All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics. I'll be focusing mostly on pre-Ennis era material, but there will almost definitely be some Ennis era stuff at some point. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Earlier this week I storytimed The Punisher's team-up with Ghost Rider and Daredevil, along with the return of his dog, Max (all of which you can read in this thread: ). Both were part of Chuck Dixon's lengthy run on The Punisher War Journal.
Today we'll be returning to a book we haven't read in a while now, the original Punisher ongoing. Last time we checked in on this title it was to read the Abnett & Lanning run, which covered a lengthy arc entitled "Eurohit" as well as some other random issues, featring cool characters such as The Bear and the living personification of Sup Forums that is Recoil (#64-75, all of which are linked below incase you want to check them out).
After their run ended there was a short period where The Punisher ongoing didn't really have any "head writer(s)" and they just kind of had different people write each new arc for a while.
Immediately following the DnA run (and first up for today's storytime) was the return of Mike Baron, who of course had written the bulk of the series' 1st 5 years.
Immediately following that is a really cool survival story about The Punisher stranded in the Alaskan wilderness. It features Frank vs. a fucking grizzly bear, which is worth the price of admission alone.
