The ONLY way Christianity can withstand the coming/ongoing Islamic invasion and the rising nationalist reaction is if it ditches the universalist and Jewish elements and instead adopts a core backbone that can exist in a secular environment and be diversified for a myriad of countries. Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Platonism, Stoicism, all of these put forth a set of doctrines to achieve some end. Who made these doctrines is irrelevant; Confucius still could never have existed and that would not invalidate Confucianism.
Christianity as it stands is dependent on a myriad of supernatural beings existing and historical events occurring. Many of those historical events did not happen and there is no good evidence for the supernatural. If Yahweh doesn't exist to send you to hell there's no use in not sinning, essentially. Buddhism can say "Okay well reincarnation doesn't happen but it still makes you happy, see, look at these neurological studies :^)". Christianity can't do that.
