Will we ever get a good WWI movie?

Will we ever get a good WWI movie?

we have a few already but I doubt we will ever get another

Any recs?

all quiet on the western front

All Quiet and Gallipoli are the one two I can think of, tell me more

we're lacking the all afro american squad ww2 movie

also I guess Lawrence of Arabia counts

La Grande Illusion.

Miracle at St. Anna

Besides the obvious?

is it worth getting the Criterion blu ray?

No because there weren't enough blacks or women in the trenches to make a historically accurate politically correct movie that would sell to the masses. For a WWI movie to be made today that would be considered watchable by the masses and sell it would need to be about a squad of black women. See the problem?

just make a movie about the Harlem Hellfighters then
or the fucking Poos that served with the Brits
it's not that hard, it was a World War

Wonder Woman

how did the government convince american kids to travel to france and get btfo?
i don't see what they got out of it

...

true

better question is when will we ever get a movie about the Korean war

>all quiet on the western front

Great movie.

M*A*S*H
The Bridges at Toko-Ri
The Manchurian Candidate(sort of)

J'accuse

The Lost Battalion starring Rick Schroder was pretty good.

I think Beneath Hill 60 is pretty underrated.

The Dawn Patrol (1938)

>it would need to be about a squad of black women

Led by a lesbian white woman who have to go behind enemy lines to save a gay French boy.

Because all movies and TV shows these days MUST have gay and interracial themes and characters. It is a Hollywood rule.

Money and glory

Capitan Conan was recommended to me a while back by an user. Also Uomini Contro

Both pretty dope. They have similar plots/subplots

money and french women?

Thanks man.

check these out

Blue Max is good.

America did fucking nothing in WW1 and there's no clear-cut 'good VS evil' conflict, so Hollywood isn't interested.

Was War Horse any good? I read the book as a kid and saw the stage version, but never got round to the film.

Wrong war retard

Also Pork Chop Hill

there are countries on this planet with a film industry other than the USA

Beneath Hill 60

this

>All Quiet on the Western Front
>not WW1
Are you fucking mental?

>how did the government convince american kids to travel to france and get btfo?
There was a time once when France and the US had solid relations, and many recruits saw going over to fight for France as a way of symbolically repaying France's contribution tot he American Revolution. This was back in the day when Americans knew this history, and threads like this always make me realize how that day is long gone.

This, and not the Borgnine version

So Underrated, one of Kubrick's finest despite being his most straightforward

It always makes me sad that things have become so estranged. I always hope for the best for France.

Check out Westfront 1918. If you liked All Quiet you'll like this.

bleeding out in some trench so the rothschilds can protect their chateau lafite is not my idea of patriotism
what happened to friendly relations with all nations, entangling alliances with none?

Go smoke another reefer, hippie

according to Robert Graves, there were indian, african and pacific islanders present in very small numbers. perhaps you could have them all concentrated in one platoon, which then runs in front of a machine gun and is eliminated entirely. sort of like what happened to most of them.

> also, Blackadder 4
