Now that the dust has settled and now that Mute has seemingly flopped, I think we can all agree that this film was actually pretty alright.

The baby roaring at the end made me feel a genuine excitement that i haven’t felt from a big budget movie in like 15 years.
t. played a Warcraft game once in 1996
I've been a Warcraft fan since 96 or 97 and I really enjoyed the movie.
sd
The CGI and acting were pretty bad
It was a little rushed and hard for people who didn't know much about the property to follow, but it was still pretty good for how low my expectations were.
I wasn't expecting more than a larping experience, so it was better than I thought it'd be. My grandpa really enjoyed it and he hated when I used to play the MMO all day, so it was sort of funny telling him it was based off that game.
I went in with less than zero expectations and I was positively surprised.
Things that worked:
- The action scenes were exciting and well choreographed, there was a well-made contrast between the vanilla humans and the brutish orcs, which worked well.
- The CGI work on the orcs was amazing
Things that didn't work:
The story. I didn't play the first game, only the MMO, but I was a bit of a lore nerd back then and I must admit I had no idea what was going on a lot of the time. The characters mostly felt like exactly what they were: Very elaborate characters that had been haphazardly chopped into a 1,5 hour movie with no introduction.
The acting. Oh boy. I lost a lot of admiration for Ben Foster with this movie.
The timing. This film should have been made 10 years ago.
This movie was pro nigger bullshit. Can't wait till they do Starcraft with Nazi Terrans and Protoss religion of peace
You see a hydralist, a brutalisk and a zergling, I see doctors, teachers and construction workers!
It's one of the worst movies I've seen
nah it was very very plain. its was ok for what it was but nothing more than a 5/10 movie. maybe if you really love the universe.
It was laughably bad.
When your CGI cartoons are better actors than your real actors, you know you fucked up somewhere.
It's good.
As a fan of warcraft and having followed lore of the games, it was pretty shit
>We must go to the Floating City of Dalaran
>Movie takes place during first Orc invasion, Dalaran didnt become floating city until WoW
I found it kind of annoying that Durotan and Orgrim did not kill a single human because they were being set up to be sympathetic good guys.
Even though Orgrim goes on to fucking raze half of the continent.
Fool, the CGI was fucking great, it was one of the few things that was actually great about this movie.
>made for Chinese market from the start
>basically a glorified warlords of Draenor ad, which ended up being delayed so it didn't even line up correctly
>as a result Blizzard wanted all of the WoD characters to be there, including some bullshit foreshadowing no one cares about
>so way too many fucking characters
>muh orc/human symmetry which only exists in wow for gameplay balance
>samwise didier's artstyle is completely incompatible with real actors.
>these fucking asian elves holy fucking shit
>characters teleport from one location to another, so you get no sense of distance or geography
>Stormwind ironforge medivh kadhgar durotan karazhan draenor guldan moroes anduin liane wrynn orgrim blackhand laughing skull garona etc etc etc
>u got all that, non-warcraft player ?
Blizzard CGI has always been GOAT tier. I dont know why they dont just make a movie entirely CGI based.
CGI was best part and better than anything done recently
It's absolute shite.
>CGI is decent, but blending it with live action performance is worse that The Hobbit
>foam cosplay armors
>shitted on Warcraft continuity all along
>too many characters
>le ebin Ragnar ruining everything
The only good thing about that movie was based Ben Foster as the ominous Medivh.
At the end of the day, Warcraft is still a fucking cliche derivative of far greater creations, it's basically the McDonald's of fantasy. Enjoying it in any way is disrespectful towards better authors. Same with StarCraft. Blizzard had the nerve to steal ideas with their both hands and mouthbreathing autists call them their own. And it will be worse because they're going to hamfist more SJW propaganda in inevitable next movies.
Not nearly enough hardcore Orc Elf rape desu
Garona is half orc, half human, but this isn't possible in the movie since the orcs and humans are meeting for the first time. Too big of a plot hole to be overlooked. Garbage movie.
Garona got retconned to be half Orc half Draenei at some point. Warcraft lore has really gone to shit lately.
Went to see this with my wife and kids, me being the only warcraft fan in the family. They all enjoyed it, but had trouble keeping up with the 'weird names' and the jumping back and forth, once I said the jumps were to show what was happening at the same time in each community, it made sense.
Seeing baby Thrall, I got excited. Good flick.
I’m still mad Thrall isn’t warchief anymore and that cunt Sylvanas is leading the horde
Also fuck Metzen for turning him into Jesus too
The second the Dragon aspects were using him to channel earth to replace deathwing, he couldn't be warchief. Garrosh was good, Vol'Jin could have been great, Sylvanas seems to be using the horde as a means to her own end.
I predict the 3 windrunners die in BFA, and when they die, the final expansion of the black empire will be announced.
>following anything in WoW besides classic WoW news and updates
Top pleb
GUL'DAN CHEATS
ITT: “””””villains””””” who did nothing wrong
Fuck you. He enslaved his own people for personal power to a force that would in the end cast him out for no real good reason. He knew the cost of taking the fel, then he took it and he convinced others to do so. Fuck you, Gul'Dan a shit,
Garrosh is the Warchief we need.
Cut out humans, only focus on the orcs, they had te better story, acting, aesthetics.
All the human shit was such a let down unless they were interacting with the orcs
humans were less interesting than the orcs, guldan was the best character and had a very visible set of powers and abilities.
could be fucked about neckbeard khadgar or medivh, im sick of medivh everywhere forever. just did upper kara +21 and i still hate him
Nigga medivh basically outright says he fucked Garronas mom when he was travelling to different worlds
Oh noes, half draenei? it must be really shit because of some retcon that makes sense!
>im sick of medivh everywhere forever. just did upper kara +21 and i still hate him
he was shit there
he's like "You guys kill the boss and I'll break the tower's connection with the Legion"
like, uhhhhh, BITCH, why didn't you break the connection to the Legion before we came here
>Hating on Khadgar
Pleb
>literally can't remember a single detail
It was okay.
Half breed of some race that nobody cares about in that era. The entire point of Garona was her divided loyalties between two warring factions. She picked one, abused the trust the other placed in her due to her human blood, and assassinated the human king, picking a side in dramatic, world-changing fashion. Making her a half-draenei is pointless, it just means she may like Orcs slightly less than other Orcs.
CGI was great as long as it only showed orcs. it turns to complete shit when human characters come up. it looks like someone just pasted the actors' faces into a video game
I feel like the movie is not working as a self-contained, coherent story, just a bunch of scenes WoW players can get exited about.
The Orc part was good, the human part wasn't.
Regardless of Mute, Warcraft was still crap
>playing retail wow in the current year
>Breathing in current year
I havwnt seen the movie cus i playing th game and this means leaving the house
>this means leaving the house
no it doesn't. the only one still going to the cinema are the chinese, get with the times gramps there's movies on the internet
I don't play WOW but I thought this movie was alright once you get used to the CG and past the boring exposition stuff.
>thinking raids were harder in vanilla
they might not have been harder but they were a shitload more fun
bruh....
>Fun
Look at this pleb argument, not even a real one
>fun
nigga how?
>40 people vying for 6 pieces of gear is "fun"
when are they gonna make a movie about /ourorc/?
khadgar actor was pretty fucking terrible
They were mechanically easier, logistically way harder, and they weren't carefully tailored and scripted for balanced groups and specific gear levels. Overall, getting from start to finish in a Vanilla/TBC raid was way harder than modern WoW.
the only thing hard was getting like 20-25 competent people because the game was somewhat new. those raids were designed for like 15 or so people doing sweet fuck all
They weren't designed for anything in particular, that's why they were difficult. Some of them were impossible. Some of them required stacking classes in proportions that didn't realistically exist, some of them required farming entire sets of gear for single mechanics because they were carelessly overtuned. Progression required either massive amounts of consumable farming or massive amounts of RMT. The mechanics were simple, the rotations were retarded simple, but actually getting from start to finish in a new raid was way, way, way harder than it is today.
In a modern WoW raid, if you do your rotation right, know the scripted mechanics, don't stand in the fire, and have the approved gear level, you win the fight by default. You can blow through several new raids in a few days if you're with a committed group of people. It's been that way since Wrath, where all the early Wrath content basically got steamrolled within 48 hours of launch.
>When they cut a scene that makes the film better.
My only real problem with it.
Lord of the Rings>>>>>>>>>>>The Hobbit 1>>>>>>>>>The Hobbit 2+3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Warcraft Movie:The Battle for Uncanny Alterac Valley
>Uncanny Alterac Valley
I have to admit, the joke was worth getting to the end of those >'s
Id say its the best movie based on a video game to date, mainly cause most of those movies are the worst adaptations. But it is a step in the right direction for once. Also only problem I had with the CGI was the shitty lightning at Alterac.
Alterac wasn't in the movie
Fuck no. Duncan Jones has officially established himself as a one hit wonder. Just like Neill Blomkamp
With a better cast it would have been very solid.
>cgi was pretty bad
Because they went cheap on the actors because they wanted to have enough money tell a World of Warcraft story instead of a Warcraft story. They should have paid for a better cast and told the story from the humans perspective with Orcs as monsters. They could have introduced more nuance later on should the movie have been successful enough to warrant a sequel.
The Warcraft canon is a huge fucking mess. Before Warcraft 3, nothing was consistent. After Warcraft 3, nothing was consistent.
This was the best we'd ever get.
The problem with the movie is that it doesn't work with live action humans. Warcraft humans are not earth humans. It looked stupid when they were fighting orcs who were literally 4 or 5 times the mass of each man.
They also fucked up King Llane casting. Not because he was portrayed poorly but because that actor is just fucking trash at everything.
>3 biggest characters are thrall, Arthas and Illidan
>baby thrall only in it for the last 5 seconds
they really know their market.
Should of been Warcraft 3 telling thralls story, telling illidan and the NE's as a prequel and Arthas as well. or doing them all combined over 3 movies, but no, they went with warcraft 1 the game no one cares about.
All of the casting besides Garona was garbage.
>they really know their market.
If they wanted to aim for the current Warcraft market we'd have a trilogy about Sylvanas being a huge cunt. No one except current Warcraft fanboys would watch it and they won't care about any movie that doesn't include Sylvanas.
That's cool that you were able to watch it with your grandpa and he could understand the appeal even through the generation gap. Makes me wish my grandpappy wasnt dead
Would have been ten times better if it were made ten years ago. All movies are terrible post 2009
A bit fun if you have played the games,
but it has this "fake" look over it. Costumes looked weird, environments looked very artificial.
The story ended in a cliff hanger, and that last battle could have been done way better. It was very anti-climatic.
CGI was good at some parts, but in elwynn forest and stranglethorn vale it looked very bad and fake.
I also feel the human were very wimpy. Should have made them way more buffed out, like the orcs.
Fucking stickmen fighting these giant monsters.
5.5/10 movie.
hella great cgi lmao
No it's shit
Too much CGI
Shit Story
Shit director
Shit novel it's based on
Shit everything
Please OP tell me, what is it about this movie that you find even slightly.. redeeming.
are you 12 years old?
Just watch that fight Scene with the Golem an tell me it does not feel like haf of it is missing somehow.
>marveldrone calling any cgi bad
that looks like a painting
Yes I quite enjoyed it, especially the orc parts. Didn't like Garona arc though. Blizzard should have just done it in-house.
t. wow player
No. Mute reminded me of how bad Warcraft was and how much I never wanted to see it again.
Just a completely uninteresting world for cinema.
main character and garona sucked, but I liked Khadgar.
It's one of the worst major release movies of the last 30 years. It's worse than any film Michael Bay has ever made. It's an unmitigated disaster and it should have rightfully been the end to Jones's joke of a career.
It's unironically Uwe Boll tier. If you enjoyed this film you should not be allowed to post on Sup Forums and should be confined to Sup Forums, because you not only have bad taste in films, but you're also a sub-human piece of shit.
The CGI was shit. The whole thing looked like a gay cartoon.
It was even worse than the new King Arthur movie. Duncan Jones should not still be getting work. His dad has been dead for ages. His nepotism account must have run dry by now.
b8?
it was shit
What, it looks good to you?
>it was entertaining
but holy crap was it a bad movie.
i dont even remember much of it. None of the characters really stood out.
the only thing that got me in the feels was the (im not a WoW fan) the Orc turning around and fighting to the death for a different species because he knew it was the right thing to do.
>plot is more or less like any game of thrones type series/movies
i saw this with my friend who is a massive wow fan. he turned up stoned and to this day he swears he absolutely never saw this movie
/thread
Among other shit this is basically the summed up version.
Also
>this was supposed to line up with WoD
Both were fucking disasters holy shit.
Warcraft was a better movie than almost any of the capeshit that has come out in the last 10 years bar nolan's batman, and better than all these starwars sequels.
Prove me wrong.
I unironically liked this movie.
I want to see the Warcraft 2 adaption, and then eventually Arthas.
at least they did the dwarfs justice being cgi tough stoutscreatures and not midges weird looking actors like in the hobbit movie.
>now that the director has proved he has no talent can we agree his worst movie is good
I don't understand this thread.
