I Laika it

Forgot the link.

Man, Kubo had a lot of great posters and they chose NONE of them to sell.

Laika crossover special when?

That's a pretty sweet figurine. Not going to pay $100 for it though. I wish they'd make something budget-tier.

Getting the artbook, it it's there next week.

And all interest is gone...

>No Courtney to hot glue
Call me when she is for sale

The quality of their movies is directly proportional to the amount of ghosts

That's a boy?

Coraline model bois!!

Ha, gay!!!

At least I finally have a Kubo to hot glue.

Surprised that Kubo is the only figure they have to sell, apart from the Coraline doll. I would have really loved a Paranorman and Coraline figure.
Hopefully they branch out to more characters if this is successful .

...nope

It's Laika. It won't be financially successful.

Yes.

that's actually a pretty cool shirt

>implying that matters
It's a Nike subsidiary, it can bomb as hard as it can and it won't flinch.

I'm down to buy all their vinyls, but this has got me thinking; wasn't there a song from ParaNorman that can never be released? What was the deal with that?

IT'S 2017. IT'S OKAY TO BE GAY.

Is it okay for me to draw art of Eggs, Norman, and Kubo fucking eachother while Coraline watches?

>no Norman figure
>no Eggs figure
I'm almost tempted to make my own. It'd be a lot cheaper but I'm not confident in my modeling skills.

>kUbo porn
YES ANYTHING AT THIS POINT WHY IS THERE SO LITTLE FUCKING PORN HE IS THE PERFECT COMBO OF ADORABLE AND PLUCKY. FUCKING TRAP FAGS WANTING VULNERABLE LITTLE GIRLS WITH DICKS

he's too pure

More like, why is there also no much porn of Norman?

I mean, outside of Parapines stuff

Bump

Give it time. They announced at SDCC that they are working on making more merch, including puppet replicas.

The only Laika thing I've seen is ParaNorman, but I absolutely love it.

Damn, almost all of the vinyl is sold out.

nah, coraline is better than kubo

How many ghosts did Kubo have?

Didn't Kubo only have two ghosts with the parents at the end? I don't think Grandpa in the dream counts.

Paranorman - Tons
Coraline - Three
Kubo - Two
Boxtrolls - None

actually rainbow colors represent diversity, not homosexuality.

it's just gays are more vocal.

I hate seeing this from companies and I love fucking men. It's just so lame when theyre doing it to make money and show how tolerant they are. Congrats you dont want to murder me, stone me or send me to hell... That's supposed to make me feel good? They're just good people who are misguided and want sheckles like everyone else so I can't be too mad but they're storytellers they can do better and more sincere things. Make a movie about being gay in the 20's or some shit idk.

Norman is so cute! SO CUTE!

The old Coraline in raincoat is getting a reissue next month but iits a retail release sold everywhere

There were all the ghosts of the village people's loved ones too.

I thought it represented a closet brony.

That's a problem with their movies because movies need wide appeal. A small but devoted fanbase isn't enough to make a film profitable.

That doesn't apply to the merch market. Japan's whole animation business model is built around selling figurines to a tiny handful of crazy people with loads of cash.

Nike money is backing them. They could probably go on forever just churning out Travis Knight's passion projects and racking up the accolades.

>Can't wear anything with rainbows anymore without everyone thinking it's about gays
FUCKING WHY

those shoes based on the movies sold out fast.

It's our symbol now bitches

You could always try stealing something from the gays.

Neither Paranorman nor Kubo had functional humor. Whoever was writing those scripts is a completely unfunny person I wouldn't like to be trapped in a room with. Kubo's ending is complete garbage.

However, Coraline is so freaking good, I don't care for the book.

aww I wanted the entire Coraline set we never got.

Gays wear it better, not gonna lie

While financial failure isn't going to stop Laika I'm sure they'd like to at least be breaking even and not require constant checks from Travis's daddy to keep the lights on.
Besides, the argument wasn't that Laika NEEDS to make money from selling figures, but that they could. It's not as doomed to failure as their movies because figures are inherently niche.

Coraline display lacks something and i dont know what it is

It's the exact same as the SDCC release.

>Laika's next film was scheduled for release April 2018
>7 months away and still no teaser poster
Is the date going to get pushed back?

I hope they got different writers on that one.

why? what's wrong with current ones?

...

>terrible design choice for the mugs
>no puppet replicas
>no cool posters
>b-but we have a gay pride shirt!
I hate Laika now.

Puppet replicas are in development

Cute!

I know Kubo had a kinda crappy ending but it's still in my top 5 movies of all time. Bad endings don't ruin this type of journey movie for me.

Anyone else have tears in their eyes about half the time? Started for me when his mother hit her head on the rock and almost never stopped Not a gril, just have a craving to feel emotions in media cause in my own life I can't seem to

>not wanting /ss/ with aunts

Nike could back the loans, but even daddy has to cut the wallet at some point. Kubo broke even though, it's enough for them to make another movie. If they have a true flop, then you have to worry

>Neither Paranorman nor Kubo had functional humor
and that's what made it relatable. Lots of shows (especially now) have unfunny humor which only works in the reference frame of the characters, so you relate to the character in order to make it humorous.

>unfunny is relatable
Most relatable character incoming

Yup. Kubo was one feel trip after another.

Kubo couldn't go heavy on the humor; you can't have the kid protagonist yucking it up while he's still coming to terms with his mother's death.

Paranorman had a problem of making jokes during scenes that called for more gravitas, like when the town mob was about to descend on Norman but his parents were only mildly annoyed.

>Kubo couldn't go heavy on the humor
And yet they went too far by a fuckload

I hope the store does well and that this happens because I really want a little Hanzo figure for my desk.

That moon Kubo sure is pretty.

>That moon Kubo sure is pretty.
The Moon King demands all members of his house be perfect.

(((LAIKA)))

Can I be the soundtracks guy? What genre? Jump up dnb?

I would a Kubo.

>I'm sure they'd like to at least be breaking even and not require constant checks from Travis's daddy to keep the lights on.

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong.

kubo literally had dozens of ghosts, but coraline is better

Will there be a penis under the pants?

IN THE GAY WAY
HOORAY FOR THE KIND OF MAN THAT YOU WILL FIND IN THE GAY WAY

Ouch. Right in the wallet.

I know he has a butt.

Especially WITH A PENIS UNDER THE PANTS

The design of the Paranorman vinyl is really cool

Source? Thats cute.

Well it's not hot if he doesn't have a penis, obviously.

...

Wonder why this blog is locked behind a password now.

You tried.
Have a (You)

She started drawing shotacon doujinshis, probably.

Artist went professional.

Interned on the Loud House and has done some stuff for the Over the Garden Wall comics.

Any word on what their next movie is about?

Good for her, moving up in life!

Going to miss her art tho, it was pretty good.

Gay sex between an adult man and a young boy, obviously.

Kubo's ending was garbage.

Nope, no solid details on the premise other than there are no children in it. Comes out in less than a year too

Wasn't it more that the plot won't involve a kid as a main character? Still, I hope that the new story is darker and goes on grounds the older films couldn't do.

...I also hope we get a sequel to Paranorman one day.

>John Canemaker: You’ve said Kubo is a final culmination of the four features you’ve done that focus on childhood. Where are you and Laika going next?

>Travis Knight: Adulthood. This film is a good bye in a number of different ways. The themes that it deals with – loss and grief. But it also deals with healing, compassion, forgiveness and empathy. And so, it is, effectively, the end of this first cycle of films that we’ve done at the studio. The things we’ve got coming are completely different. Our next film does not feature a child protagonist. I don’t even know that there are any children in it at all. I wouldn’t say it’s adult-oriented. But it’s a different kind of a film for us. It’s still intended for families, but it’s a different kind of a story.

>John Canemaker: Is it a genre film, like film noir or science fiction, or a western?

>Travis Knight: It’s a blend of things we haven’t really tackled before. We’ll probably announce before the end of the year. It’s really interesting aesthetically, tonally. Completely different from what we’ve done before. The thing that excites me is that I know that the handful of films we’ve got coming down the road and they’re so totally different from what we’ve done. The film following the next one, it’s just so unusual, so interesting.

>find out Regina Spektor did the soundtrack for Kubo
Haven't watched the movie but now I do

It's a surprise!

>vinyl
What.

Anyways, neat. I really don't think that I'll get or even want anything from there outside the artbook, maybe. After all, I just picked up the Laika Collection recently. Still, it would be nice to see Laika getting more funds for their movies.
