Honestly if you still cared about the oscars, this should be the final straw
If you managed to stomach kings speech winning not only best picture but also set design
Moonlight winning
And suicide squad
This should be it
Not even a costume design nomination
The academy awards were never good. Now youre just aware of it.

Why are there so few nominations for costume design anyway? It's not like there's a shortage of worthy films.

Because of Casey Affleck

Accurate

I turned this movie off when I had to sit and watch a girl eat a pie on the floor for 10 min

>not masturbating during this scene
How did so many people miss the point?

Probably this more than anything, also it didn’t have a huge studio behind it

I think it's because its one of the most objective. A bad costume will look bad no matter what the context behind it is. The academy doesnt like objectivity.
They chose bad movies for best picture because they "represent an era" and they pick bad performances because they feel the actors career not the performance warranted an award. See leo.

because this movie was garbage, only the first 20 minutes are decent

Academy awards arent about a movie being good
Suicide squad got best costume design
King speech got best set design
Youre missing the point pleb

what category would you nominate this movie in? it has nothing remarkable

ITT: Foreign shows that got American remakes

>it has nothing remarkable
youtube.com/watch?v=eriaf_mlxFA

Bullshit it doesn't.

Because it was mostly independently funded and that means it didn't bring the Hollywood industry any money.

Fuck I fucked up

I was confused for a minute.

>no Good Time nominations
Why live

Didn't stop manchester by the sea

So did Hollywood fund Moonlight or is that an exception?

now this is a real snub

That was before the MeToo/TimesUp movement. Now that they've started taking women seriously Casey Affleck can't get away with the same stuff.

How many of the foreign language film nominees were funded by Hollywood?

>*sits down*
WHOA
>*eats pie*
SO VISCERAL
>*pukes pie*
RAW EMOTION. IVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A RAW DEPICTION OF GRIEF BEFORE

It at least deserved a nomination for its soundtrack. Best film soundtrack I've heard in years.

Side note, anyone have a download link to that soundtrack? It's not on YouTube because apparently OPN is stingy.

Doesn't hold up as a full length movie ? Would have easily won best "short"

>Not even a costume design nomination
lel

How many of the foreign language film nominees win Oscars?

The winner is ALWAYS the Disney film. Ever noticed that? Always.

Best costume design.
Best picture.

I laughed too because it's just a sheet but you'd be surprised how much work went into it.
>Affleck's costume was more difficult to deal with than Lowery was prepared for. At first the team attempted to simply use a normal bed sheet. They soon found that even a king sized sheet would not fully cover a grown adult male.[11] The final costume required Affleck to wear other garments in addition to the normal fabric.[11] The team also found they had to resort to some "puppeteering" to keep the eyes in place.[11] Beyond the practical constraints of the costume, Lowery also found the simple costume impeded on Affleck's ability to act, noting "every unique physical trait as a human being was pronounced and exaggerated by this sheet over his head." This did not give Lowery the results he wanted. Lowery eventually solved this problem by reducing the amount of movement so that "it became a matter of patience and posture and moving very specifically, slowly and rigidly."[11] Some shots of the ghost, specifically those done during pickups or reshoots, do not use Affleck at all, instead replacing him with the film's art director, David Pink, who was found to have a similar build.[12]

Also this says Kesha was in the film and I don't remember that. When does she appear?

In the house party when the dude does magic tricks he does them for her.

It's not a leling matter. The costumes were actually brilliant. Something doesn't need to be overly complex in order to be good.

Because mediocre indymovie

What does Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have to do with this?

Huh. So it WAS Casey under those sheets the entire time? I wasn't sure if they just used an extra/a double for that

Indeed Hollywood is artistically bankrupt, and rewards the works of pretenders and plagiarists...but in degeneracy, they truly outdo themselves; Especially the homosexuals.

In this day in age, when crimes against God are common, nay, encouraged, where homosexuals are allowed to marry openly within the walls of a Church, in front of God and everyone, unopposed and with impunity, my heart sinks with disgust at my very existence among such abominations of the soul. We must continue to pray for a Savior, to come and strike the homosexuals down for their crimes...indeed, I have a solution: we should send them all, the gays I mean, to a remote island with random weapons strewn about the premises, and watch for sport as they kill each other to be the sole survivor: whose reward shall be death.
Alternatively we could gas them all. Either way, it would be only in the service of God.

Shut the actual fuck up.

They get kickbacks from them and Hollywood elite have a lot of connections in the foreign film market
No but it caused controversy and got them attention which translates to $$$

Ah yes... What have we here, a buggerer of men? A dandy of the field? You disgust me. *spits*
