Tell me exactly what looks terrible about that shot with the vulture. I see no problems with the global illumination, speculative mapping, they even had time to do a dust and dirt pass, the motion blur is realistic at 24fps.

Oh and by the way I guarantee you the people who worked on this shot were given no more than 2 weeks to finish it.

Because we aren't given enough time to finish shots anymore, any the rise of digital photography means directors can spend hours backing up and replaying the same shot over and over and over scrutinizing every fucking pixel where before the film had to be developed before you got to see the dailies and we got to do our fucking jobs in peace.

Did the cg dino shots feel like they had weight behind them in Jurassic Park? I'm guessing you'd say yes. They had almost a year to do all the cg on that film and they filmed almost everything on camera so it wasn't just "fix it in post". When we have time to do our job you get Blomkamp level CG.
