>I can’t answer for anyone else. For a vocal minority, it’s apparently because Rey is a 'Mary Sue', a criticism I believe more often than not is rooted in misogyny and petulance. For others, they hate the diversity in the film. For many, though, their criticisms boil down to one thing.
>The message that Luke accepts and enacts on the battlefield on Crait is a powerful one: realising that some people can't be saved. This is a tragic moment, but it’s also freeing.
that's the most disappointing thing I've read in a while. how could someone think that? what kind of terrible mental state do you have to be in to find freedom in giving up? is this what kind of person you have to be to defend this film?
>He manages to inspire a new generation of Jedi, he manages to stick it to Kylo, and he realizes on the battlefield that some people can’t be saved.
the first two statements are just wrong, and I don't know how someone can type the last part as a good thing.

Literally nobody can ever rebut Rey being a Mary Sue, because she's 100% a textbook Mary Sue. All they can do is try to divert attention away.
Samuel Turner
But killing baby Hitler means that you have the power to time travel and therefore the ability to change the future anyway, thus removing the need to kill a fucking baby.
Eli Butler
>realising that some people can't be saved.
LoL what a retard, Leia was the one who lost hope for her son and Luke gave it back to her, no one is ever really gone. All he realized is that he is not the one to save Kylo.
Samuel Smith
He's a democrat, killing a baby is bonus.
Eli Robinson
It kills me how much Mark is a shill for the Dems. I know he can't help it sense he's surrounded by marxists everyday, but still. His natural place is within conservatism.

Mark has got to be killing himself right now. He loves Luke and the joy the character brought to people. This is just intolerable.

>realising that some people can't be saved. This is a tragic moment, but it’s also freeing.
But it's also freeing? How in the fuck?
>>He manages to inspire a new generation of Jedi
Yes, the question is how you do that when what you did was send your hologram somewhere to delay a guy for 15 minutes and then die. And all that was saved was a small ship worth of people.
Who the fuck is inspired by this? They're going to resist the empire because they used a cheap trick to run away some more, after having their asses handed to them for running away?
Did they even hurt the imperial fleet? I can't tell. Obviously the main ship survived or Rey would be dead too.
Wyatt Phillips
Why would BLM of all groups support gun control?
Cops don't give a fuck about saving people, certainly not nigger lives, but for some reason these idiots still feel they have to tow the party line about gun control when it stands against every other principle they have.

The "kill baby Hitler" scenario has always been fucking stupid. There are millions of other options when you can travel through time. Take baby Hitler with you and raise him as your son. Wisk him off to another point in history where he would find a better chance at happiness, or simply a time that would remove the potential for him coming into political power.
Jordan Baker
Nope, because they still can't believe that the problem with these movies is forced propaganda. It doesn't occur to them, so they'll never understand. They'll just amplify next time.

Sounds as if people are taking this statement a little too literal. It seems as if maybe more likely Hamil was so disappointed in the twist of Luke trying to kill Kylo that he was okay with the character getting killed off completely. I wonder if that didn't get added in because he wanted the character to get retired for good after that.
Jaxon Davis
>still trotting out muh misogyny as a pathetic excuse
Reminder that no one hated Leia, Padme, or Asoka like this. The problem is not strong females in SW, the problem is poorly written ones

Well it sounds like he's saying the character basically got turned into a huge piece of shit and didn't want to do it anymore. He's not saying luke was fucking hitler he's just saying with the character assassination he was becoming a bad character. I thought it was kind of bull shit that luke got killed off but if the actual actor thought it was such a bad twist and it was never going to work out it's probably better they did it. Would explain why leiah didn't die, they probably wanted to save one member from the OT besides chewbacca and droids.

Certainly filling your brain with samey franchise trash, with main characters who are totally unbelievable even in the context of a fantasy space opera with magic powers, is what the wise do.

That is u mad in so many words. Don't know where you came up with the idea I'm mad. I just like to argue. You're the one hurling insults. Your hysterics will not prevail here.
Andrew White
Nah he said he knew Luke died. Before TFA came out Hamil said he only signed up to reprise the role of Luke if the other cast from the original trilogy were doing it. After all that his character attacks a kid in his sleep, like that made luke out as a kiddey didler or some shit, he probably wanted to have his character killed off after that twist. After all those years of being famous for being portraying luke, luke turns into some old creepy child predator. What a waste of a character people looked up to for decades.
Henry Rogers
>u mad as an unironic argument I mean...you did cry that it was propaganda and that everyone who even remotely liked it was a complicit shill for the Disney company. That sounds pretty mad, faggot.

I really dont understand Disney. If they had to cut Luke out entirely from TFA because he was "the elephant in the room" stealing from the other character if kept in, and then when they show him they keep him as a jaded hermit to minimize him, it seem really counter-intuitive.
If what the fans really want is Luke, why didn't they give them what they want and just make the new trilogy around him as the MC? Then in a new trilogy elevate a character like Rey outside of being his sidekick or something.
Connor Moore
Hysterical caps, saying I'm mad when you're screaming REDDIT DRONE at me, cursing me out for not liking the latest Disney product and thinking it's absolute trash made for brainwashing plans is projecting, yes. You are so clearly pissed off and trying to make it sound like I'm the one losing my cool.
Aaron Long
I lost all respect for all journalists that seriously proposed the Russians were responsible for the RT ratings of TLJ. How pathetic and desperate do you have to be to shill for a children's science-fantasy film franchise that was sold out to a multibillion conglomerate?
Elijah Powell
Uh yes it is. Luke was a creepy child predator sneaking into a boys room and trying to assault him in his sleep. One of the few modern good guys that established the entire concept of jedi and the light side got turned into the equivalent of a kiddie diddler.
Connor Ward

Mark was mad af for both TFA and TLJ. JJ gave no fuck about him and disrespected him right on the set and made his beloved character into some hobo on an island running from the fight like coward. After JJ dug the grave for Star Wars, Rian Johnson took a big dump on the grave stone, blurring the "Star Wars" words on the stone with his shit. Luke is now a Marvel-tier joke with sucking big blue milk tiddies. Oh btw, he did not even fight the real fight. He just live streamed from somewhere else.
Mark is retarded his leftist bullshit on Twitter but it is still sad to see his own iconic image eaten by feminism. Mark was fucking vocal about the movie. Look up the comment about Jake Skywalker and how fans should treat TLJ as a normal movie and nothing else. Mark only got back to damage control mode after all the negative reviews hit social media. I think Disney threatened him with the contract. Wait for 2 or 3 more years and we may hear Mark's real thought on the movies. He gonna shit on Disney Star Wars harder than Harrison Ford shits on George Lucas.

so what if I'm mad. A nice childhood franchise turns into a big dumpster fire of feminist propaganda. Thanks Disney. I finally grow out of this shit. Probly the best thing ever. Thanks based Rian.
Carter Bell

Nathaniel Rivera
Claiming ignorance and shutting down, the last refuge of an ideological loser trying desperately to defend propaganda and even more desperately trying to hide their frustration
Julian Ross
I'm convinced Hamil was just talking shit about it to try to get the character killed off. It's the only reason why Ford signed back up on the films was on the agreement they got rid of Han. Should be interesting once Hamils no compete clause in his contract is over. Luke was the only likable character from the originals, he was the character that basically sold everyone on jedi and the force being awesome. Lukes character was pretty much what cemented the whole original trilogy together and made it all popular.
Leo Bell

Why Star Wars has turned into a slap fight of meaningless first world issues? The only thing that really matters is the plot and the characters and if they live up to Original and the Prequel
Honestly, between this and the absurd hate Kylo Ren gets (beyond what a villain should get) is the reason I didn't bother watching the second film. I'm sick of this and of this stupid fanbase
