I make my living grinding at the local casinos. and Ive got a theory as to what makes a good poker player.
This morning on pol, i scored an 8 out of 80 on the social empathy test. I scored a 33 out of 36 on the Reading the mind in the eyes test. questionwritertracker com/quiz/61/Z4MK3TKB.html
my theory is that low social empathy and high facial reading ability leads to good poker players. They have the ability to not fall for the social cues or bluffs conciously displayed by the opponent, but yet can still read all the unconcious tells given off in the persons slighest expressions.
prove me wrong.

i posted here because there were threads about these psych tests earlier that reached the bump limit

>prove me wrong. You're the first person I've seen use this after backing up their assertion with reasoning.
I play poker and you seem like a thoughtful person, but this doesn't belong on the board so I'm gonna sage.

How much do you make a week. Ive always wanted to try this

>Prove me wrong
There's no longtitudinal study.
You're anecdotal evidence.
I hypothesise that ability with bodylangauge is probably the only relevant factor.
Cooper Watson
game and limits played?
Jordan Foster
thats probably a better hypothesis. im just trying to justify me being a sociopath and only scoring an 8 out of 80.
Ian Powell
>2 , 7 hand that is not worth playing for sure.
Hunter Sanders
>Prove me wrong ? Why ? It seems absolutely plausible but nothing that shocking either >Wow you need to have a good poker face, be level headed and be able to read emotions proficiently That's pretty much what everyone would expect of a good poker player.
Christopher Reyes
There's no justification as such.
Being a sociopath simply just is.
The only thing that matters is ability and will to power.

implying that the sharks arent playing 6 tables online when not at the casino
Jason Lewis
I used to grind. I also fit that personality type. how do you think this translates into online play?
Cameron Walker
>implying live "sharks" wouldn't get crushed online
Connor Adams
they get use a lot more information to come to their conclusions. sure give you more chances of being tricked, but ill always take more information over less.
Connor Watson
what you are implying is that people who play online dont play live.
you are wrong. those of us who play online move to live because its easier to target weak players and actually make a living.
its ok, i know u installed pokerstars once so u think you are "an online shark"
Blake Brown
i think with online play you might as well be flipping a coin. you can be succesful on the dirt cheap tables but not near as succesful as playing the same IRL but adding in the body language factor.
Luis Wilson
yea, not sure what kind of answer i was expecting. I stopped mainly because live wasn't possible for me anymore, and living by the math in the online games is just demoralizing.
John Miller
Dude. If you're grinding $1 $2 at the casino it has nothing to do with empathy or face reading. It's just simple disciplined abc poker, understanding ranges, making good value bets, playing in position ext... stop acting like you're Negreanu with your weak ass poker philosophy
