So after all that he gets gunned down my mexicans and we dont even see it happen.

What was the point in his story arc?

always bring agua

to show that you shouldn't try to steal drug money

Sometimes life doesn't let you complete your arc

It's postmodern existentialism in a nutshell.

Bad shit happens for no reason and don't try to make sense of it.

>we dont even see it happen.
that's the best thing about this movie

In the book, we actually get to hear a detailed eyewitness account of the shootout after the fact and Moss actually goes down somewhat in a blaze of glory.

So, if anything. The movie did better by making it even more anti-climactic

How to fix No Country for Old Men

>instead of dyng off screen, Moss gets into a 15 minute bloody shoot-off with Chigurh
>It has explosions, machine guns, and a car chase
>Shoot off ends with a hand-to-hand fight scene with Moss and Chigurh at a meat packing plant
>Chigurh dies by falling in a giant meat grinder
>before Chigurh falls in, Moss says "It's time to MEAT your maker, bitch!"
>Moss runs away with his bitch and lives happier after ever
>as they walk away, a bloody hand rises from the grinder and cuts to "The End?" plastered across the screen which is written in blood of course.
>No ending scene with the sheriff with his nonsensical pretentious dream

fuck off michael bay

Well shit I dont pay money to watch crap like that.

Alright faggot, you can keep that gay shit.

>even more anti-climactic

Umm, why be anti-climatic?

Yes.

>I JUST WANTED TO SEE THE BAD GUYS GO PEW PEW PEW ON THE GOOD GUY WAAAAA
Honestly, there's not that much to see. They show up, he gets shot, end of story.

i didn't realize this was moss when i watched it. i thought it was just some random victim.
i was really confused when this film ended and only found out this was moss through wikipedia

Same reason Chigurh gets into a car accident. It’s just bad shit that happens to people. For all the mysticism surrounding Chigurh, the last scene we get of him is nothing more than a broken and mortal man limping away.

At any point Chigurh could’ve been killed by Moss during their fight, he’s no more invulnerable than Moss. They’re all just people, doing bad shit to each other.

Anyone else noticed this?

but the bad shit did happen for a reason, he took money from bad guys

Sounds like a pretty shitty story to me. Oh wait the movie sucked too, hmm.

I honestly think you should kill yourself like right now.

Yeah bit chigurh kills everyone and lives. The story had no redemption, no resolve. It was pointless.

>this ain't no country for old men anymore
had to turn it off after that, there will be blood is a much better movie

The moral of the story is to ditch the bag and money bands if you ever encounter illegal cartel money from a botched drug deal.

What was the point in his story arc

>What was the point of life

>Dan if you go down there.... there will be blood
at least they get it out of the way in the first fifteen minutes

It was a concious attempt to defy classic "western" genre tropes. The climax of any western is the big shootout at the end, and this film defies that tradition by not only leaving the shootout out of the film, but by making the hero lose and the antagonist prevail.

You decide if it was good or not.

so wait was Llewellyn really clever and resourceful and was able to outsmart a hitman who had people running criminal empires worried but lived in a trailer? Was he there by choice because he's a loan man who does what he wants? Does he separate himself from society because he's dealing with trauma from the war? I just never got how he was the super competent guy but didn't seem to have the background to suggest his intelligence. A self imposed exile could make sense as that is a recurring theme in a lot of McCarthy's books.

Moss got distracted by pussy let that be a lesson.

It was 1980. He had no reason to believe that there'd be a tracking device or transponder in the bag until he realized that it couldn't just be coincidence that he was being tracked like this.

Chigurh is not a super human. He will die probably from his own actions. But really what was the point of his life in the first place? What is he even gonna do with the money? He's clearly a piece of shit who only exists to spread misery.

>steal drug money from a cartel
>get killed by the cartel

>bad shit happens for no reason
Brainlets.

>intelligent people are always successful

Nice meme, some of the smartest people i know are complete fuck ups personally, no reason to assume Llewellyn isnt the same.

ITT: brainlets

Yeah thats great mate, i dont pay money to see that.

He tried....

Movies are not art faggot.

At the very least, he has to find serious medical attention for that compound fracture. That isn't just some shit you can nurse yourself.

oh my god fuck off dude

>sitting in a gas station
>some psychopath walks in and kills you by impaling your brain with a cattle prod because you lost a coin toss that you never agreed to

everything happens for a reason

he was a methodical redneck that fit the methodical style of mccarthy's prose.

llewellyn:

got up
got dressed
fixed breakfast
spoke barely
pumped gas
took a turn
etc

Enjoy Peter Rabbit.

Where all these characters fucked up by the Vietnam war. Did the army seriously let these trained assassins and trackers to go back to civilian life? I would have at least given them contract jobs.

what do you mean by that?

I never read the book, did he live that lifestyle because he enjoyed it or was there some greater underlying issue that he had, PTSD or whatever. or maybe I'm being too literal and he was just a cool character that McCarthy conjured up

...

>he thought he was the main character

This.

Jesus have you never encountered someone that wasn't upper-middle class? They're not all retards. He probably enjoyed hunting and drinking and chose a lifestyle that was not demanding so he was able to pursue those interests. Not everyone needs to live in a McMansion and shit out 2.5 kids.

the real question is what is the point of sugar getting fucking obliterated by that car in the end? just because?

he lived in a trailer, in a trailer park. have you ever met someone from a trailer park? they are full of drugs, violence and alcoholism, sexual abuse etc.. you don't have to be rich, but people in caravan parks aren't doing well for themselves.

Moss was a Vietnam veteran, he was probably more experienced than Chigurh at combat. He’s the only character to go toe to toe with Chigurh and live, and he wings Chigurh pretty badly as well. Their second confrontation could’ve gone either way had it happened.

Have you? A lot of parks are full of normal people.

It goes with the theme of chance that is throughout the movie.
He's built up to be an unstoppable killing machine, and then by chance he's struck down and broken.
Then the sheriff goes on about how he's tired and been dealing with this shit forever, and his father before him, and it will never end, Sugur isn't special, he's just one of millions of criminal scum.

I guess that justifies the combat side of things but if he's so capable, why is he living in a trailer park? Is he a tragic hero who has given up on chasing material wealth and finds pleasure in the simple things like hunting and tracking? Is his wife ok with this? She seems very sweet if not a little bit airy. But she describes Llewellyn as accomplishing anything he sets his mind to, that's why I'm wondering if there was some mention of Llewellyn working through conflicted feelings stemming from his time in Iraq.

user, not to judge or anything, but I'm starting to think you might live in a trailer park.

This is the only good reply.

2 different people. I just have family that I know that live in trailer homes that are smart just not particularly ambitious. Really you should get out more. Not every apartment is full of crack dealing black people same as not every trailer park is full of deadbeat methaddicts.

agree. also it was great

No.
I mean movies are not meant to be some super convoluted boring 2 hour flick where you sit there at the end with no idea why you watched it. There doesn't have to be explosions and tits every 3 seconds but ffs obey the convention of story telling.

>super convoluted boring 2 hour flick where you sit there at the end with no idea why you watched it
imagine being this much of a pleb

>trailer trash posts on Sup Forums
I guess I'm not surprised.

Nigger I own 2 luxury automobiles, a boat, and a palatial mansion. As an investment banker I can buy and sell people like you. If I wanted to I could steal your snaggletooth girlfriend but why the fuck would I want some peasant whore when I can fuck someone without every STD known to man from banging all your stinky manual laboring friends. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to eat sushi that probably costs more than your entire wardrobe.

Why would combat skills make him too valuable to live in a trailer park? There aren’t many jobs out there aside from the armed forces that value your ability to withstand an ambush from a shotgun toting maniac.

I don’t live in a trailer park, but I’ve actually been to some. Some are garbage, some are just normal people who want cheap rent.

>That's who you keep looking out the window for?
>Well, half.
>What else then?
>Just looking for what's comin'.
>Yeah.
>But no one ever sees that.

the conversation leading to his death explains this. it's a recurring theme.

Post of reason. You're alright user you're alright

Thanks boys

jesus christ the butt hurt, chill the fuck out. if you're so content living there try not posting about it constantly on a film and television image board

i was thinking army wage or pension pay or something like that, he must have been a pretty good soldier so would have thought he would be compensated for that.

go talk to the other guy about how good trailer parks are, i don't care.

this is now a cringe thread

yikes. embarrassing post even if its a meme user

>I know a movie I have big. Brain

extended directors cut when, the cohens vision was never realised

Powerful stuff

where is the getting place?
