Is horror a normie tier genre, Sup Forums? I saw the vvitch and I thought it was pretty good, so I decided to give more horrors a chance. But the movies I saw, they were all shit. Cheap jump scares, dumb characters. Are there any good horror movies, or is it a genre for dumbfuck normie teenagers?

This is actually way creepier than it looked in the original.
There are horror kino and horror soyno
It stops being creepy the moment she says she wants to suck his cock.. then you're just thinking about getting sucked off for the rest of the movie
Some good horrors were made in the 70s when there were still people willing to treat the genre with some dignity and the 80s had some creative SFX guys. After that, horror became cheap and movies like Scream and Scary Movie put a final nail into its coffin as a respected genre.
John Carpenter’s The Thing, Alien
>sci fi movies
Huh. I've actually never seen it. I'm just going by the images I've seen.
Not really. The claymation in the original is way creepier than the realistic depiction in the new.
based quads and classics poster
>sci fi can’t be horror
Also Pandorum, faggot
Sci fi/horror
evil dead is a good trilogy but they are basically comedies
the remake is probably one of the best slashers I have seen in recent years
>Is horror a normie tier genre, Sup Forums?
literally the exact opposite
The exact image in the OP is not claymation in the original.
The problem with horror is it's easy to make a lot of money with a lazy, jump-scare horror film so that's what a lot of studios do.
There are good horrors out there.
remake is so much better than the originals.
2 > remake > army of darkness > 1
I meant in general. The first Evil Dead was just... weird and that made it scarier. The remake is way too cookie cutter.
Every genre has normie tier movies. And if you can't tell the difference, you have shit taste.
pretty much every genre nowadays is normie tier, isn't it?
nobody knows how to write proper comedies so they are all generic schlock. horror movies basically too since they rely on jump scares instead of the good old creepiness factor. action movies have always been normie tier to begin with. don't even get me started on modern sci-fi and fantasy. now I'm not saying there aren't lots of good movies in those genres but the majority is pretty shit. as far as I am concerned, the only non-normie tier genre is drama because retarded writers and directors feel much more comfortable with the genres I mentioned previously.
This
nah the actress is too cute with those big eyes. Slapping some shit on her face doesn't change that
Not really. There are a TON of low budget, weird and esoteric horror movies that most normies would find boring or too weird. Stuff like From Beyond, Puppet Master, Basket Case, Frankenstein Created Woman, I could go on for a while.
I'm immune to "nu-horror".
>Ooh, spooky ghosts! I wonder what it'll do wi-
>*jumpscare*
>Oh? A curse on the land itself? I wonder wha-
>*jumpscare* (optional ghost)
>A monster in the woods? Sure they can take this in an origin-
>*jumpscare*
It's like the entire lexicon of the human knowledge of the concept of "horror" was deleted and replaced with "Five Nights at Freddy's, no controls edition".
Horror is the shit-tier of movie writing.
Think I'm wrong? Read the script of any horror movie out there and it's bland, uninteresting dialogue (maybe with some female-centric first-world problems for our protagonist thrown in for "world-building") and it's broken ONLY by clumsy running, falling over, and jumpscares. usually exclusive to the last 30 minutes of the film.
TL;DR: Horror is dead.
Sci fi setting, horror movie.
kill yourself
Oh, and almost INVARIABLY the sole female survivor cliche.
Bonus points if instead of doing anything they just stare at the rising Sun until any normal persons eyeballs melt while the camera whisks around like the opening sequence from Father Ted.
It's because you're a normie. You gravitate towards low IQ pleb shit made to entice teeny boppers (It, Paranormal Activity, Annabelle, Light's Out, etc) because you're a teeny bopper. But you instinctively avoid quality horror movies because you don't actually want to watch a quality horror movie.
The Innkeepers spooked me
I haven't been remotely interested in a horror movie since 2002
what are some movies that would REALLY spook you?
Shad should do an Exorcist hentai.

Why do redditors hate jumpscares so much? Is it because it makes them drop the bottles of soylent put of their fatty hands?
Why do you love jumpscares? You likey when big scary go "BOO!"? Could I incapacitate you by jingling keys in your face?
is he gay or something?
Jumpscares aren't scary and they're cheap.
They're just startling and largely used in place of being able to write something scary.
>Wicker Man (original)
garbage
Probably because they're scary. This is also why they will label anything scary happening in a horror movie a jumpscare so they can dismiss it as "cheap".
The only frightening thing in this thread.
her clean white part of her eye ruins it for me. its so fucking clean.
Horror and comedy are the most dificult genres, you can make them very cheap but to make a great movie of the genre is really dificult
The oposite of drama for example wich is the easiest genre cause you just need someone crying to make the critics praise it
damn right
