>Deathstroke, which Priest helped relaunch as part of Rebirth, was nominated for an Eisner this year and has won fans and critical acclaim with thought-provoking stories like the standalone “Chicago” and the current “Defiance” storyline, which finds Slade Wilson seemingly turning over a new leaf.
>“In my initial Deathstroke conversation with Geoff, I suggested that, since we were reimagining Slade Wilson's adventures, why not shape the new book more like what a Deathstroke feature or TV series might look like?” explains Priest. “It is my intent to bring that same sensibility to Justice League, taking a hard “what if these characters actually existed in the real world?” look and working in an area of the series premise that is less frequently tapped.”
>That involves asking some hard and potentially redefining questions about the League itself.
>“Is the Justice League still relevant?” Priest asks. “What are their goals and how do we define them? In the ‘real’ world, how would various societies around the globe view this pantheon of godlike beings?”
>While Priest promises that the world’s greatest super hero team will continue to see plenty of action after he climbs aboard, he’s also particularly interested in look at the dynamics within the team. After all, with such a diverse, different group of heroes working together in highly charged situations, there are bound to be some fireworks.
>“My goal is to treat the Justice League more like a workplace drama,” he reveals. “Although we will, of course, still have world threats, nasty villains (including Deathstroke!), and alien armadas, the League's greater challenge will be to define their place in this new and increasingly cynical age.”
>But don’t worry, Justice League will still have plenty of lighter moments.
>“Spoiler: In issue #1, Aquaman is driving a bus,” promises Priest. “That's all you really need to know.”
>“I’m going to be bringing everything I have to this book,” concludes Woods. “It’s gonna be a fun ride! I love these characters.”

Nice, but I hope this doesn't mean Deathstroke is getting canceled or a different writer.
Priest deserves it.
Justin Hughes
>PRIEST HOLY SHIT

Solicits say that a new arc for Deathstroke is starting in December as well.
Cooper Murphy
>JL as a workplace drama >focus on character dynamics Huh. This is, no joke, exactly what I've wanted out of Justice League, and the lack of this is why I never really pick it up. Well shit, I'm down.
I'll be most interested to see how Priest handles Wondy. I don't think he's ever been anywhere near Diana.
William Edwards
Finally! I was hoping Priest would get another title and this seems like it's gonna be good
Matthew Powell
He did a one-shot and a three-shot way back when. I've read the one-shot, but it's a weird time travel thing, so I didn't like it too much. The three-shot had some controversy, but I've never read it - just Priest's long essay responding to the controversy.
Juan Cox
Great job, Priest, you deserve a major book
hope editorial don't fuck him over with stupid mandates
Robert Nelson
Priest is an overrated self hating nigger but it can't be worse than Hitch's Justice League and I like Pete Woods. Picked up for first arc.
Jose Perez
>workplace drama Seriously? This is what you wanted? Are you one of JLI memer or something?
Dylan Allen
Edgy.
Isaiah Ward
/ourguy/ made it to the main event boys!
Gavin Williams
well memed you goyim cuck
Juan Howard
Man, you just want that pullquote for Priest's blog again, don't you?
Not him, but I like character relationships and development before "wacky world saving."
William Howard
Editorial is gonna make it shit, I know it.
Benjamin Bell
I would love wacky world saving. But what we actually just got was 30 issues of boring destruction porn and uncreative time travel stories.
Justin Johnson
>tfw at this rate Priest will write Batman one day and you will witness the 180 of Sup Forums and memes like "he was never any good fag" Feels hype desu, can't wait for that day.
Hunter James
After all these years, Justice League will finally be good again.
Levi Garcia
If Priest gets Batman, I will be beyond hype.
Isaiah Baker
Holy shit, will this be the best Justice League since Joe Kelly?
Jeremiah Thomas
No, it just always made sense to me to do it that way. The League aren't really friends for the most part, they just have a mutual interest. Thing is, unless you play up their differences, they're not that interesting to read about together, and you're better off reading their individual series.
>Not him, but I like character relationships and development before "wacky world saving." Also this. Superheroes save the day as a matter of course. Heroics in and of themselves are not that entertaining unless you give a shit about the heroes as people.
Evan Reed
Probably, although the competition won't make that a very impressive title.
Jose Turner
>PETE WOODS

Evan Murphy
Well said, user. I want to be invested in these characters and why they spend time together.
Tyler Collins
I'm down it sound good but I hope Priest doesn't go too far with the whole what if this happened in the real world thing it works pretty good for deathstroke but I don't know if it'll work well with the JL plus I always thought the dc earth was bassist supposed to be a better version of our world instead of a carbon copy with superheros
Angel Sanders
What's wrong with Pete Woods? He was great on Robin and Action Comics.
Jason Powell
>“Spoiler: In issue #1, Aquaman is driving a bus,” promises Priest. “That's all you really need to know.”
Alright, you got me
Jason Gomez
Doesn't he ship Arthur and Diana?
Henry Russell
>“Is the Justice League still relevant?” Priest asks. “What are their goals and how do we define them?" Someone needs to ask this about the Titans. That franchise is so shit.
Jose Rodriguez
Batfags are going to be so butthurt
Joseph Mitchell
Not him, but I agree. The plots should be solid too, but the draw of a team book is the character interactions. Wasn't much of a fan of JLI though.
Tyler Long
Morrison did best in renaissance, emphasis was on cool shit first and character interactions were in betweeners and though Kelly wanted to focus on characters more, it wasn't obtrusive like in JLI. Hopefully Priest is somewhere around Morrison/Kelly instead of JLI tier soap opera shit.
Gabriel Martinez
He also drew Legion Lost, which was an underrated fun romp from New 52 era.
Mason Hughes
I wish DC would kill the Titans franchise already.
Wyatt Hill
Too much hyperbole here, LL was good before Nicieza left then it went to shit. Woods was good on it though. Honestly I've never seen him draw poorly, so I don't get that user's complaint.
Jordan Adams
OH YES
Brody Stewart
>a sleep-deprived Batman makes a crucial error that causes an unthinkable—and potentially unforgivable—tragedy.
Wow
James Watson
Put me in the screencap, Priest! >I pray erry day

Connor Morales
>what if these characters actually existed in the real world?
Writers have been doing that since the late 80s, can we please just STOP
>mfw I remember what happened to the last black man that wrote the main JL book
Adrian Walker
If you're referring to King, the reaction to his run on Batman shouldn't be a shocker. He's never done a comic longer than 12 issues and this is a title he's got to shit out twice a month. I have no doubt Tom King could write a great Batman story, but brevity has always suited him better.
Oliver Miller
I hope not. I do want to see Riana and Arthur hanging out more, but not through shipping nonsense, not unless there's a foursome in the cards.
Legion Lost was pretty pedestrian at best. Yeah, the characters were on point, but the plot was fairly dull, and the post-Culling stuff was hilariously fucktarded.
DC, please, for the love of all that is precious, stop trying to make Monarch a thing.
Cooper Hill
Hell, his Elmer Fudd thing was a great Batman story, and that was a oneshot.
Wyatt Williams
Based Priest.
Lets hope they don't screw him over like McDuffie, and Sup Forums doesn't end up killing him.
Logan Campbell
It's more "he was always shit user" thing that irks me, happened with Snyder as well.
Luis Brown
>>“Spoiler: In issue #1, Aquaman is driving a bus,” promises Priest. “That's all you really need to know.” So Aquaman will be Priest's self insert?
Camden Johnson
Omega Men was good, Vision was entertaining, Mister Miracle is a fucking mess.
Cooper Harris
>DC, please, for the love of all that is precious, stop trying to make Monarch a thing.
Isn't that why they're using Dr Blue Dick instead now?
Joshua Lopez
So I guess the league lineup is still the same as before? darn
Lucas Miller
Is this because Priest is a nigger? Are you trying to be racist?
James Green
After 5 years or so of Johns and Hitch and every threat being the biggest I'll take a chracter drama
If somehow against all odds Priest turns in a boring book then he'll be off it after 6 months
Joshua Jackson
>plus I always thought the dc earth was bassist supposed to be a better version of our world instead of a carbon copy with superheros This is a retarded meme along with >DC is gods as men and Marvel is men as gods DC has been less retarded than Marvel but there have always been shit like hate groups and reflections of modern day politics. Lex Luthor is a war profiteer or corrupt billionare for fucks sake, Supes took on the KKK, Diana is steeped in feminism and bondage, etc.
Gavin Cook
>h Priest h that makes my happyyyy...
Carter Long
I thought he actually was a bus driver at one point in his life?
Connor Rogers
Oh yeah, I remember the reaction to "Black Mirror" and the excitement when he was announced to be the main Batman writer in the New 52. Maybe it's a case of high expectations for core titles, maybe editorial gets in the way, who knows? All I know is if I ever become a writer, I'd stick to C-listers. The bar's a lot lower.
Easton Hall
casual detected, please fuck off
Camden Ross
>He doesn't know what Priest does in his spare time
Jacob Long
Best news of today so far
Adam Smith
After Doomsday Clock is when you will see status quo changes
Gabriel Hall
He was a bus driver that made it into comics, friendo.
Jayden Young
>So Aquaman will be Priest's self insert? Hopefully there will be a full 8 page sequence of Aquaman having aquatic seksu with Mera.
Dylan Morales
>I'll be most interested to see how Priest handles Wondy. I don't think he's ever been anywhere near Diana. Priest's Wonder Woman stories include one where Aquaman unsuccessfully tried to hide his erection from her and another where the leader of a country pulled an Indecent Proposal on her, saying he'd make peace with the country he was warring with if she'd sleep with him.
Colton Rivera
> based mad man priest finally gets the big JL book he rightfully deserves > will have less creative freedom b/c MUH SYNERGY and johns this is a true monkey's paw
Ryan Mitchell
Shitposts on his blog about Sup Forums not appreciating his retarded crossover?
Nathan Wood
>if she'd sleep with him. Did she?
Robert Hughes
i like his damian . i will buy it..finally a book without a tumblr writer.
Juan Peterson
I was honestly worried that DC going to waste Priest on Nighwing. Glad that they give him JL instead.
Now, I can't wait for the new JL run.
Jace Cook
It seems like people only like the Batman that they grew up with. Writing Batman seems to be a curse, like writing X-men
Jordan Sullivan
DAMIFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG
William Campbell
She's not causing trouble right now. No need to identify her.
Joseph Mitchell
Just a kiss. Rules-lawyering it a bit since the terms were "one night with me", nothing in there about sex. Here's what he wrote about it digitalpriest.com/legacy/comics/372637/ww.htm
James Williams
>She Stop this meme REEEEEEEEE
Joshua Hughes
... So, he's got a case of Claremont-esquse waifuism towards her? Hm.
Robert Rivera
Damifag claims to be an Arab girl living in Germany, might as well take her at her word.
Joseph Sanchez
Seconded.
Liam Wright
Priest doesn't like Dick so he probably wouldn't accept it if they offered.
Landon Turner
>Priest doesn't like Dick Based.
Austin Russell
Notice how DC didn't find it necessary to fabricate an empty line-wide initiative out of the game of musical chairs with creators. And they kept the numbering going.
Isaiah Sullivan
Eh, not exactly. >I confess I have not read any of Phil Jimenez's work on the book, although the book gets rave reviews. I wasn't a big fan of George Perez' WW either, which I realize is heresy to a great many WW fans, but there ya go. I couldn't relate to white women in tiaras talking Big Talk and having exotic conflicts over exotic dangers. I mean, what did any of that have to do with me? On the other hand, I didn't want to read about Wonder Woman serving up burritos at Taco Whiz, either. >The fact is, nobody has had a consistently winning vision for the character in a long time. Any real vision for the book has to be filtered through DC's legal and merchandising team, so it's not like I could turn her into Queen Of The Bitches or anything. The last time I remember enjoying the book was when Denny O'Neil, Mike Sekowsky and Larry Hama (editor) took her powers away, killed Steve Trevor, and dressed her in miniskirts and go-go boots. Denny is just a genius. And he wasn't particularly fond of the I-Ching era. But it was daring. It had an idea, a way to make all of this dusty Greek mythology relevant to Joe Lunchbox. There's enough in there to make every Dianafag ree. I think he's just acknowledging that she's incredibly attractive so of course everyone's physically attracted to her.
Levi Long
I AM :) I'm a fan of Deathstroke...i will LOVE his BATMAN:...
Ryan Williams
I am very excited and slightly worried. JL has been shit so far, so Priest will definitely be an improvement and focusing on the team dynamics and potential drama from that is both intriguing and thought-provoking, but I fear heroics will be brought to a halt and some characters will be made the bitches of others. Mostly I'm worried that he'll drop deathstroke. Prieststroke is my top book so far.
But overall this is a plus.
Hunter Jackson
>all these people baitposting to get Priest to quote them in his blog
Liam Evans
go away company stooge.
Bentley Ortiz
>Mostly I'm worried that he'll drop deathstroke.
That would make me drop all DC monthlies. No point when the best is gone.
Julian Roberts
That Dr. Light reminds me: we're more than likely going to see more of Priest's Guild of Calamitous Intent-esque Secret Society of Supervillains here.
HYPE
Matthew Fisher
I wanted him to write Batman. JL seems to be getting a movie soon and Priest will be forced by Johns and higher ups to go for synergy. Johns is already involved in this, so that's a big red flag.
Brandon Murphy
Could be cool. I'm interested.
Dylan Anderson
As said in the OP, Johns was involved in his Deathstroke, too.
Sebastian Jenkins
I'm an unironic white nationalist and I like Christopher Priest fuck you.
Zachary Allen

The leaked solicitation is: "The Fall of Slade" part one! Finally convinced that their leader is missing, Team Defiance begins the search for Deathstroke only to discover his situation is even more dire than expected. Meanwhile, Deathstroke-after being kidnapped by the Secret Society of Super-Villains-finds his past catching up with him when his former friend and ally Dr. Ikon confronts the repentant killer while repressing his own uncontrollable rage.
so YES WE ARE
Landon Long
But wouldn't that be a good chance to revitalize the character and make him good?
Owen Ward
Like he would have more freedom on Batman. The bat office is pretty controlling.
Evan Kelly
>Johns is already involved in this, so that's a big red flag.
Johns is involved in all of Rebirth. This is a dumb thing to be concerned about when clearly there is no New Gods story on the horizon and the roster is completely different from the movie one. You should be concerned with the general DC fuckery that tends to happen with JL, not anything specific to Johns or movie synergy.
David Torres
No because it sounded like he hasn't really read much about the character and doesn't care to.
Jack Turner
>Johns is already involved in this, so that's a big red flag. Ah, I see you can't read. Well, that's an unfortunate disability to have when it comes to a medium where reading is essential.
