We already had StarShip Troopers.

no

Nigga that was a Starcraft movie

youtube.com/watch?v=k5X5a2eBZv0

Zack Snyder could do it

stop making this thread

>manly violence, not soyviolence like in Deadpool
>white males
>skulls all over the place
>"oversized" armor
This has edgy written all over it on some soyblog or something.
Violent and fun movies can no longer be made.

>Would a 40K movie ever work?

Not in our gay timeline

Yes
youtube.com/watch?v=FhULhHCk_D8

Starship troopers was absolute garbage. Verhoeven is a hack fraud who projected is own insecurities onto a badly written plot synopsys of the book, and when challenged about it, claimed it was a "satire".
It doesn't work in the technical of visual aspects either, since it literally misses all the iconic things that made the book famous: intricate detailed combat drops, with many layers of deception and interference to stop them getting murked by anti-air equipment.
Combat suits and a specialized type of combat adapted to it
The depression in reaching for lofty goals, the intermediary regret at your choices, the pride of achievement and coming of age
Basically the hack fraud ignored literally every good quality about heinleins work, injected no good qualities of his own, and pretended it was a satire rather than just a crock of shit.

Fun is verboten

youtube.com/watch?v=vpDYLij_eKg

Why can't it be a satire?

Verhoeven just attempts to use it as a scapegoat for delivering a garbage product. It doesn't even attack the ideals of the book, just his own made up autistic insecurities.

Starcraft movie is more likely to happen for it'll be able to reach the break-even point solely with Korea.

I liked the book too man, but you may as well ignore it regarding the movie. The movie attacks the ideals of an authoritarian/militarist society

I thought Half in the Bag did a good casual analysis if you want to see where I'm coming from

Yes.

youtube.com/watch?v=SUplioG2DC4
This is an actual example, unlike shitty CGI rampage with terrible VA that was posted.

As for "serious" big screen movie or tv series - it's possible, but not today. It needs:
>better tech, especially with CG
>it needs to go a bit more mainstream (it's going that way) while currently popular IPs would need to generate some fatigue (SW, Marvel etc.)

Movie big boys will eventually reach for that IP.

this, though it works much better in episodes

I will only watch it if Sam Raimi directs and writes

only if it was good and shit

>beware the Jew, the Nigger, the Homo

Was GW even informed about this?

>not knowing about Ultramarines
It was ok.

Literally what did he mean by this?

>It's another "Blizzard makes beautiful CGI and ruins it by superimposing and killing the career of live action actors" episode

>starcraft isn't a 40k ripoff

>40k
>not soy

Brace yourselves for kino lads

youtu.be/ClfhBZR9-As

>He doesn't know that Starcraft was literally just a scrapped Warham game

He said himself he didn't bother reading the whole book because it was so boring, so he spiced it up and made it fun

Only if this is the soundtrack

>soyviolence like in Deadpool

This shithole is getting worse by the day.

It could easily work. People here will create ludicrous persecution narratives in which it wouldn't, but all they're showing is they don't live in reality and worse still don't know anything about 40K

Existing, good novels that could work as movies or series of movies:

Storm of Iron
Helsreach
Eisenhorn,
The Ultramarines novels.

Gaunt's Ghosts would make an excellent long running tv series.

The Horus Heresy would be the only thing that would be difficult in any visual media because its so retarded long and sprawling, and the average scene would require a bigger budget than one the most expensive Game of Throne episodes, but if it was going ahead as several movies I think know how they should do it.

Adapt Know No Fear first. Don't actually do too much exposition. We want to lure people in, and that means a fast pace. The audience only needs to understand the broad strokes. Great Crusade. Man reclaiming the starts. Roman Supersoldiers are convening with Black Sheep weirdo super soldiers. Betrayal. It's actually part of a much bigger war. Keep it impactful and fast paced and confused, like the book. This gets people interested.

If it does well follow it up with The First Heretic, make it very exposition heavy but in a ponderous, resonant, Lord of the Rings kind of way. This properly introduces the world and functions as a direct prequel to Know No Fear

If that goes well you do two more movies. Horus Rising, which is an abridged combination of the books Horus Rising and False Gods.

Follow that up with Movie 4, Galaxy in Flames, which shows Istvaan 3, Istvaan 5, and the start of the heresy.

If you get to movie 5, do siege of Terra.

What's good about this is it can fail at any point. If Know no Fear bombs it still tells a complete story: The Battle of Calth.

If it does well but the First Heretic bombs and gets the series cancelled, you still have the whole story of the Word Bearers and Ultramarines.

If we get 3 we'll probably get 4, and there you have the whole story of how the Heresy started.

If we got to five you've got an abridged story of the entire heresy, with its focused narrowed in The Word Bearers, Ultramarines, Horus, and Dorn for the last movie.

40k is literally the definition of soy though

Here's a gif of one of the best bits

?

yes, but it would be basic bitch - imperial world - chaos cult trying to summon demons - space marines show up - betrayal by one of the main characters to chaos - save the day - cliffhanger of the main dude converting to chaos maybe.
so basically every 40k game and movie made so far.

it would be PG-13, so no

The problem is that GW would ever only agree on a SM Movie.
But that would be pretty boring film-wise (see that CGI turd).

The true Kino of 40k lies in the novels of Dan Abnett.

...

The problem with a Warhammer 40k film is that it wouldn't know what audience it is being made for. The content is violent and gory so it would need to be R-rated, yet the main demographic it would be aimed at would be kids/teens.

I've actually wondered if there is value in having a duel-released film that is theatres for two different age restrictions. Like the way you get 2D and 3D versions, but have an R-rated film with an edited counterpart that is for younger audiences or something.

Anyway if a 40k movie was to be made it would need to be a Fury Road style kino action ride from start to end.

...

There already was a Warhammer 40k film, it was really bad because of how much GW skimps on anything and everything they make. Pretty much the only good Warhammer 40k properties are anything made by relic.

Fuck off already you stupid fucking nigger.

...

like warcraft it borrows some of the asthetics but the actual plot and characters feels like an Americanization of Japanese space anime.

Talking about Ultramarines, boyo. I don't think Inquisitor was feature-length anyway.

The world is not ready for such kino.

Could it work?
Hell yes, there is so much material to work with. Horus Heresy could be an epic miniseries, they could do a band of brothers type show for an imperial guard unit, and maybe a show about following the adventures of an inquisitorial squad as they travel the galaxy rooting out heresy. That last option would be a good way to do a monster of the week show or at least get a wide variety of aliens and places into it.

Will it ever work?
Probably not.

Yeah they're both shit anyway

It would need to be a carefully picked vertical slice of the 40k universe, like how Dredd was. Think "A day in the life of an Imperial Guardsman." You can't fit the entire 40k universe into one movie but there is plenty of room to write an interesting narrative that shows some of it off.

they should do this guy first

soyboy

I can see the Cain books getting a movie that general audiences would find enjoyable without it being changed in every aspect.

Fucking HERETICS!!!
If the Hollywood studios make this a movie:
The Space Marines would all be Black LGBTQXYZ Tranny's and the Orcs are peaceful founders of Civilization.
Crowd funding like Star Trek Axanar is a better prospect.(They) Killed Axanar because it shows Fan's can now make a better product then Major Studios.

I think Gaunt's Ghost could work

no because 40k is a shitty setting for immature soyboy manchildren
>MUH GRIMDARK XD
kys

This is why we don't invite you anywhere man

40k sure is nerdy but it definitely isn't soy

not an argument, 40kid.
your setting is shit tier, le epic grimdark xd. go back to r*ddit

Not in the capacity that 40k fans would want it. You could totally do a great movie about some IG guard or Tau human auxiliaries though. Just make a typical moving war drama in the 40k setting, and keep the more extreme stuff of the setting to the background or not present at all.

But of course people would flip shit if it wasn't 2 hours straight of space marine ultra violence apocalypse porn.

How hard would a review site burn to the ground over the words

Beware the alien, the mutant, the heretic
and
PURGE CLEANSE KILL

Warhammer Fantasy setting though, now there's some ripe kino potential. You could even-

>Age of Sigmar

Oh right, Warhammer Fantasy is kill.

HBO, nigga

>D&D potential W40K writers

Damnatus was pure 40k kino.

youtube.com/watch?v=77TpMvRZ_LQ

Too bad Games Workshop shut them down over copyright issues. It's a massive pain in the ass to try to find the full version of this movie anymore.

>40k
>Not soy
The only faggots I knew IRL who care about 40k were the biggest fucking soyboy cucks I've ever known.
This shit's MORE soy than Deadpool, it's not "too manly" it's a cringy teenage edgelord fantasy, it's shit.
Look at this trash it just screams "Look maw it's SO edgy, I'm a real man now"

>40k show done like the Sopranos

"Promethium? OVUH HEEEEEAAA!"

"Watch it Taldeer."

Can you even fucking imagine the feminist and sjw outrage about a male dominated third reich type movie?

If you love warhammer, you don't want it to get this much attention from these faggots.

...

>watch it Taldeer

like gotrek felix le epic quest,
would be kino

I'd be fine if they had to make a vision of the Emperor a gril just to get away with all the BURN MAIM KILL shit
Canonically, the Emperor's form we know of isn't is real form and it's simply the one he projects onto humanity. There was a really old excerpt from one of the books that the Emp was really just a fragile old man

patrician taste brother

>muh epic spess muhreens
Marines shouldn't be the focus of the plot. If they show up at all, they should be such an awe inspiring force of nature that even the protagonists are terrified by their presence. They're the God Emperor's literal angels of death, semi-mythic beings that even canonically despite being the franchise's posterboys are so few in number that most of the Imperium regards them as a legend.

I just wanna see this on screen man

imgur.com/gallery/tCOHn

It'd be glorious

>that pic
wew you're not wrong

...

>No fun allowed timeline confirmed

>soyboy cucks
>edgelord

You just completely contradicted yourself. You can't call someone two completely opposite insults. Like so called "skinnyfat", whatever the fuck that means. Sounds like quantum flux. Pick one stereotype and stick to it.

>the Emperor a gril

'And dey don git scurred. Ya know what I mean?'
'Aw hells naw, Horus!'

ok so 2 hour film
>first 8 minutes we meet the god emperor who decrees about the heretics
>next 4 minutes are shots of ships traversing space and closing in on the alien menace
>the next 1 hour and 8 minutes is a single massive battle scene starting from a drop onto the alien planet and a non stop battle until every zenu is dead.
no faggy love story no great exposition no autism just dead mexicans

It could work, but it has the potential to massively fail.

Would be pretty intense visually, however.

HELSREACH: The Movie - Vol. 1
youtube.com/watch?v=SUplioG2DC4

If Games Workshop was smart, then they would pay this guy and make it official. If.

>wanting to bring normies into 40k
fucking hell no
the moment they learn about 40k's existence they'll be demanding LGBTQ stronk wamyn marines and all kinds of bullshit
And GW will listen to them, gleefully thinking of the extra sales they're SUUURE to get from these countless thousands of online whiners (which they won't get)

Warhammer is just pure shit. I bullied my best friend so hard for liking it and I don't regret it one bit. 40K is to Dune what "Monster Bug Wars" is to David Attenborough. Such my coch, you faggots.

Youre just a bad person

I wish. Guy is too. It's trying to get his original war photograph film and Atlas Shrugged film made.

>Zack Snyder

You must be purged.

40k universe is complete garbage only good for making big two page spread pictures of people shooting and screaming.
It would bomb harder than DC.

pretty much, just focus on Imperials most the time, with cool SM shit dropping in occasionally

Double dubs can't be wrong

no, a 30k one MIGHT but it'll never appeal to the mainstream and it'd need a decent budget.

That's right, Zack Snyder. He could do a good job with it too if he just had someone else do all the writing for him. His best movies are the ones he had the least creative control over (like DotD), and the dumb flashy over-dramatic sickdark tone of WH40k suits his directorial style perfectly.

This guy gets it.

I would just like to see a big documentary-style movie about the Horus Heresy and all the other events leading up to WH40k, told in the style of the intro to LOTR but longer and more detailed, with "episodes" of different important parts of the WH40k timeline playing out with acting and dialog.

The stories about the 20 Primarchs and their legions during the Great Crusade / Horus Heresy are a really interesting read, even just on the 40k wiki. Surely there is a way to translate that interest into a entertaining story for the big screen

No, leave 30k/40k alone. The moment someone tries to bring it into the cinematic arena it will be flooded with retards that will try to change it.

Read the books if you want a goddamn story.

No I don't think so. Warhammer 40k is not as cool as you all think.

>god emperor who decrees about the heretics
He was anti-religious, so rather we'd see him criminalising religion and organising raids on centres of "subversive behaviour, be it cells on Terra or entire planets.

That was Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans.
