weeb neet who never even held a power drill in his hand.
real people have a right to be pissed off by that design. its inane stupid retarded and it goes in the trash
Where did the tiny alien get all the biomass from to grow so big? Or were the writers being retarded in this case too..
I wish we had gotten some background information about the axe. Like when she grabbed the axe, I wish she would've said something like "Ah, the standard-issue unobtanium axe with non-slip handle and ejectable blade. This will do nicely."
But alas, I guess Ridley Scott is just a hack unfit for Hollywood
Thats how axes are shaped now dummy
yeah... but irl No
...
Its exaggerated but most axes have a slight curve
t. Wood heat masterrace
it creates a mechanical advantage
...
That handle is designed that way so the axe head is on a different plane to the swing arc. Helps to get the tip of the blade into something. If you hit something that was hard/dense and the axe head was perfectly flush on impact it would bounce off or make minimal penetration due to the law of force distribution over surface area. If you hit the same object with the tip of the axe head on a slight angle, you'd puncture what you're hitting.
If you want to punch through a sheet of aluminium or something, this is the type of axe you'd want
i know this but not in that angle user
are we looking at the same fucking thing ?
its like its broken
But humans do. If they have the tech to traverse space in a huge ship, I'm sure they have tech better than a fucking ax.
