No. But she is /ourgirl/. She did a good performance.

Maybe. She's certainly up there with the worst Mary Sues of all time.

Mary Sue:definition. Being perfect with no flaws.
Great mecanic, uses teh force without even having a teacher, defeats a supposedly trained sith, deafets luke, great pilot even though she lived in a desert her entire life with no hint of actually being apilot, physically beautiful, her only defect is that she wants to be part of a family,(which is not really a defect), no visible flaw whatsoever. Having said that I also realize luke has the same flaws. How do you call a male mary sue.

Luke gets his ass kicked repeatedly, to the point where he loses a hand

>Having said that I also realize luke has the same flaws.
You wouldn't think that if you paid attention to the movies when you watched them. Luke is exactly what a character like that is supposed to be. He's specifically NOT a Mary Sue.

That and Kathleen's self insert.
(You)

Luke flew the t16 skyhopper with his friends (shooting womp rats). They were very similar to the x-wing. It's even stated in IV. He took three movies to defeat an old Sith with back problems, spent months on dagobah, was scared, and earnt his friends.

Why ate you so invested in the artistic integrity of a space adventure made to sell toys?

She can do anything without training

because....

She is Protagonist!

Logic that child would not take seriously

*blocks your path*

>WHO YOU CALLIN MARY SUE?

Absolutely. What an awful character.

Yep it is. And it's also the ugliest cunt to be shoehorned into Star Wars. Someone needs to fix its fucking face with a meat mallet.

youtube.com/watch?v=1kmggaXRUKc

>ugly
get your eyes checked user. she is a cutie.

Read the books on all the trials and hardship Luke goods through, especially finding out what it means to be on the path of a Jedi. Luke is no Gary Stu.

Yeah, go ahead and point it towards me with the emitter side.

>autistic slave boy whose job is to fix stuff and whose hobby is riding on hovering deathtraps at extremely high speeds
>his piloting in TPM is too good (even though he had autopilot on with an astromech assisting)
>totally a gary stu u guys

No, Alice from the Resident Evil movies is.
Just fucking Alice.

did u fug her

Like, of all time? Probably. If we had to define the term? Absolutely.

>Is she the biggest Mary Sue?
yes

yeah no

You are incorrect. Total cutie coming through.

every man has his delusions

she needs to be naked in a movie

That's just it. The Last Jedi ruined that for a lot of people. "Star Wars is no longer special." They fucked up bad.

"Daisy" was born a man. So I don't know why you're attracted to her.

youtube.com/watch?v=nHVFm3f2ew0

...

No, she is a beautiful woman. No need to start mean rumours.

she melts my heart

>up there with the worst Mary Sues of all time.

yes but if you say so you are a sexist.

Don't forget that she is automatically best friends with all the Star Wars major characters instantly.

Me too user. Everyone here is nasty to her.

I offer the truth nothing more.

Xer not her. Use correct pronouns.

This pretty much.
>has a bunch of amazing super powers
>is a super secret Umbrella project
>is best friends with all your favorite RE characters
>including the fucking Nemesis.
>knows kung fu and moves like a ninja in a series where all the other characters walk like tanks
>goes unnamed in the entire first movie

What are the arguments AGAINST her being a Mary Sue? Because she ticks all the boxes. The only retort is "you're sexist!"

>Physically beautiful

Not to mention she has her super powers taken away at the beginning of one film and then continues to be the ultimate badass, which includes surviving a plane crashing into a mountain right after she gets turned normie.

Harry Potter is a gary stu.

Everyone likes him except for the bad guys
Things magically just go his way all the time
he's good at magic
Girls are attracted to him
all of his friends aren't as cool as him
every book ends in some sort of victory for him

Only mc from anime can surpass her, so yes

listen here laddy. Stop being mean. She just wants to bring kino to our lives.

...

yes

Examining this costume further it look really, REALLY stupid.

Xe! Xe wants to bring kino into our lives! And Xe wants to, Xe better take acting lessons.

>AYO DAS SEXIST!

Here's the list of people that like rey and/or want her instantly after meeting her:
Leia
Han
Finn
BB ex machina
Poe
Kylo Ren
Snoke
Yoda
The darkside
The lightside

Here's the list of people that don't want/like rey:
Luke, until Yoda tells him that she's the greatest jedi to have ever been

That's the biggest reason she's a mary sue.

No, just a badly written character

>people don't like rey
>how can we convince them she's the greatest thing to have ever existed?
>i know
>we'll compare her to the 2nd most hated character in the universe
>brilliant

>the 2nd most hated character in the universe
Do you have a single fact to back it up?

She is probably the most noteworthy one from a big blockbuster.
The fact that she has absolutely zero motivation or reasoning behind her just make it more apparent

how many people do you know that like young anakin? i suspect most fans hate JarJar more, but I doubt there's anyone else competing for the next spot.

>he's famous but most of the Wizarding World hate or are suspicious of him, especially after TGOF
>He's actually bang average to bad at most areas of magic. He just has a knack for DATDA and flying
>most girls aside from Ginny and Cho avoid him, almost no one else sees him as attractive
>Half-Blood Prince ends with him losing and failing.

the mary-sue angle is one thing but I think I liked the character for different reasons It wouldn't bother me. maybe it's because she has blurry motivation or the fact that she's naive and worldly at the same time.

I can see similarities, there are Gary-Stues and there are 'chosen ones'. They often overlap but at least with HP his specialness is treated as a burden, not everyone likes him and even though he shows some natural abilities, he has to train to gain other skills.

>Ends up being the hero in each book.
>Is only hated because it suits the author to make him so when after all the heroic things he's done it be logical for everyone to love him
>Instantly good at a lot of things like broom riding
>Average skills yet he always seems to win the day
>Girls secretly crave him, but are embarrassed about it
>Is the destined hero of a prophecy

Her acting is good though. She is endearing. why the hostility?

Yes, at least when it comes to history of blockbusters.

>blurry motivation
why does she turn ben down? why does she care about this resistance she's only known for a couple of hours while she was passing through. you'd think a life of being a scavenger that gets attacked by strangers on the daily would allow her to quite easily betray people she doesn't know that well for someone she finally found a connection with.
>or the fact that she's naive and worldly at the same time
she somehow goes through the entire first 2 films teaching every other person she meets about life lessons while showing she doesn't need to learn anything. how can anybody think this is a well written relatable character?

You forgot the most important trait.

>OC character who warps the established universe around herself

TLJ also ends with Leia saying they will all be fine because they have Rey.

I'd agree he isn't a Gary Stu 100%, but he's very close in a lot of ways. Which I didn't mind because Harry Potter is a book for kids. Heroes in children books are very much gary stus and mary sues

What makes Rey bad is that Star Wars is supposed to have some intelligence behind it. ANH was a fun film, but it was amazing or anything. It was sort of ordinary, above average maybe, in its term of story telling. However, ESB took Star Wars made it into this really intelligent and sophisticated franchise. RoTJ sort of road the coat tails of ESB (the film which Lucas didn't have as much input in) and is the reason why the OT is amazing. It's just embarrassing that JJ created a mary sue character in Star Wars which is one the biggest mistakes that starting writers do when they start writing. Mary sue's are great for comedy, but in serious films where characters have to go through trials and tribulations they're out of place. TLJ could have solved Rey's mary sue problem rather easily and I, as someone who like TFA, thought that is what they were going for. Now with TLJ only exacerbating that problem I view TFA as a bad movie.

Rey is a mary sue and the fact that JJ made her that way in TFA shows that he's a hack and a bad writer. Any editor who lets the writer get away with introducing a mary sue or gary stu character should be fired.

No hostility. I just don't like how Xe isn't being truthful about herself. I think Xe should come out of the closet is all.

She has done nothing wrong. Just wanted to make star kino for us. and meanies on the internet have to start malicious lies about her. She's a cutie.

The only arguments you can ever drag out of them are things like "she's too trusting" or "she failed to turn Kylo back to the light side" or "she's upset about her parents leaving". Always things that are actually somebody else's fault, and therefore don't take away from Rey's perfection. And when you point this out, even in a reasonable non-trollish manner, they revert to screeching "sexist!" at you.

>she somehow goes through the entire first 2 films teaching every other person she meets about life lessons while showing she doesn't need to learn anything. how can anybody think this is a well written relatable character?
That's how the people who defend her see themselves (regardless of evidence to the contrary).

Ah yes, the Disney princess character 'flaws'

Being naive, headstrong, too kind or scared (so long as she gets over her fear quickly) are the only 'negative' character attributes they're allowed to have, even though they're not really negative.

Her actions barely mattered in TFA. And she lifted some rocks in TLJ.

I know I've talked to you before about this because you use the same pictures. And for, what I think is the fifth time, Xe is a transgendered person. Show some respect cis gender.

>very first star wars movie ever
>protagonist goes from water farmer to sole survivor and hero of a space battle -- having never been in space or in a battle -- in the span of a few days
>*neckbeard fat claps together in celebration*

>new star wars movies
>protagonist flies a spaceship after a lifetime of being around spaceships
>protagonist is competent and likable after fending for herself on a harsh desert planet for her entire life
>*neckbeard fat jiggles angrily*

The absolute state of star wars ""fans."" Worst people alive right next to far right conspiracy theorist losers. No surprise there's so much overlap.

Just deal with the fact she's a cute woman. Just because you don't think she has the perfect figure it doesn't make her a man.

>protagonist is competent
Rey defeats everyone with ease

As much as I dislike Rowling and her writing skills, and the books are bang average (while the only thing good about the movies is the atmosphere), Harry Potter is far from Mary Sue. He constantly gets beat up, he's not exactly the greatest magic user and most of his victories, as you say, comes from someone helping him (his parents, Dumbledore, Snape, etc.)

*cough* In that universe, maybe. *cough*

Yes.
Please just let Star Wars die already
