Is that what Gravity Falls had?

More or less.

>repeatedly wants to spend time with his crush
>repeatedly his sister fucks it up

Now, she wasn't interested anyway but at the very least he might have found out sooner and been able to move the fuck on if his sister wasn't an emotionally manipulative piece of shit.

Have you seen the finale?

Every Gravity Falls thread, it's the same damned Thing. "Mabel A shit with botched characterization" "Pacifica only Girl worth more than 20 minutes of Screen Time" "The Ending was Hot Garbage" "Hirsch is a hack whose run out of Steam". I mean, I'm not saying I don't agree with all of those, because I absolutely do, it's just that it's so damn Tirijg doing this same Spng and Dance over and Over again. Why don't we ever talk about something different?

How about, the Reverse Falls AU, huh? Pacifica is a rich but humble girl with a bubbly personality and a kind heart. Dipper is a cold, aloof, sorcerer who uses a mask of stoicism to hide and suppress the emotions he has been taught to view as weakness. Gideon is a genuinely adorable and lovable little shy guy with and abusive father who uses adventures and the Journal as a means of Escapism. The Stans are a pair of evil, manipulative old sociopaths with no senss of right or wrong, and no care for whiter their actions harm others, including their Wards. And Mabel gets to be the Evil Bitch We always knew her to be.

Rick and Morty?

Are. You. Fucking. Serious?
Mabel literally pushed him to TELL HER ABOUT IT ALREADY, because he was being a pussy for a whole fucking season.

Seriously, this is the type of shit Alex had to put up with, no wonder he quit while he was ahead.

It's a neat AU

The show just had so much potential, and the most interesting AU to me is the one where it played to its strengths.

I prefer Reverse Pacifica to be a hippie.

I remember there being this one sort of weird AU somebody here came up with called Hivemind

>interferes in ways that prevent him from telling her
>when he says he DOESN'T want to right now, she won't take that for an answer either
She has to have her way in all circumstances, ever, and Hirsch lets her for some stupid reason.

A rushed "huh my bad" is too little too late.

>And Mabel gets to be the Evil Bitch We always knew her to be.
Reverse Mabel would have her own fucking interests, hang out with her buddies, stay out of her brother's shit, and be there to listen without trying to control him constantly. Like a decent sister or even friend.

>interferes in ways that prevent him from telling her
She literally NEVER does this, not even once.

If you want to make this argument you'd be better off saying that the writers put Dipper in circumstances that caused that, because they're SJWs who didn't want him to get with a slightly age-inappropriate chick or something.

>Any other Sup Forums content that seems to actively have the message, "It's okay if your loved ones manipulate you because you aren't supposed to want anything yourself at all?"
Literally The Loud House. Lincoln has it 10 times worse than Dipper.

The fucking pig she'd just met and decided was her soul mate and sat outside and wasted away because she couldn't have it until he went back in time and "fixed" it.

forget it user, it's a stealth general.

OP here. Examples? I'm genuinely curious.

>implying threads aren't always made for AUs
Why don't we ever have Grunkle Stan threads considering Stanley was the best character in the show? There's endless boat adventures that we can come up with.

Is it hard for people to enjoy something without being able to discuss waifus?

If you're seriously going to defend Dipper robbing her of a companion for a stupid fucking date BY MESSING WITH TIME ITSELF, I don't even know what to say user. Other than that was quite possibly Dipper's very worst episode.

The episode Sound of Silence stands out the most to me still, when Lincoln wanted quiet after his sisters kept bugging him and making too much noise. So he bought a pair of noise-cancelling ear buds. After his sister's figured out he was ignoring them, they each bullied him for the day, pretending he agreed to all their bullying.

The episode ended with "It's noisy for all of us, so if we have to suffer, then so do you."

Pretty much any episode where Lincoln tries to do something for himself, it bites him in the ass because of his sisters. And then Lincoln apologizes for going too far. Sometimes it's justified as Lincoln does go too far, but most of the time it isn't.

I actually miss Gravity Falls AUs, they really had some top tier design shit going on. I get the complaint that they mostly got used for fetishes and shipping (and I mean the big collaborative ones like Reverse, Monster, Antigravity, etc. too, not even the ones people made here just for fetishes) but a lot of the art and videos and shit were still A++ and enjoyable to look at. Most fandoms don't really pull the cool aesthetics off or have the worldbuilding the big GF AUs did.

Wow, no wonder people only watch this show for the porn.

Also the list if you haven't seen it:

What's the AU where the adults and kids switch places called? It's my favorite, I really like the idea of Mystery Stans with graunt Mabel.

That is just awful, what the hell.

Jesus Christ.

Do people defend this as anything but fucked up?

If it wasn't for Homestuck I think Gravity Falls would take the prize of most fan content dedicated to ludicrous head canons and AUs that have 0 basis in the source material

That or Undertale

>What's the AU where the adults and kids switch places called?

Relativity Falls.

I honestly would've forgiven Mabel for all of her bullshit throughout the series if there had just been a scene or two in the finale that showed that she was sorry for accidentally causing the apocalypse and that she would try to be a better sister from now on

You mean instead of manipulating her brother once more to make him give up something important to him and take care of her?

Yeah.

But-but-but that episode showed she LEARNED because she didn't cause the apocalypse!

I think a lot of people here would've too

Wendy straight up told Dipper to his face several times that she wasn't interesting in any romantic relationship with him. How dense can you fucking be?

>How about, the Reverse Falls AU, huh?

You mean fanfiction?

>ignoring the entire first season before they ever talked about it at all
Okay.

thanks user

Are you implying that Fanfiction, purely by virtue of not being canon, is incapable of being on par with or even better than Canon? Because if so, pic-related would like to have a word with you.

Sometimes I read fanfiction that I actually prefer to a story's canon ending.

Not that user, but could you inform me as to what this is?

All Gaurdsman Party. A fa/tg/uy named Shoggy's retelling of his Group's Dark Heresy Game with a party made of, you guessed it, all Imperial Gaurdsmen. The Gist is that a bunch of Guardsmen get rescued from certain death/abducted by the Inquistion, and are loaned out like Starter Pokémon to Interrogators going on their first mission to earn their stripes as Full fledged Inquisitors. The Problem? Most of these Time these interrogators are incompetent, and/or treasonous, so it's usually up to the Gairdsmen to do the mission in their own unique way while trying to keep their boss's safe from themselves. It is in my opinion, one of the Best Warhammer 40k stories out there, and the Paragon of what a good use of the 40k is.

Pic related is the result of my personal favorite adventure of theirs, "The Greater Good"

Ditto. I've read Fanfiction that provide explanation/backstory on things that ends up being better than how the actual story does them.

I am an grille and I kind of want a very adult Reverse Mabel to spank me. Is that wrong?

>dat .gif

kek

I'm sorry but... have you ever fucking seen a kid with a pet? Have you ever been a kid with a pet or just owned one in general? A pet is infinitely more valuable than a stupid fucking date that would've never happened because Dipper knew in his heart from the start that Wendy would never like him no matter how much he tried to do to prove otherwise. Mabel's selfish as fuck when it comes to her love life and Dipper but Waddles is really a bad example of this. Dipper was the shitty one here for most of the episode. Pets are bros for life.

>because they're SJWs who didn't want him to get with a slightly age-inappropriate chick or something.

God I'm fed up with this argument. 12 year olds are literal 5 year olds compared to most 15 year old girls, don't you remember high school at all and how fucking tiny all the 7/th8th graders looked to you now that you were older? Once girls get to 15/16 they're basically fully developed women. That's not okay for a near fully developed woman to be with a little kid who's voice hasn't broken yet and has one single body hair and who's a foot or more shorter than them.

>only Asians, Russians, South Americans/Mexicans, Europeans, and fangirls/fujoshits still care about this show

Feels bad, man.

if you're referring to Dipper's interest in running off with Ford, that was clearly the wrong path. Yeah, Mabel threw a fit and unleashed the apocalypse upon the town, but I think Dipper changed his own mind, rather than being maniuplated by his sister.

The show probably could have done better in expressing that, rather than making a big fucking Mabel fantasy land, jesus.

Oh wait nevermind, sorry, I'm stupid and didn't realize you were agreeing with me about that argument being stupid. Nevermind.

>12 year olds are literal 5 year olds compared to most 15 year old girls, don't you remember high school at all and how fucking tiny all the 7/th8th graders looked to you now that you were older? Literally none of this is actually true, you're talking about the extremes which Dipper and Wendy are clearly not at (allowing for the highly exaggerated artstyle - fuck CalArts in general).

Also explain pic related, bitch.

>that was clearly the wrong path

What makes you say that, user?

I'm not into AUs but some of the designs for Dipperford were fucking badass.

Everyone but Americans who are still pissed off that Alex doesn't like a certain politician who shall remain unnamed, in other words. It's a great show

In fact, Dipper was only 2 months away from being 13. Funny how the show forgot to mention THAT little fact until the last episode before the season finale!

So essentially the age difference is IDENTICAL in both cases - 2 years.

I don't know how to break this to you but there's not a 15 year old girl on earth who's as attractive and mature as Wendy who would want to date a 12 year old, especially one who's still as childish looking as Dipper.

...

>as childish looking as Dipper
I told you to ignore the art style!

This one's not so badass, but I like the idea the artist had of Relativity Falls during the 60s, when the Stans actually grew up.

I wonder if the people who watched this show have started watching Welcome to the Wayne

Probably not, because it's shit.

The art style was a big deal breaker.

>"Pacifica only Girl worth more than 20 minutes of Screen Time"

Now that is blatantly untrue. Giffany deserved much more screentime, but she never got it.

What else was there for Giffany to do besides be a typical yandere?

The show went out of its way to constantly remind the viewers that since Giffany was a 2D game character she wasn't real.

And yet it also went out of its way to show that she was a sapient being with emotions and agency. She could have stayed around and developed as a character, and Melody basically took the role she could have had as "Soos' girlfriend he can only see on the computer" which makes it kind of seem like that was the original intention for her character. Before Hirsch decided to take out the anger he has towards an ex on her.

Giffany had an incredibly cute design but suffered from being an American character. If she spoke Japanese, she would likely be far more popular.
(In fact she shares a VA with Tambry, who is practically a walking basic bitch stereotype.)

>Grunkle Stan is the best character
Fucking patrician taste.

It's not important whenever it's good for Dipper, because what Dipper wants is never in question.

The show is treating Dipper's contemplation of abandoning his sister without her permission as an apocalypse-causing mistake he needs to fix (Rather than Mabel' kneejerk reaction). Dipper saves the day by conceding to Mabel's demands, instead of Mabel saving the day by growing the fuck up out of her neediness. It's a mess of a theme.

I'm not quite sure if this is an accidental thematical derail (Although how does it get past the first draft is a mystery), or Alex Hirsch is either a narcissist who sees himself in Mabel, a misandrist who sees male's purpose in serviceing a female or did he do something bad to his own sister in the past and is now overcorrecting.

The bubble in "Weirdmageddon 2" may or may not have had hypnotizing powers. I'm not arguing for or against this theory. However, did it affect everyone mentally, including Dipper, once they were in the bubble? I've read that it hypnotized everyone, including Dipper, upon them arriving and have read that the bubble was just simply a temptation bubble and nothing else.

What you've "read" is really irrelevant for something like this. The only thing that matters here is what was presented in the show. Think for yourself!

Which characters were affected by the bubble? How were they affected? And most importantly, were they acting OOC inside the bubble, in comparison to their portrayals outside it, and also in recent episodes before that?

Bubble didn't have hypnotic powers. It just offered Mabel what she wanted.

Because he was supposed to be the altruist, responsible and a true friend Arnold was usually dragged through the mud.
I wouldn't say the show actively tried to suggest this was always good though, it was often more just a test of character or for the sake of ""comedy"".

>tfw my "loved ones" do this to me

Yes I do hate that message.

Bitch, cite a source or STFU. Please.

Someone didn't watch the latest episode. Or probably any episode, since your post reads like someone with at best a cursory knowledge of that cartoon.

>shills a theory based on throwaway lines and stretches
>tells other people to cite their sources
Shiggy diggy

Is there any other cartoon that was as full of itself as Gravity Falls?

The meta-humor, the dismissive way it treated some fan-popular characters, the pretentious ending credits sequence.

Looking back, the whole thing just had this smug aura that bothers me. And that's even without knowing what a massive piece of shit Hirsch is IRL.

I'm not shilling any theory. If you're referring to I'm literally doing the opposite there.

You know, I actually do see where you're coming from user. And many a cartoon has annoyed me in exactly that way - but not Gravity Falls.

You know why? Because it always feels as if the writers are having fun with you, not at your expense. Like, the references they put in don't seem to be treated as "hey look how awesome we are" like in many other shows, but more like "we thought this would be fun to throw in".

It's hard to explain what exactly causes the difference though, maybe someone else can help out.

>Dipper (or Mason as I guess he'd be called in this universe) starts off as being little the creepily stoic henchmen of his Psychotic sister, or his evil Grunkles.
>Over time, more is revealed about his character and him as a person, either through occasional slips in the mask, or the prodding and pushing of people around him, Like Pacifica.
>His character Arc Climaxes with breaking away from his abusive and insane family, rejecting them in favor of his own identity and becoming the person Pacifica and Gideon believe he can be, rather than giving up his own wants and desires to carry his family.

Even more Autistic headcanon alert
I always imagined Reverse Dipper, or Mason, to have had weak latant Sorcerous/Psionic powers at birth, that were later amplified when Stanford conducted invasive surgerys, where he inserted his untested, potentially harmful, implants in him in the name of science and increasing his powers
On a lighter note, I imagine Dipper would be a pet name that Pacifica or Gideon would come up with after getting to befriend him and call him by, much to his chagrin

>several times
It was literally once. Into the Bunker.

Before that she acted oblivious, even when Soos accidentally stated Dipper's love for Wendy, which would have been a great time for her to say that she wasn't interested.

Ehh, I dunno. I feel making her a Hippie would be changing her a bit too much. I mean, granted it is an AU, but I fell that if you completely change a characters backstory instead of just a few Key aspects, it Downplays the "Alternate" aspect of it and It changes them into an OC with a familiar skin. I feel like Reverse Pacifica should still be rich, but that she should have have kind, warm, good-hearted Parents to raise her better than OG Pacifica.

Plus, Cartoons have a bad track record at not making Activist type characters insufferable nags, let alone full blown hippies.

Really, What was that about?

Tambry Was a such a Useless character. Actually that could go for all of Wendy's friend group.

how about fuck off bad eps only AUfag

How were the credits pretentious?

Something about how staying in the bubble for so long caused Mabel to turn into a sentient swarm of shapeshifting bugs, just like what everything else in the bubble was made of

>how about fuck off bad eps only
I am confused. Are you you saying that you only want to bitch things you've already bitched about a thousand times before instead of anything new? Why?

Bump

>Is that wrong?
More like oh so right

So Mabel turns into the Locust from Bone? That sounds pretty badass actually.

As far as I know the only person to use the AU was the guy who came up with it

Giffany was a single episode villain.

Tambry was more of an extra, it's a shame we didn't get a Wendy episode where she'd be relevant though.

ehh, I don't Think Tambry had anything in her worth more than a minor supporting role. Wendy's friend group was kinda bland.

Back to your discord.

Just like Wendy herself

Who drew this? Do they have a Tumblr?

You know, whenever this AU is brought up, we almost never focus on Gideon. Like who he would be, what kind of person he is, how does he end up becoming a Co-protagonist alongside Pacifica? Just because he isn't shipbait with a neat design doesn't mean he isn't worth a little Worldbuilding love. Here I'll start

>New kid to Gravity Falls, moves in because his dad's job got relocated.
>Shy, a little awkward, and insecure about his self-worth, he's not the most Social Butterfly
>His fear of being a burden or a bother on others usually stop his attempts to socialize before they start, and even in conversation he sounds stiff and awkward and rarely interjects out of fear of Boring or offending people
>His escape from the real world comes in the form of a fascination with Magic and Stories. He Can usually be found nose-deep in a large fantasy or Sci-fi book, and he owns several fantasy encyclopedias
>His deft fingers and plenty of free time, have also made him adept at Parlor tricks and sleight of hand
>On his first day, while he and his father and are still setting up after moving in, decides to spend his time in the most familiar place available: The Book Store.
>This is where he meets his friend in Gravity Falls, Pacifica Northwest, when they both reach for the same book.
>He starts off awkward and nervous but when she gets him started on fiction and stories, his fear dissolves, replaced by passion, and they hit it off
>Gideon's dad, is a loud and Angry man,
>He isn't inherently mean, but the stress of trying to juggle his demanding job with raising his wallflower son stress him.
>Prone to bouts of Donald-Duck tier temper tantrums, when something puts him in a bad mood (which happens at least once a day) he'll be snarling storm of anger and moodyness, practically biting at anyone near.
>This is why Gideon spends most of his time outside of the House, playing make believe in the forest, which is where he discovers the journal

Looks like something a drawfriend (known in /gfg/ as boybox) did as a request. No tumblr that I know of, but I think he's a tag in the GF booru. If it still exists.

If not, I can share a few I've saved if you want.

Interesting read. If I wasn't so busy, i'd contribute.
