The project has been going on for a long fucking while, Shmorky probably submitted his part before the chat logs came out.

That was a weird thing to do. Reanimate a lame episode in such a way that 90% of it is people with no style using various wacky crutches and any time a decent animation comes up it's on the screen for only half a second.

Yeah the LOLSORANDOM shit they would shove into their animation kind of ruined it.

These multi-animator projects are real case-studies for what works and what doesn't, and the difference between "drawing" and "animation"

01:00 the drawing quality is shit, but the animation is very creative and expressive, Yoshi's motions match his mood and speech extremely well (MarshMelluh)
01:05 While the drawings are "better", the animation is emotionless and stiff, like dead Sonic X animation. (Gemma Bright)
01:10 the good kind of cheap Flash animation, Luigi gestures and makes facial expressions in a believable way like a human being (RadFeenix)
01:14 the bad kind of cheap Flash animation, nothing moves except the mouth and the eyes a little bit, and the gesture is the Family-Guy-tier upturned palm, no emotions at all. Looks like the animator said "I gotta have him expressing something here, what to do... ah, squint his eyes and use the upturned arm, that always works!" (b33nb33l)

In case anyone's wondering what's the Pixar slow-snap school of emoting.

There are so many to choose from, but I'd say hands-down the worst is the Pixar-style emoting and the static Flash upturned-hand Family-Guy-style emoting. Those are two equal and opposite blights on the cartoon industry today. On the one hand, people who have no idea how emotions look like so they stick to the same one pose, and on the other hand people who have no idea how emotions look like so everything moves slow-fast slow-fast slow-fast like a robot slowly charging up and then quickly discharging, as if emotions and expressions are "pumped out" of the character.

That's quite interesting.

I just follow youtube animators and sometimes they post a clip they did for a collab.

Just noticed even Mario and Luigi have way too much anticipation in that shot. They're supposed to recoil (in shock? surprise? indignation? disgust? fear? who knows, it's generic) when Bowser points at them, but instead of recoiling they do like five frames of anticipation and then two frames of overshoot. At least there's no drawn-out settle. The point about surprise is that it's surprising. There shouldn't be five frames of anticipation before it, maybe one frame or none at all if it's super-sudden.

There's like 15 years worth of him being loopy, but extreme anger issues and obsessively stalking female artists are what he's best known for. It's why he's stuck drawing nintendo fanart on tumblr rather than being a notable animator or comic artist.
