For those who "want to believe," but can't, here are some things you can do. If you do them, it will greatly facilitate you achieving first-hand experience of God, which is an important part of Orthodox faith.

>Read three chapters from the Gospels every day.

>Pray the Jesus Prayer whenever you are waiting or have nothing to focus your mind on.

>Pray the Our Father first thing after you wake up, every morning

>Every time you are tempted by anger, lust, or anything else, follow what the monk does in this cartoon: youtube.com/watch?v=XP0J2eDPIjU

>Make the Sign of the Cross a few times every day, which is praying with your fingertips.

>Come to Divine Liturgy every Sunday.

>Read Psalm 50 every night (Psalm 51 in non-Orthodox Bibles).

>Read The Way of a Pilgrim

Open to all Christians and non-devil worshipping faithful!

Indeed. For Christ!

For Jesus of Nazareth!

False. Christ was the first and last to ever truly BTFO Jews. They've been buttmad ever since. They've even become devil worshippers because of Jesus.

Don't be an idiot, (((you))). Nobody believes your jew propaganda.

Jesus Literally ends judaism.

Seasons Greetings

Can orthodoxists drink alcohol

So wait a sec...you're contention is that Orthodox Christianity is pro-Judaism? Two religions that are literally defined by their opposition to one another?

Hello :3

...

I'm just here to spread some seasonal love.

...

hey

Jesus Christ, the son of God.

Hi constantine

Where did this stupid meme come from? Constantine was a Byzantine emperor, Achmed.

This is a nicorthodox tread. Be nice (OwO)

Come to church on Sun!

I already do

Good! Come to Orthodox church then! Final stage.

Reporting in. Glory to God in the highest!

Yes

How?

Orthos like all hallows? Thought that was a bunch of Western pagan shit.

stupid thirsty anime poster

Be nice

I don't celebrate it, personally. It was great when I was a kid and it just meant a bunch of free candy. But now it's just an excuse for girls to dress really scantily (more than usual), and for everyone to get drunk and fornicate. Not to mention the unsavory aesthetic.

Orthodox All-Saints Day is actually a different day, during the Paschal season.

i hope you get raped by as many men like the anime grill you just posted

Modest anime will solve the slut problem :3

Why are you so rude?

because you are fishing for it you fuccboi
and i am falling for the bait, damn

To be fair I love a cute anime girl as much as the next man. But at the same time stopping watching anime was probably one of the best things I ever did for my nofap. I highly recommend it.

>Orthodox General

HOLY FUCK END YOURSELF AND STOP TRIGGERING ME YOU PATHETIC FAGGOT

How to into nofap? I cannot take it after two days

Animu poster :3

You're supposed to marry a nice girl and nail the fuck out of her. But until that happens you might as well just wank away in my opinion as long as it's not dominating your thoughts, time, and life.

...

Tbh I can't give any advice that's not just going to make people roll their eyes. I got rid of my smartphone (which was a good decision for many, many other reasons), stopped watching anime, and started praying much more often and intentionally. But even then it took a long time before any real progress was made. Once you get past the first few weeks it gets a lot easier. Glory to God!

Not an Orthodox answer.

Fuck off Orthodox fgts. Hallowenn is a pagan Irish holiday honouring the Celtic Gods for a good harvest and honouring the dead. Also Catholicism is the denomination of whites. Orthodox is for slavs and modern "Greeks".

For Orthodox it's important to keep things in perspective. It is a western holiday but we don't like to tell what people should do with their kids and view it as mostly harmless. However along with this perspective would come the idea that however much you spend on costumes and candy for halloween should not be as much as you donate to the Church. That kind of thing. Have a good one

...

I'm not Orthodox. IIRC I'm not supposed to fap either.

But as a matter of practicality, I found that if I just work one off first thing after waking up (morning wood is a natural product of the healthy REM sleep you're supposed to be having prior to waking up on time) then that's a way to start my day that I can look forward to, and then I'm a lot less likely to get distracted lusting after anything that moves during the rest of the day.

Dude says he cannot take it after two days. Maybe that's something he should work on, but if not fapping is messing with him more than fapping as needed, then that seems counterproductive to me. It's also important for prostate health to drain things out at least every few days.

Are you a Latin then? If so, why do you celebrate a pagan holiday? And if you're a pagan yourself, why does it matter which "denomination" of Christianity is "whiter?"

there are 300 million of us. We live all over the world, including the west, man. We live in the world...

I cannot take it. I cannot find any qt Orthodox waifus. Only catholics or Evangelicals ;_;

Plus I feel bad if I get my wife to have sex with me all because I can't hold it in

I hope so. I still need my phone. I tried so hard and got so far....

Mexican Orthodox here, I celebrate Halloween and Dia de Muertos

this is false. Once you stop the production goes down plus night emissions kick in. It's one of the jewish deceptions to say you can't get by without draining your balls on (((BLACKED))) (((PORN))).

...

I've never had a nocturnal emission even when I held off for weeks at a time.

Everybody's biology is different I guess. I don't need porn, either. First thing in the morning as I'm just waking up in bed it's not even worth the trouble to go waste time getting bored and unsatisfied hunting for fap material.

To each his own. I'm just saying this is what's been practical for me.

Fair enough.
So have you begun fasting? Are you coming to Orthodox Church this sun? I think confession would lighten your mental load as well...Give that a try.

I want this pragmatism meme to end. Yeah, fapping might make your life easier, but who cares? Christ says for us to take up our cross and follow him. It's a thorny world out there, and there are any number of sins we can commit to make our lives easier, but as Christians we must give the passions no quarter and attempt to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. We'll fail harshly and often, but the Lord is faithful to forgive us as long as we're willing to try again with all our hearts.

I know that feel. But to be fair, you could still convert a girl to Orthodoxy. As far as having sex within marriage goes, it still requires a large amount of abstinence for Orthodox. You're not supposed to have sex (or fap, of course) on fast days, which if you didn't know is almost half the year. So basically it's good to get this self-discipline down before you even get married.

>We live all over the world
Fuck off LARPer. You probably convert because you buy into the whole "le white nationalist Putin is not controlled opposition and is based xddddd super non cuck Slav religion".

I could say the same about how you're either a Latin who converted because of "le Deus vult xd" or a pagan because of "muh white pride."

I can still have sex for enjoyment right? I wouldn't want to do it too regularly anyways '_'

It would get boring. What happens if I get a catholic gf and she don't want me to go orthodox?

Orthodoxy is a death cult

I don't understand what you get out of this--As if Ireland didn't fall for the Catholic meme. It's like crab-cage mentality or something.

No, I'm not LARPing. Orthodoxy is not live action role playing. It's a legitimate Christian denomination, and in my view the most legitimate.

That's admirable. I'm not aware of any RC traditions that specify sexual abstinence on certain days, but I would follow that, and I do think that would be good practice for self discipline.

I'll tell you what thought, threads like this have inspired me to think about going back to old fashioned things like not eating meat on Fridays. I do think that lack of traditional observance is doing us a disservice.

>I can still have sex for enjoyment right?

In my opinion that'd be fine, but I'd talk to your spiritual father about it as you're approaching marriage.

>What happens if I get a catholic gf and she don't want me to go orthodox?

*whip-crack sound*
But seriously, in that case you'd have to choose between eternal communion with the Living God or having good feelings in your peepee. I hope this would be an easy choice.

We like to think of it as veneration of the dead who gave their life or for the normal subject of Orthodoxy, getting used to the idea of dying. It's only in the last 100 years or so that death has been made almost taboo in the west. Dying is a fact of life.

We venerate the dead.

>*whip-crack sound*
>But seriously, in that case
This. Always get married to somebody who also completes your spiritual life. That's going to make things so much easier when you both have that ground zero to share clinging to.

I'm aware of some very specific RC traditions that call masturbation a mortal sin, my man. You might want to look into that.

Well no. Christians pay veneration to the remains of martyrs. If you read the Martydom of Polycarp, you can see the motif similar to that of the hearings done when the woman touched Paul's handkerchief(I am recalling from memory it could be someone else). It of course applies to the Martyr himself with regards to Polycarp

Religion is gay

Oh, that is great, otherwise I would end up making a football team.

My priest has a lot of things currently with his parish AGM and having to go to Paris. I don't have time to arrange meetings with him for the time being as a result.

>good feelings in your peepee
Delete this. It is not true. I will not have sex until I am married

I married my best friend before I found Orthodoxy, and who is not an orthodox/isn't interested right now. Everyone is on their own journey in life. Don't try to force it, it's makes things bad, but also if you are authentic in your practice and disciplined they may see the presence of God in your life in wish to join you.

By comparison the idea of Only marrying an Orthodox waifu so they share in YOUR journey seems sort of petty IMO. Again, everyone is on their own journey towards or away from God.

Reformed Baptist here.

Carry on brothers

>It's only in the last 100 years or so that death has been made almost taboo in the west.
Well yeah because Catholicism is also a death cult, no surprise here.
In practice Orthodoxy is all about graveyards and last rites. It's the only context in which the majority of the Orthodox practice their religion in the current year.
Jesus didn't teach ancestor worship nor celebration of death.

Yeah, that comports with what I've observed about marriages. If there's a fundamental difference in where people are headed or some kind of irreconcilable difference in dogma then that tends to put some sort of a wedge into things (which could be as simple as the two families never really joining.)

But if, one way or another, there is not a barrier, then that's what's really important.

Carry on, John! Hey, visit one of our Churches sometime (doesn't have to be Sun...we've got things on Wed usually too!)--Look us up on here for the closest one: oca.org/

I feel ill.

You realize this is precisely what St. Paul was talking about, right? If you're already married to somebody of another religion when you convert, then you shouldn't divorce them or spurn the marriage. But if you're not married yet, then you shouldn't become unequally yoked by marrying someone of another religion.

That is because your countrymen are simply taking it as an aspect of national identity and not belief.

Btw, Jews during the time of Jesus do indeed venerate dead patriarchs and have pilgrimages to their sites. You may notice that while this is widespread and common knowledge at the time, it is never condemned or rejected by the NT. And this is another reason why a plain text reading of Scripture wouldn't give you the full picture

I don't know where you go to Orthodox church, but that is not my experience at all. Our Church is filled with life, not death. Although death is there too. It's not one or the other, because that's a fake vision of human existence to make people feel good. The truth shall set us free.

Marriage is a Gift from God. It's not meant for our profit, but to glorify Him.

Oh how I wish you'd show me where I said the opposite! Incidentally, however, I'd simply point out that while marriage does glorify God, it is also for our profit. I'd give 1 Corinthians 7 a peep if I were you.

I don't really think we're talking at different ends here. I think you want to disagree with me, but I'm not really disagreeing. Have fun if you want to be polemical I guess, brother. All is for the Glory of God.

You were disagreeing with me above, so I took your post for continuing that disagreement. Forgive me.

Abstenance is the number one fetish

Bumpu

Hmm. But Corinthians 7 doesn't disagree with me...it's a bit on practicalities. Even if we are given over a gift from God to profit us for a time we are to repay it in devotion and reverence...I don't understand why you disagree--

I think I was misreading your point because I wanted to argue, like you said. The point I was trying to make was just that marriage very clearly is a benefit for us.

Heh. This gets my vote for the most respectful anime/christchan post on an Orthodox thread ever. I audibly hue'd.

Did you know how tiny this painting is? It's as small as a thumbnail! The artist is very Talented!

That is not christ chan. It is Mary chan

Oh yes, I fully agree with you, brother :)

Very Good! ;D

Thank you my brother. St Kek agrees

Glory unto God in the Highest!

Glory unto His Mother, Theotokos!

better shot!
