Not at the moment, the terrorist gains so far have been in areas that the government had just regained itself not so long ago. The weaker part of the siege is through southwest Aleppo and so far there hasn't been much activity over there, most of the attacks have been focused against the Westernmost part of Aleppo

Apparently RuAF is helping them, just not inside the pocket. Now I'm no chief analyst, but it seems to me that they handled the offensive pretty well so far. Nothing of huge value has been lost and I'd argue that they always planned to give away some of the less important suburbs, to slow down the fighting a little while not suffering too heavy losses. That way the battle will be one of attrition, where the SAA has an advantage due to the air support. If even the liveuamap doesn't show huge gains for the rebels, or reports on shit like this, >Islamist suicide bombers burst open the SAA defences in west Aleppo there's probably not that much going on, but slow fronts slowly trying to advance/retreat while inflicting as much damage as possible.

But the Mosul situation and the ISIS men and material going back into Syria means they're kind of caught in a mid point. If they push too hard, isis will be able to find a point to siege somewhere else.
They're kind of caught here with not enough men and material to really take Aleppo properly. Slow and steady is how it has to go now.
The fsa using suicide bombers is good to use as politics just to fuck with the UN too. Better to back away and kill the cornered rats at range instead of allowing them to bite you.

the whole this rebel offensive is important meme is quite funny. all sort of claims are being made - all of them divorced of reality.
If it is even slightly true, then the governement forces are in a stronger position in aleppo than they have ever been. any assault is likely to fail, given the fact that when they were weaker no offensive succeeded.
It's like trump said, Aleppo has already fallen. All we are seeing now is blood theatre, an appeasement of a blood thirsty iron age god. They playing for time, hoping that some external happening saves them. But I think they out of luck. I think soon they will enter the final bleeding phase before finally transmuting to the carrion phase.

Neither syria nor russia are in position to play for time, the west can keep the conflict going indefinitely with relatively little effort and little blowback to the beltway if russians are duped into buying this appeasement bullshit. They'll just drop more supplies and train more moderates and accidentally bomb syrian forces until the syrians, the russians and the iranian will bleed white.
I was referring to the rebels playing for time. they are clearly hoping for ceasefire after ceasefire to get in supplies. and the rebels will run out of bodies at some point. the SAA can replenish at a rate of about 30 - 50 k per annum. the rebels cannot match this replenishment rate. their supplies are cut, their lines are continually shrinking, and they are in the field - no r&r. the rebellion is already finished.
