It's awful. Avoid at all costs.
I always thought it was a meme that gay people and leftists like
>Is this movie a must see?
Not particularly. It's very niche, and best enjoyed in an environment that isn't for everyone. If you like camp and being able to shout and do outrageous things in public, it's worth trying a showing at least once, but if you're the kind of person that would hate that kind of experience, there's no reason to put yourself through it. And don't even bother trying to watch it yourself first, because you'll probably hate it regardless.
Depends how open you are to that type of experience, personally I think it's a must see
How regularly do you say the word "degeneracy" on day-to-day conversations?

It's pretty hilarious if you like cheesy b-movies. It's not meant to be taken seriously.
It is a good indicator to know if you're gonna like it
>If you like camp and being able to shout and do outrageous things in public
Sounds like my kind of movie
Really good if you like ziggy stardust era bowie; electric warrior era t-rex etc. arch glam comedy meant for nyc druggie crowd. not a good movie pursay.
I went to Rocky with my girlfriend and a few of her friends once.
I was so drunk that I barely remember what the movie was about and I think that's the point
Both, desu.
It's a fun campy musical with soft horror and erotic undertones. It became a cult film because it's fun to watch with audiences (though later the party itself became the event and not so much the movie.) You can watch it alone and it holds up
It's pretty good. Wacky and zany with a weirdly unique, dark undertone. The kind of film John Waters wished he could make.
Congrats on getting drunk bro
I like it.
>if you like cheesy b-movies
They Live was a b-movie you know...
Meme
the victoria justice one is better for obvious reasons
It has a fun soundtrack
Basically is this. Theater people adore it because it is degenerate and find it fun to act like a degenerate on stage.
this and phantom of the paradise are both shit
i disliked it, but it might be worth a watch tho, depending on how interested you are on vampire trannies
>prefering a brat from a nickelodeon show to Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon
Are you 13?
>find it fun to act like a degenerate on stage
Well they don't need Rocky Horror for that...There's Oh! Calcutta!
>liking rocky picture horrorshow
no thanks. if i am going to choose one, i will choose the one i can fap to
The Fox version sapped all of the dark, malevolent stuff from the movie/play, and most of the camp that worked. It's a sanitized version made to appeal to Glee-watching teenagers that had about the quality you would expect from a high school play. It's one of the worst things I've ever seen.
>haha user why do you want to stare at pretty ladies rather than buy into a shitty liberal empowerment fantasy
That's my point, Susan Sarandon's hotter in the other version. I think.
?
>middle aged susan sarandon over young victoria justice
um no
The original actually has nudity in it, it's not a shitty made for tv remake from the people who did Glee.
>fapping to soft-core non-nude
WEW
>Depends how open you are to that type of experience, personally I think it's a must see
>Rocky Horror the TV-Y7 version
fuck off
imagine being this retarded
>29
>middle aged
whiter and hotter
...
I'd seen it a lot in my youth basically because it was my sister's favourite movie.
desu I never really thought much about what was going on. I watched it recently as an adult (Seriously, it was on just last week and I watched it drunk off my ass) and the whole thing is patently ridiculous and totally degenerate. Just goes to show all a musical really needs is good or memorable songs to succeed because the story in between each song is just retarded.
I don't think it's in any way essential to see and the soundtrack is better than the film though you probably need the context the dumb story gives each song to appreciate them. Even then if you listen to the lyrics of each song a lot of them are nonsensical and just a mess of words that sound good.
It's super niche. Best to see it with a group of people who are into it.
>the whole thing is patently ridiculous and totally degenerate
Well yeah. The proper watching of this film involves shouting to the screen and dancing like a maniac; it's meant to be campy as fuck.
it's pretty gay
That process was implemented retroactively. The film was pretty much ignored when it came out. Then a year later it gained momentum through the midnight showings were people started doing the stuff you describe.
>The film was pretty much ignored when it came out.
It was the film adaptation of a play that was already popular for encouraging that kind of behavior from its audience. The reason the film didn't do well is because that kind of thing didn't translate to film until people at midnight showings created that atmosphere themselves.
It was a must-go-to experience when it was a midnight movie. It's kinda like what The Room is now, midnight screenings would become their own events with people dressing up, singing and dancing, shouting lines at the screen, etc, Unfortunately the movie itself isn't that great on its own (or so bad it's good like The Room). It's a cool stage show to adapt though. I've seen a production of it that was fan-fucking-tastic. On the other hand, its cool to see a version of the show with most of the original cast (esp. Tim Curry) even if the actual production and aesthetics aren't great.
Yeah, if it comes to your town as a midnight movie I would recommend it. The movie itself is just ok.
