Annihilation

can we just talk about how the score was for this movie? I was completely mesmerized during THAT scene, and it was largely in part due to the music. I know some people had problems with the little bayou guitar interludes, but I didn't think they were bad

how good the score was*, accidentally a word

I enjoyed it the movie; it was proper sci-fi. I'm a bit mixed about the ending, but it didn't follow the standard sci-fi tropes which I give it credit for.

>it didn't follow the standard sci-fi tropes
I agree, EXCEPT for the fact that it still had (((high IQ, highly trained scientists))) making retarded decisions - just like in Prometheus

Well they were all selected not just for their expertise but for all their personal/emotional problems meaning they were expendable/willing to take on a suicide mission. Other than not wearing HAZMAT or other protection equipment, it didn't bother me too much.

My biggest disappointment was in the ending. It was pretty good for what it was but how predictable and typical of hollywood is it to have a physical altercation ending in an explosion as the climax? And it wasn't really necessary for the plot.

I just hate that no matter how high-concept, different and interesting the rest of the movie, every hollywood sci fi can be guaranteed to ending with a big fight and settling of differences on the basis of physicality and dexterity. Film is capable of much more variety than that, as past movies and non-Hollywood sci fi demonstrate.

This scene was fucking great. Hypnotic. It’s beyond just the visuals and the music, too. It might be a better representation of “infinite and unknowable” than even Kubrick managed.

That’s not dissing Kubrick. It’s complimenting the film.

Stop posting a spoiler image you fucking retard

>mfw during the lighthouse scene

Why are you spoiling that scene?
