I don't think they are thinking of these characters in very realistic terms, and don't see an issue with having Japanese actors play them. They aren't playing white people, they are playing manga characters.

Except AoT and FMA literally star whites and race is a major element in them.

Sure, but in the case of SnK where orientals are a real thing and look totally different the story suffers if everyone is played by asians.

It's a Japanese movie for the Japanese market. They're not going to try to find some white actors fluent in Japanese when they can just cast popular Japanese actors.

The film version of Ghost in the shell, while being painfully mediocre and going against the philosophy of the original, is still leaps and bounds above any of the japshit live action films like aot or FMA.

When i talk about them "getting thier hands on filming it" i mean the japanese film industry getting thier hands on the property, which isnt just automaticlly thiers because the creator of berserk is japanese.

"Live action anime" doesn't mean just things like FMA and AoT, it also includes drama, comedy and romance.

You could be the most nepotist person around but if I would create characters in a certain setting I wouldn't want someone to change everything to fit actors in.
Actors should fit the role, not the other way around.
